The OaO Raw Is Taped thread - 11/2/2008

I'll care about Finlay/McMahon if it turns into a tag match featuring Regal so them two could stiff the hell out of each other.

The OaO Raw Is Taped thread - 11/2/2008

I doubt it'll be that subtle. I have a feeling they're going to smash us over the head with the incest angle.

........................................................................ This can't miss. Lance Storm's commentary on this one should be pretty good.

WWE General Discussion - February 2008

Why would they throw money at Samoa Joe? Everything I've ever heard from the sheets say no one in WWE thinks Joe is a big deal. When Mick Foley signed a new deal with WWE in 2006, they said Foley really pushed for the company to sign Samoa Joe and everyone laughed at him. I agree. If they did sign Joe, they would basically neuter him so much it wouldn't even be funny.

    Let's Talk About...

The theory being is that everyone, including Vader, was coming off the top rope so it wasn't special anymore. Making it a banned move, much like the piledriver in Memphis, was an attempt to put some mystique and intrigue back into the time someone would actually try to come off the top rope.

According to HTM, they've floated the idea to him before. He's been reluctant since he's not willing to sign over any likeness rights that the WWE might want to use.

    Ted Dibiase

You have to admit, though, DiBiase had every perk of being a World Champion without the belt.

    Let's Talk About...

The weekend used to be great for a kid who was a wrestling fan: Friday Night - Power Hour on TBS, unless the Braves delayed it. Saturday - Depending on where you lived and what syndication deals the local networks had, you could get the WWF's syndicated Saturday programing (Usually overlapping so you'd see the same stuff all morning) in addition to regional stuff (Down in Birmingham, we'd occasionally get Memphis TV every now and then). You also had syndicated WCW programming out of Chicago and New York along with WCW Worldwide. Saturday Night was strictly WCW, which was usually very entertaining, unless you got a special treat in terms of Saturday Night's Main Event that weekend. Sunday - Woke up to All American Wrestling on USA and capped off the afternoon with The Main Event on TBS. Monday was the "night-cap" to it all with Prime Time Wrestling. I was a big fan of the "audience participation" stretch of the show and the roundtable format they had afterwards.
  9. I'm in the camp that agrees Taker/Edge should main event Wrestlemania, but you bring up a very good point. Still, if Taker were to win, it would definitely send the majority of the fans in attendance home happy. It might tick off a bunch of people online, but for the live crowd... they'd eat it up just like they did last year in Detroit. I just want to see what they do with Taker's entrance since it's going to be outdoors.

WWE General Discussion - February 2008

Same here. During the height of the Monday Night Wars, I seriously thought Vince would try his best to run Wrestlemania in the heart of WCW's home-base. I remember watching Wrestlemania 2000 and telling my friends, "I bet Wrestlemania is at the Georgia Dome in the next year or so". I was completely wrong, but it would have a great venue to hold it. I would have definitely attended as well.

    WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - February 2008

I believe it was Ross or maybe Heenan who said Monsoon's license plate on his car actually read "Kayfabe"

WWE General Discussion - February 2008

If they keep up the trend of doing big indoor stadium venues, you could also throw Indianapolis (Lucas Oil Stadium opens in the fall of 2008) and even Reliant Stadium in Houston, although it might be an outside shot if they are seriously trying to do one in Dallas. I always thought they'd try to do one in the Georgia Dome, but that looks like it won't happen. The Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis (A city with a great wrestling history) could also be a possibility.
  13. Maybe night after No Way Out to set up a Wrestlemania return match angle.

Which makes you wonder... Where do you think WM 25 will be? I know a lot of people are saying Glendale, Arizona, but does anyone think it might happen somewhere else?

If Flair gets in this year, I think it would be great if Steamboat got in as well. Those two should go in together.

WWE Permanently Cuts Ties with OVW

I guess someone was a Johnny Cash fan... A guy named Mary has to be one tough hombre, just like a boy named Sue.

    Let's Talk About...

Steamboat came back in November of '91... teamed with Dustin Rhodes against Zybysko and Anderson. It was probably one of the few instances where the "mystery" partner angle paid off in spades as the crowd went NUTS for Steamboat. Larry and Arn also sold it as if it was the end of the world for them.

    Let's Talk About...

Agreed. 1992 was a very fun time, especially with Paul E. and the Dangerous Alliance running wild. You had Vader absolutely destroying people and breaking backs, Steamboat and Rude having an excellent feud, and a lot of real good tag-team stuff. The first half or so of the year was excellent, although things started to go a bit down as they got closer to 1993.

He mentioned that they've asked him before, but he doesn't want to give up any rights he has in terms of merchandising or using "The Honky Tonk Man" name on his independent shows.

WWE Hall of Fame Candidates 2008

I thought he was pissed that Angelo Poffo got in as basically a favor to Randy Savage, even though Poffo didn't have a big NWA/WCW background. I've never heard anything about his problems with Studd getting into that Hall of Fame. Still, if they induct a Championship Wrestling from Florida guy and it looks like they will, it's gotta be Solie or Eddie Graham. Barry Windham is an outside choice as well. Someone mentioned the Von Erichs... I think that they'll hold off on them until they can do a Wrestlemania from Dallas or somewhere close by. I know Jim Ross has mentioned he'd love to see Wrestlemania in the new Cowboys Stadium when it's finally built. If not there, they can always go back Houston and Reliant Stadium.

I imagine the Road Warriors will get in before Demolition does, even though Demolition was a WWE creation.

WWE Hall of Fame Candidates 2008

Yes, of course I'm serious. He's one half of one of the greatest tag teams of all time, and I'm not talking about the New Foundation. I was suprised to find out that King Kong Bundy wasn't inducted already. I figured he would have gone in with Big John Studd. Then again, Bundy isn't dead which seems to help wrestlers get in quicker. With that in mind, I'd like to add two other nominees to my list. -Bam Bam Bigelow -Earthquake I would be happy if Bam Bam, Earthquake, or the Big Bossman gets in this year. As for Bundy, I don't know. I remember a Honky Tonk Man interview and how he said Bundy had heat with management due to constant complaining about payoffs in the past. HTM gave the impression that's why you don't see them using Bundy for any of the legends stuff they do.
