    RIP Jerry Orbach

    Crap, crap and crap. RIP Jerry And call me selfish, but what does this mean for L&O: Trial By Jury?
  2. Oh, man. Is it wrong of me to have completely ignored Todd Grisham and think that because it was written "Todd" they were referring to Michael Cole?

    The Amazing Race 6

    I have to say, kudos to the fine editing, as Kris' (never-before-seen) confessional about trying to break the stereotype of rude, ugly Americans interspersed with examples of the Racers being, well, rude, ugly Americans. Also, after seeing Jonathan crank his ego to "eleven" in the confessional, I'm really not sure whether to hate this guy or pity him. And something I finally noticed was that a LOT of the Racers wearing UnderArmor. Interesting product placement. I mean, it makes sense, but The Amazing Race wasn't exactly where I expected it to be...

    Monthly Title Subscriptions...

    My general thinking is that if you can't think of 5 titles to subscribe to, then don't bother subscribing. While I really do think you should support comic shops, you may want to consider subscribing directly instead.

    REBIRTH

    Well, no, it's not. But hey, it's an opinion, and I always welcome those of Sass because they might not always be popular, but it's pointed and well thought out and he's generally got good reasoning to back it up.

    Uncanny X-Men Questions

    I think Havok was necessary on X-Factor, because Peter David needed a straight man for Guido, Jamie and Pietro. But that's just me.

    REBIRTH

    Well, can't really disagree with that as a general statement when it comes to Marvel and DC. Their properties, to do as they see fit, I guess.

    REBIRTH

    In essence, it did, but the thing I liked about the retcon was that Johns tried to incorporate everything about the GL mythology to make it work. Sass has a good point there, but at this point in time DC is pot-committed to bringing Jordan back, so it might as well be done in a way that makes him a hero again (although, I suppose that Final Night did that).

    Uncanny X-Men Questions

    Oy, I think that's too Russo-ish even for Austen to think up. Well, the "half the evil mutants" thing anyways. Good thing they left the Magneto thing alone for Morrison (by painting himself into a corner where he had to kill him) and Claremont (by using a horrible retcon to bring him back) to fuck up. Then again, in the wrestling world, boinking so many women would probably turn Magneto face...

    Uncanny X-Men Questions

    1) Has Northstar been removed from the team or killed? Technically, no, since he's still a teacher at the school, and definitely no 2) Is Angel blue again? No, he's a rich white guy thanks to Black Tom. 3) Is Nightcrawler back to being religious again? Nightcrawler never stopped being religious 4) Is Mystique not in a "portal of Abyss"... No idea 5) Has Stacy X been given a new name OR a nice costume since 400? No, but she's in that wonderful area where all unused characters go, hanging out with the New Warriors. 6) Did Polaris go away? She's on the Austen/Milligan X-team. 7) Did Havok go away? Did "Nurse Annie" finally leave? No, he's back, and Nurse Annie is still around, I think. 9) Did they take the awful blue/gold colors off of Juggernaut? Not yet, but seeing as he turned face and isn't as powerful as before, it was probably an editorial decision. Personally I think that Juggernaut (sleeping with She-Hulk aside) was a character that Austen did right by. 10) Did Chuck Austen finally admit his work sucked and "The Draco" and his other worthless storylines were shit? No, but give the guy some credit - he tried hard and took the heat for a lot of editorial decisions. And while his stories weren't great and he's been just killed in the online community, I don't think that there was a significant change in sales. Anyways long term Austen's legacy will probably at most consist of Angel's secondary mutation and the introduction of yet another Guthrie. In other words, if you want to ignore his entire run, go ahead.

