I know it will happen... but I'm praying the crowd refrains from doing the "What" response after every sentence.

Here comes Vince...
-
You figure by now people would know to look inside of it or at least rattle it around a good bit before they get to ringside.
-
It's almost Vader time!

According to the box office, most of America has never heard of it either. Anyone want to guess on what inductions they broadcast for the Hall of Fame? Austin's is a no-brainer, but for the others I'm guessing Steamboat and the Funks.
-
They really should have subbed Snuka out and put Lawler in the Wrestlemania match. Him and Steamboat would hold their own, while Piper could do just enough to make things entertaining.
-
Ok... Jericho has to pin or submit all three of the legends.

Yay!!! A Jack Tunney reference!

Is Taker bringing back the casket that broke Shawn's back?

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread
Diamonddust replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Even if they backed a dump truck full of money up to his front yard, I doubt he would have accepted. He had to bend over backwards to do the Hall of Fame, and that was only because family members were involved. Sure, Jericho vs. Rock would have generated a huge amount of interest... but it would have never happened. Jericho vs. Austin, or hell, Austin just being involved in the match somehow, would have been the logical choice if they wanted to hit a home run with the angle. It was so easy to set-up as well. Jericho comes out, attacks all the Hall of Fame members and inductees. Jericho continues to rant about how he's mowed down all the Hall of Fame members and inductees... Glass shatters... Crowd goes nuts... '09 Inductee Steve Austin comes out to confront Jericho. They could have overbooked it to protect Austin from doing anything too risky by having the likes of Piper, Snuka, and Steamboat be a part of the match as well. Hell, they could have thrown in the Funks, Kevin Von Erich, Koko, and even Bill Watts for good measure. -
If they'd drop the Obama part, I think he could use "Abraham Washington" in a variety of gimmicks, none being presidential in nature - it has a certain ring to it. That being said... he probably would get completely repackaged and lost in the shuffle.
-
A recent Observer mentioned that Howard is one of the people who consider the Hall of Fame a legitimate honor, probably more than anyone else, and as a result, the company is treating it like a joke. It also mentioned that Koko's induction was a pet/joke project of Gerwitz, who was a fan of that era (which many will say is yet even more evidence of him being a yes-man), that apparently snow-balled into Vince going along with it.

If that's the case, he'd be one to watch. You can teach ring-work, but if he's got the charisma... he's got the most important thing already.

WWE Thread Question of the Week: March 29-April 4, 2009
Diamonddust replied to Myxamatosis's topic in The WWE Folder
My top 10: 1. Hulk Hogan 2. Steve Austin 3. Shawn Michaels 4. The Undertaker 5. Randy Savage 6. Bret Hart 7. The Rock 8. Triple H 9. Kurt Angle 10. John Cena -
Agreed. He looks like a million bucks... does he have the skills to back it up?
-
As mentioned, he probably had it because of the documentary, but certain wrestlers were telling him to be aware of things the day of the event.

Examples of Randy Savage Having a Good Mind for the Business.

And the endorsement deal he had with Slim Jim, which if I had to wager a guess... caused a ton of non-wrestling fans to at least know who Randy Savage is. -
As long as Dwayne Johnson has movies opening at #1, the WWE will continue to think they can do the same with the likes of Cena.
-
What would New Jack's character be? Stabby-Stabby?
-
I know it's been said before, but it's totally fitting that the show that represented the peak of the Attitude-era and the end of the Monday Night Wars was headlined by the two biggest stars it created.
-
I remember a telling sign as a kid (Not that I understood at that point what it meant): When they came out with the Wrestling Buddies, both Hogan's and Warrior's had the title belt as part of the design.
-
Okay, in the last couple of days, Kennedy, Cena and Jericho have all had various digs at him. Kennedy even challenged him to a match. Obama= new mega heel. Has it been discussed that they are pretty much echoing the office viewpoint of President Obama?

Well... There was Sweetums...

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread

But I don't see Cena staying on Smackdown, which makes me think Edge will win there and be the champion at and post-draft, while they load up on star power for Raw to counter sagging ratings. -

Triple vs. Orton with HHH going over is my prediction on how they end the show. It also means Edge will probably retain in the triple threat.
