Magnum was slated to go over Flair right before the crash. Not sure if he would have won it that September like Ronnie Garvin (His replacement) did and then drop it at Starrcade that year or if they would have done the right thing and have Magnum win it at Starrcade. Magnum was popular enough to carry things, and he had been groomed to do so for a couple of years before the crash. If Magnum entered 1988 as World Champion, there wouldn't have been the need to rush a Lex Luger push.

I found it a bit funny hearing Jesse Ventura plug Predator in the first match on PTW. -

Yeah, October looks like a good month with the "Freaks and Weirdos" theme. It'll be good to see Badd Blood '97 featuring the 1st Hell in a Cell. The pay-per-views to pick from next month are: Halloween Havoc '89 (My pick and featuring the Sting/Flair vs. Muta/Funk cage match) Halloween Havoc '91 (Chamber of Horrors/Debut of Rick Rude in WCW) Halloween Havoc '92 (Featuring one of the BEST Paul E. Rants of all time as he just goes off on Medusa along with Sting vs. Jake Roberts) We'll also get post Wrestlemania fall-out on MNW (Getting closer and closer to the formation of the Hart Foundation) as we'll see a Bret Hart vs. Rocky Maivia Intercontinental Title match. -

Agreed about the Million Dollar Man. Even though I was a strict "cheer the good guys/boo the bad guys" fan as a little kid, I look back at things now and realize how awesome a heel Ted DiBiase really was. His theme music is one of my all-time favorites from that era. I also read a story on when they hired DiBiase - They didn't tell him anything about the gimmick, and he was kind of reluctant. They then said, "If Vince could wrestle, this is the gimmick he'd give himself." -
That's a real good question. I do recall reading where Bam Bam was getting MASSIVE pops during his face run. I don't know if he would have had a heel run against Hogan since he took the time off to film "No Holds Barred" and Savage was champion for most of 1988. Still, I think Hogan vs. Bam Bam would have drawn quite well.

Yeah, and it also led to Jerry Lawler and Jim Cornette appearing at the ECW Arena as RVD's "Mr. Monday Night" angle progressed against Tommy Dreamer.

Cena's a fitness nut, and I would guess, not a steroid user. Anymore. Go find some pictures of him as The Prototype in UPW. That was when he was 'roiding. Honestly, he really isn't roid-ripped. Of course, neither are some of the stars on the list, but I assume they are pain-killer abusers, especially Regal. I thought the same thing about Regal and painkillers, but the drugs listed for him are all growth hormones, steroids, or the drugs that act as estrogen blockers.

The fact that Congressional hearings are about to start can't help the matter. I can picture every Representative in that committee taking McMahon and his lawyers to task from start to finish. The timing is just ironic as all hell. How are they going to explain this? "Umm, our doctors were apparently paid off by our workers to mask their results"? Thats about the only viable excuse I could come up with. Then the doctors would turn on McMahon and company so fast in an attempt to save themselves. I have a feeling Congress would take the word of a shady doctor over Vince McMahon 9 times out of ten.

The telling line from Meltzer: "Based on these dates, the entire policy's credibility is shot in the sense there were detectable drugs purchased by talent through Internet doctors, a practice banned by the company's Wellness policy." When the Benoit situation happened, I remember reading on several accounts how talent used to cheat drug tests by having "legitimate" prescriptions for painkillers/steroids/etc. The "Wellness Policy" was supposed to end the practice of using a Dr. Feel Good to supply a habit.
-
That's why the Meltzer said the WWE is screwed. The Wellness Policy was supposed to catch all of this, and it has been exposed as one big joke.

If I'm Cody Rhodes, I'm jumping for joy.

Look on the bright side... at least Marc Mero gets 15 more minutes of fame.
-
Who knows... it might be time to push the proverbial "reset" button.

Get ready for an extended path of destruction by Snitsky on Raw. I'm guessing I'm not alone in saying that Chavo is the most disappointing name on the list, all things considered.
-
I guess they were using the same logic behind doing a Flair vs. Nikitia Koloff heel vs. heel feud. Although, in that instance, face heat was transfered to Flair due to Koloff being an evil Russian.
-
If it comes out that the WWE suspended lower tier guys and left the "stars" alone, it's going to be even worse for them.
-
If I had to guess, they probably had these suspensions lined up before Summerslam and didn't do anything to rock that boat. I thought that too, but then wouldn't they have jobbed out Morrison? Good point. Anyways, if I'm Snitsky, Umaga, and Carlito... I'm jumping for joy. They just became the three biggest heels on RAW by default.

Man... at this rate, The Brooklyn Brawler will be revealed as Vince's son.
-
I also remember Jim Cornette saying Landell was his own worst enemy in regards to his career. He was apparently scheduled for a big push in the 80's, but drug problems and general foolishness prevented that from happening.
-
I should've been more clear. I meant the WWE Championship, not world titles period. Sid himself won the WWE Championship at Survivor Series '96... a match that also saw the New York crowd just crap on Shawn Michaels from start to finish. Actually, Survivor Series '94-'99 saw the WWE Title change hands every year.
-
Agreed. Sid had that "it" quality, especially early in his first WCW run. I remember watching Starrcade '90 when he teamed with Dan Spivey to do a one night only return of the Skyscrapers. The crowd in St. Louis was going nuts for them (Although they were facing The Big Cat/Mr. Hughes and the Motor City Madman - not two of the most popular wrestlers by any stretch). I still say WCW completely dropped the ball by wasting Sting vs. Sid in the middle of the Black Scorpion nonsense. Not sure what he could do if he came back today other than something like a couple of shows to build up someone else. The crowd would be receptive for him, though.
-
He hinted at this on the most recent roundtable discussion on 24/7.

I would say they might hold it off until No Mercy in October and use the Halloween season as a way to sell the proposed gimmick match (Punjabi Prison or Hell in the Cell), although the PPV takes place in early October so that really wouldn't work. Still, trying to make sense of things like this is never easy.