    DC's answer to Ultimate Marvel;

    The Morrison retconning movement is largely being spearheaded by Claremont, for predominantly personal reasons, not the least of which is that Claremont is, at this point, jealous that Morrison is a far better writer than he is and handled the X-Men far better than Claremont has done in years. That's pretty much what I meant by saying they shouldn't have had Claremont handle the retcon. The whole Magneto thing is a bigger mess than what Morrison left it as. Too bad they didn't let (or maybe couldn't get) Whedon do it. Look, I'm not saying that Morrison is a bad writer. I'm just saying that he's better when you let him do whatever he wants, and that that decision was, in the long run, not good for the X-Books. The Hypertime concept is basically allowing ANYTHING that has happened in a DC book to be a part of the DCU, but not necessarily the mainstream DCU. It's kind of like a multiverse, except it's really not. And I'm really not explaining it very well. But basically, you want an iconic World's Finest? It can exist in the DCU via Hypertime.

    The Star Wars Holiday Special...

    I still don't really think that he did, but I do think that he comes up with a lot of human characters and names, so when he needs one, he can just look up his db to see who fits the bill.

    Real World XVI...

    Left unsaid but rather obvious: Austin also has a shitload of bars. I just hop they don't stick the cast in a tequila bar and waste a lot of Don Julio on them...

    Top 25 Comics for November 2004

    I'm impressed that Teen Titans is that high. Personally, I've found the writing to be kinda weak, and it's even more puzzling seeing as how good GL: Rebirth is.

    Canadian PM Paul Martin visits Libya

    Sad thing is, Layton's got him by the short and curlies. If the Liberals want to push anything through, they'll pretty much need the support of the NDP. Funny, I thought all political parties were corrupt. I did, in fact, vote Liberal, mostly because I thought that there would be a minority goverment, and thus voted for the candidate who would best represent my riding. I was also of the opinion that the Reformative Alliance wouldn't yet be cohesive enough to run an effective government. And 4-5 years from now I'll probably be voting Conservative, and I'll be watching Harper closely to see how much more he can "unite the right".

    DC's answer to Ultimate Marvel;

    Should've made it clearer. I think Morrison is a great choice for ASS, but for the main books, I'd think he'd fuck it up like he did X-Men. OH. I see. You might have a point there. And I would have to disagree. Morrison's run on X-Men was the best that book has been in YEARS. The recent X-runs of Chuck Austen and Chris Claremont only make that fact even more evident. I don't want to get into too much of a Morrison tangent here, but what I'm saying is that it was a decent storyline, but with no real regard for what's happened previous. The fact that the X-Books have been trying to undo a lot of what he did, frankly, speaks volumes about his run in terms of continuity. Mind you, they shouldn't have had Claremont (the kind of dangling plotlines) try to undo it, but that's another thread, I think. So, again, Morrison on ASS will probably be good because he can play around with characters however he wants, and not worry about any consequences because when he stops writing ASS, DC doesn't have to try to clean anything up. The new writer can just start writing whatever. btw I'm writing ASS because I'm too lazy to write All-Star Superman, and because I just like writing ASS in caps...

    Pro Bowl rosters announced

    I agree with that, but I figured that they'd throw the fans a couple of bones, and that was one of them. Still, let's compare Vick to some other NFC QBs not playing in Chicago, New Jersey, DC or San Fran. Name - passing TDs - running TDs - INTs - 300+ yd passing games - completion % Josh McCown: 6, 0, 7, 1, 57% Michael Vick: 11 , 2 , 10 , 0, 57.3% Jake "The Boy": 21, 0, 14, 2, 57.3% Vinnie Testaverde: 14, 1, 17, 3, 59% Brett Favrerererere: 22, 0, 13, 3, 63.0% Joey Harrington: 15, 0, 8, 0, 54.9% Aaron Brooks: 17, 3, 14, 2, 56.9% Matt Hasselbeck: 18, 0, 13, 3, 56.6% Mark Bulger: 17, 2, 12, 3, 65.3% Brian Griese: 16, 0, 9, 2, 69.6% Draw your own conclusions...

    RETURNING TO THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE

    DC's answer to Ultimate Marvel;

    Personally, I'm very happy he's writing Superman. I don't think you could find a better candidate to write Superman than Grant Morrison. The other teams sound very good as well. Sure you could: Anybody besides Morrison (provided it's not Mark Millar). But that's besides the point, because ASS will allow Morrison to do things that he loves to do, like ignore continuity.
