...and now I see why Whedon is writing Astonishing X-Men. That's right out of The New Mutants (Illyana Rasputin aka Magik). Anyways, maybe Ethan and co just want to eat the baby or something.

It's only surprising since we assumed that he worked at Initech. It doesn't really matter, in any case.

I didn't like the whole redemption thing with Jack, is all...

Is it wrong to say that I'm pissed off that Charlie's NOT dead?

Watching the Alias commercial, I wonder if that was a rib on Abrams' other show?

Damn, Ethan is badass.

Boone's shirt is in Chinese letters! It reads: 8 10 4 which actually would mean 84. Wonder what the significance is...

Sawyer's Nickname of the Show: Tattoo. Although I can't imagine Walt yelling "Locke! De Plane!"

Jarrett/Brown is the money feud, but I think that Brown isn't ready to carry the company as champ, and when he is, TNA might be no more. All the same, I think you need to give Monty the title at Final Resolution and stick with it for a while. Give him the Bret Hart/Goldberg "fighting champion" gimmick and it'll keep Monty over while allowing him to improve on his ringwork. Keeping Petey Williams off of Impact is stupid in a way, but I suppose they're afraid he might get too many face pops for the Destroyer, despite D'Amore's presence.

XMas shopping on Wednesday nights it is then...

I think they're at the biggest tourist attraction in Senegal, so it won't be entirely bad. Still, they're probably gonna need around $40 to get to the airport, so it's gonna take some time. Anyways, random thoughts since I didn't watch this until this morning (office XMas party last night.) - In the thinking ahead department, don't you think you'd buy a round trip ticket if you know the Pit Stop is on an island? - I'm glad that the Roadblocks have a "6 each" rule. I'm further glad that for the most part the guys did the first two. And that this Roadblock involved water. Hayden, Kris and Kendra, God bless you. - A negative about that is that you're left wondering about Lena or Kristy doing this roadblock. - And as punishment for watching the wonderful, wonderful Roadblock, we get to see Gus topless. It made me wish I was as blind as wussy-boy. - Is anyone else glad that Assclown hasn't won a leg yet? Btw, no good pics on the CBS website this week, unless you want to look at Lori's rather impressive manmade rack. Damn, there's a third one?

"Angels" by Jessica Simpson deserves at least an honourable mention. Most of you probably don't like the original version by Robbie Williams, but at least there was, you know, FEELING in the singing. In her cover, Jessica does what she does best - suck all the soul out of the song and turn it into a diva-ish overemotefest. "Over and Over" by Nelly and Tim McGraw is also awful. Partially because Nelly can't sing, partially because singing "over and over again", er, over and over again gets really annoying. However, credit where credit's due - Nelly has "sang" one song more than Ashlee Simpson on SNL this year. Speaking of over and over, "Call on Me" by Eric Prydz is also kinda annoying, but the video, well, that's the video of the year in my book. As my fiancee's friend put it, "bloody brilliant".

I'm going to exclude self-contained and non-continuity series, since otherwise you're looking at things like Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen et al., but it allows "event" stories like Crisis and Contest of Champions... Best: I think X-Men from Giant-Size to around Fall of the Mutants is one of the best runs in comics, period, but I have a hard time picking just one storyline. I guess the Phoenix Saga stands out. Honourable mention to my guilty pleasure, Ellis' Stormwatch run. Worst: I'd like to say the Clone saga, but to be honest it started out ok, and what really killed it for me was the fact that it kept going on and on and on. Well, that and the whole "Peter is the clone, Ben is the real deal" thing. So I'm gonna have to say Avengers Disassembled, which I think was a big clusterfuck.

I collect comics, Transformers and I suppose DVDs. And, I suppose, online porn.

No, but for the women's division, it might as well be. Best women's match in the 'E' in a while. Surprising since Lita was involved, but to her credit she did a good job aside from the worst through-the-ropes dive I've seen since Mongo-Goldberg.

U.S. GOVERNMENT SEIZES PARODY COMICS AT CUSTOMS

This'll be interesting. Would foreign publications be covered under the first amendment once sold here? -
Well, to be fair, they ARE backed by Maxwell Lord. Remember, in the DCU proper, he backs a team called "the Super-Buddies". Wasn't that pretty much established during the Supergirl/Power Girl episode?

Eh, nothing wrong with liking XBox (I may need to turn my SONYRULZ~! card now...). But if you start proclaiming Bill Gates as your Lord and Saviour, then I'll accuse you of drinking the Kool-Aid...

That was probably a good thing. Quidditch served it's purpose in the first film. If Harry Potter were a TV series or a movie in 2 parts (a la Kill Bill), then I could see showing more of it, but it wasn't and I think they were wise to limit it to what we saw. That was pretty much my feeling with AVP. I went in there with lowered expectations and was actually entertained. Which may be why I looked on it so favourably at the time. Van Helsing though, was another matter. "Entertaining Crap" would appear to be Sommers' forte, and sadly it didn't even reach that level.
-
Van Helsing was an enjoyable movie, if you like poor acting, lousy plot, horrid CGI... I saw Harry Potter with the fiancee on Saturday, and I was kinda disappointed, mostly in the story, which really felt like it dragged on and on. I'm starting to think that Rowling is really just a hack writer that got lucky with her first couple of stories (although to be fair, I haven't actually read any of the books, so I can't truly say.). Cinematically, I can't complain. I think that Curazon did a better job with the movie than Columbus did with the first two.

Easy enough. Warrick Dunn hasn't really been doing much since the Michael Vick Experience took off full stride this year - retcon him in...

As you may have guessed, I was lazy again this week. And since I'm Canadian (or at least spent the long weekend in Canada since I work in the States), I can't even claim a week-long turkey hangover as an excuse. So I'll do what any other Canadian would do: blame Bettman and Goodenow. Here's the list: JLA #109 $2.25 DISTRICT X #8 $2.99 DOCTOR SPECTRUM #4 (Of 6) (MR) $2.99 NIGHTCRAWLER #3 $2.99 X-MEN FANTASTIC FOUR #1 $3.50
