WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - November 2007
Diamonddust replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in WWE Multimedia
Well unless WCW taped their house shows for braodcast on MSG, NESM, PRISM, or whatever the LA station is called, don't hold your breath for that. You just seem so angry at this channel sometimes... Dont get me wrong, I enjoy 24/7, Cause I am a wrestling fan. Its just I was always a bigger WCW fan in the 80's and 90's. Heck, Im just glad I my cable company finally fixed the issues with loading the content! Heck getting WWE/WWF Programming is better than getting nothing! I just want them to show more WCW. Im not asking for Houseshows!!! How about showing all the Clashes!, Show More WCW PPVs from the 80s, and then start showing World Wide Wrestling(80s) OR NWA Pro Wrestling(80s) or WCW Sat Night from the 90s OR WCW Pro 1996 !! There is PLENTY in the vaults to show, its just its a WWE channel, so they show more WWE stuff...How about showing THUNDER(1998-2001)??? Right now, we get 3 Nitros per month, 3 WCW on TBS per month, and maybe 1 PPV of WCW per month.. I just wish it was MORE... Come on Vince FREE WCW!! LOL Of course he will not, cause he wants you watching WWE/WWF programming..Even on 24/7! Oh BTW, I dont watch current WWE stuff, its trash.. However I am a HUGE TNA fan, for which in a way, its really WCW reborn!!! Thank GOD! It gives REAL wrestling fans who like to watch Real wrestling matches HOPE! Actually, the WCW PPV's usually win the "Pick Your Big One" contest each month. I believe we're getting Starrcade 87 for this month. I agree with you about the Clashes, though. I'd like to see them, but I doubt we'll see a series of the other WCW programming, especially since the only WWE television show we get other than Raw is Primetime and not something like Superstars of Wrestling. -
Jericho needs someone who can spar back and forth with him on the mic, which would be a good spot for Kennedy. Umaga wouldn't be a wise opponent since they took his mouthpiece, Armando Estrada, away from him. Santino would be another good foil only if they moved him to a managerial role. If Santino could find a monster to manage or something like that but keep doing his mic-work, his character could hit the next level. Right now, all he is doing is talking a great game but getting his ass kicked every week. If he could get paired with some bad-ass that could do the fighting for him, things would be very interesting (Basically the dynamic of every manager/monster combination in wrestling history).

That's a whole combinations of "what-ifs" right there since Hall and Nash leaving was the catalyst for the biggest events that happened in the Monday Night Wars. If Hall and Nash don't leave, you don't have Austin winning King of the Ring (HHH wouldn't have been punished since the Clique incident wouldn't have happened), which means he wouldn't get the feud with Bret Hart, which means the match at Wrestlemania 13 never happens, which means he doesn't turn heel and align himself with his family again.

Crockett taped the TBS show on Tuesdays. Wish I knew if Flair had any previous commitments, cause if he was on TV in say..Florida, I doubt they'd air the same guy being on two different programs at once. I ran a search, but couldn't find anything. His schedule was hell, so he probably had a day off. That's what I figured... either he had a day off or was doing a show somewhere that conflicted with the TV taping. I do remember Jim Cornette saying, though, that Flair would end up doing two shows a day depending on the schedule. He'd wrestle a show for Florida in the afternoon, for example, and then fly a private jet up to the Mid-Atlantic region and do a show there that evening. -
Same here. I can picture Kennedy in the ring... about to finish his "Mr. Kennedy" line... lights go out... the last save_us_222 video plays... reveals its Jericho... crowd goes nuts... Jericho laces into Kennedy in a similar fashion to the debut promo he did against The Rock (Not Saying Kennedy is on the same level as The Rock, but it would a similar set-up).

Anybody? Did anybody actually get the magazine in question? What is the story inside? That's what I'm wondering. Also, any indication if he's going to be a heel, face, or tweener? He'll get a big pop on the return, but what's his character going to be like? (Will it be a continuation of his previous style or will they have changed it up a bit?) Actually, I found this from Meltzer's update today: vs. Cena. It's been done and I know Cena will go over Jericho again, so there is no point. vs. Michaels, we'll see if they can do it again vs. HHH, please no, unless they have HHH a heel, Jericho a face AND Jericho goes over HHH for a world title. Outside of that mix, no way I want to see this, EVER again vs. Undertaker. Do it. If 2008 is gonna be Taker's last year, then we need fresh feuds such as with Jericho and Edge vs. MVP, we'll get some good mic work, but it'll be a little early to work with him some other feuds that make sense vs. Orton vs. Lashley vs. Kane, DAMNIT, I want to see a battle over spilled coffee once again I wouldn't be shocked if he gets Kennedy pretty early in his comeback.

Kind of disappointed in the most recent WCW show... no Ric Flair at all. Usually he can save a lackluster episode with a couple of interviews alone. Cornette on the mic, though, was good as they keep building to the match where the Midnight Express won the tag-team titles from Gibson and Morton. -

Actually, I thought Rob Van Dam was the kid DiBiase got to dribble the basketball and then in completely awesome heel fashion... he knocked the ball out in mid-dribble. -
If he's not going into Wrestlemania as the champion, I'd put my money on Edge to win the Royal Rumble.
-
I remember that show... Right before Summerslam... Shawn Michaels came out to open the show, and it was the first time he had been seen since Wrestlemania that year. I also remember him making a crack about Bret Hart on the show as well. But as for Brawl for All, I'll never forget the DESTRUCTION Butterbean put on Bart Gunn at WM15.

I don't think they have commentary. -
They can always twist it and say that Edge has never been pinned at a WM. Either way, I would LOVE to see Taker vs. Edge for the title. In fact, I'd order the PPV just for that match. I imagine they'd go that route. Edge would repeatedly bring up the fact he was "injured" in the Money in the Bank match and would have won otherwise. Wrestlemania is the only PPV I consider buying each year, and I would definitely get it with an Edge/Undertaker match.

Actually, the NWA would tape their bigger house shows, especially if they were doing a big angle there - Dusty getting his leg broke by Flair and the Andersons at the Omni, for example. Live show footage is frequently shown on the WCW program. Not sure if they taped the entire show like the WWF did, however, they did have cameras at certain events. -
Then it would become a true crime documentary. If Cornette and Heyman agreed on one thing, it would probably be to kill Russo.
-
Part of me kind of hope he says something like "Welcome back to... RAW... IS... JERICHO!" Lame, I know... but I'd mark out for it.
-
That crowd was really dead... Usually the big "everyone in the ring to hard sell the PPV" brawl gets even the hardest crowd.
-
Lord... HHH has been watching Conan again.
-
Jim Ross said it best: The best reality show never made was put Jim Cornette and Paul Heyman in a car with cameras, have them drive from one end of the country to another, and film the whole thing. I'd watch every episode.

Nice little nod to the Sharpshooter by Shawn.

That sounds like an adolescent fantasy come to life.

Playing nitpicker here... But when has Umaga been shown as someone who can organize a "team" for anything? If there was any shred of logic to the situation, they would have had Kennedy or even MVP organize the team. Umaga is best as the hired gun/monster. Still, I know we're not dealing with a logical situation and Umaga is feuding with HHH so that explains him leading the team, but it does make sense for something like that to happen. Maybe everyone on Umaga's team is too afraid of him to question his authority? [/kayfabe] I could somewhat buy that to an extent.

He won the belts with Austin in May of '97. The match with Austin, though, was put in place because of the fight that Michaels and Hart had just before that PPV. I remember the original card getting completely redone because of that. -

Most of 1997 saw Shawn at the height of the ego trip to end all ego trips.
