I bet he uses LINUX just to spite Bill Gates...

Michael and Walt bond over a polar bear. --- Things that only I would make a big deal out of. - Walt may have special powers, and his mentor is a bald dude who used to be in a wheelchair. I think I'm the only one crazy enough to try and make an X-Men reference out of that...

Sorry you didn't like it. I have to say that I'm not a Whedon fan (still don't understand the love for Firefly, but that's another thread in another forum), but he did win me over with his writing on Astonishing. I agree about the overuse of humour, and yeah he did use some of the standard X-Cliches, but in the end I thought he was able to make it work.

No they didn't. As Alice once said, "curiouser and curiouser"...

.... Que?! If 'Bloom' be 'Orlando Bloom' then by what indication did you acquire to think I liked him? Well, there's that rumour that Kate Bosworth is his beard.

To sum it up, it's your standard Maxim/FHM/Stuff cover shot...

No, I think they just recycled the "Sayid's been gone for two days" comment, but I could be wrong about a new ep.

Claire? The fuck?

Hitchcock reference?

There's the problem - it is obvious that there are scriptwriters for a scripted show, but it's not obvious that that was what you were driving at. Your post after that clarifies it, I understand your point about the writers. You were responding to my post about it, which was about as vague as your initial post regarding scripted shows. My fault, and I tried to clarify that in the post previous.

What are you takling about? SNL has WRITERS which WRITE the show. American Idol just has editors to put together a show of a bunch of people singing, that no one will give a crap about a few years down the road. Plus there is a coherent storyline in each skit that SNL does. American Idol doesn't. Simple as that. I wrote that keeping in mind that you said "And the fact it takes away from scripted television really annoys me." which really doesn't reference the script writers and alludes more to the shows than any "behind the scenes" folk. I used SNL as a reference because they write sketches and aren't concerned with any coherent continuing storylines, like most scripted shows. Are there writers? Yes, but again it's not what you appeared to be talking about initially.

wrt Beyonce: disagree, disagree and agree - she's a good performer, but about average for a singer. As for Ashlee, you do need to remember that Cowell is from England, where artists lip-synching to pre-recorded vocals is the norm. In his way, he seems to be defending lip-synching and insulting Ashlee.

...and I suppose he's gonna use that as some sort of excuse as to why he didn't visit Walt...
-
Does it really matter if there's a coherent storyline? I mean, SNL has been on for over 25 years based on a format, not a storyline.

Must... avoid... urge to watch... delusional bad singers get ripped apart by Cowell...

Spoilerific stuff concerning the last 6 hours of 24 courtesy Zap2It.com... LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) He may no longer be president, but David Palmer will be back on "24" this season as Los Angeles faces yet another terrorist crisis. Dennis Haysbert, who played Palmer on the first three seasons of the FOX series, has signed on to a guest-starring arc this season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He's set to appear in the final six episodes of the season. He was one of several regulars who didn't return for "24's" fourth season, which is set 18 months after the end of last year and has federal agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) chasing Islamic militants out to murder the secretary of defense (new cast member William Devane) and wreak other havoc on Los Angeles. The show's back story is that Palmer chose not to run for re-election after the death of his estranged wife, Sherry (Penny Johnson Jerald), last season. Geoff Pierson, who appeared in several episodes last season as Palmer's opponent, is now the president. As with most things about "24," details of what Palmer's role will be within the show are being kept quiet.

"It's nicer than Dakar... it's a different type of poverty..." Backhanded compliment if I ever heard one.

You think Hayden's spaghetti strap dress had anything to do with their success at getting money?

From Zap2It.com I think this might be a bit of overkill, plus I might get confused and think that Schnieder's on one of the teams...

That's what I'm unsure of.

I don't know if it WAS cancelled or was on the brink of cancellation, but would this little program from the '60s about "boldly going where no man has gone before" or something count? Doesn't count (I think), because Star Trek was cancelled and never went back into production. Anyways, off the top of my head (counting shows that switched networks): Roswell, Buffy, Sliders, The Naked Truth, Family Matters, Step By Step.

I don't think it's anything besides the WWE knowing that Shawn will always be a heel in Canada and adjusting their booking to reflect that.

Doesn't matter - I'll take the under.
