Forbes Magazine Says NHL Owners Overstated Losses
starvenger replied to EVIL~! alkeiper's topic in Sports
The Leafs are (easily) the most profitable team. I'm SHOCKED. [/sarcasm] Anyways, maybe the NHLPA should note that while the league as a whole may not be in as dire straights as previously cried about, they're still in the red. I'm sure that's a minor detail though. -
I'm picturing the actual Burt Reynolds from movies like Cannonball run where he'd be chewing gum and laughing the entire time. That's pretty much Norm's take on it, except (naturally) more over-the-top. He does a great Turd Ferguson...

My nightmare is that Donald's twist will be that from here on in anyone who gets fired stays on to "help" with the rest of the tasks. Meaning that whether we like it or not, we get 7-8 more weeks of Blinky and Ivana.

Daisy was really in there for eye candy purposes, so I think Jessica fits the bill there. Except... Daisy wasn't exactly blonde, right? The only problem with Burt Reynolds is that I keep seeing Norm as Burt Reynolds. Funny yes, reality no.

Happenings during the last two tasks do seem rather convenient. I've seen tow trucks deliberately cruising freeways looking for accidents, but contractors cruising neighbourhoods? And the bridal salon really did seem to be something meant to fuck with Chris, but as I've seen pointed out on other sites, he could've just hired someone to help the team out and balance out the Sandy Factor. Regardless, I'll take those things at face value until they're exposed as contrived. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.

If you're looking to buy, RR is $35 at Fry's this week...

Trump says a lot of things. Often they contradict (Raj is spared for taking responsibility, then fired for taking responsibility), is hypocritical ("I hate people who exaggerate") or it's plain wrong ("highest rated show on television"). Anyways, Ivana could have been fired, but she's always been lucky in that someone else was deemed more dismissable. We could call this the "horseshoe up the ass" strategy, I guess. In this case, Chris used the only card he could - "Ivana's always at the final table" - but seeing that over the last 2 tasks she actually did a not-too-bad job, it's a somewhat weak argument. Also, all of the women have come off as nasty, except maybe Sandy (but then, we've seen more of Sandy in the last 2 eps than the previous 8 combined). Overall, there isn't near as much warmth between the candidates this season as there was last season. S1 you had a good social dynamic between everyone (especially the platonic man-love between Kwame and Troy). This season everyone is more calculating, gearing everything towards the boardroom. Anyone else notice this?

Interesting, since in the director's commentary Oz says that DeNiro and Brando "improvised" their dialogue during their scenes together. Oz actually doesn't say anything bad about Brando throughout the whole thing. I've heard that Brando was difficult to work with regardless. I'd like to hear the rationale for Garfield.

Yea she backstabbed Chris instead who pretty much saved her ass from a possible firing. I wouldn't really call that backstabbing. More like just adding fuel to the fire. After his comments last week, either he would succeed or he'd get fired this week. It was as simple as that.

Savage is a no-win situation for TNA at this point. I'd agree that you need to save some face by negotiating to bring him back, but outside of that TNA owes him nothing. Anyways, bringing in the oldtimers is ok to an extent, but if the young talent doesn't get built up you're killing yourself when they leave. And for Benoit's sake get the fucking title off of Jarrett.

We need to revisit "worst cover songs". Jessica Simpson has two - "Take My Breath Away" (Berlin) and "Angels" (Robbie Williams). In both she manage to take a couple of good songs and take all that was wonderful about them out and replace it with Mariah Carey-esque overemoting. Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da is not a good song, but it's one of those great drinking songs along with, "Home For A Rest" and "Fiesta". What 5ive song made the list, out of curiousity?

So we're gonna rely on Michael Moore to tell us the truth? That, folks, is just scary.

(Side note) 5000th post!! Took long enough... The worst part of this is that Maria and Ivana will be around for the final couple of eps (if it's similar to last season), and good people like Raj and Bradford got the boot because they did something that Trump didn't like. Still, I LOVED how Maria got caught up in her own lies and her only recourse was to blink really quickly. Seven of Nine was much less bitchy this week, btw. She didn't even backstab Ivana once!! Andy continues to hold his own. I'm still believing that he won't win, but he's impressing me every time out. I'm absolutely shocked that Trump didn't do a preemptive firing, btw. There was just no way for Chris to survive if he lost. To his credit, though, he had the classiest taxicab confession of any candidate.

I guess Lucas believes in karmic balance, because the trailer was all sorts of awesome, and now we get this: George, I suppose, is so hard up for money that he's shilling for Target...

You expected something smart out of the mouth of a guy who was married to Roseanne? -
Sounds real good on paper, doesn't it? Too bad the match sucked.

I like that the players all seem to have flaws. Yes, there are NFL players that really are great people, but they're human, and while their character flaws aren't as large as the fictional ones do, they're still there, and it makes the show a little easier to relate to. BTW, Joey Jeremiah as the kicker was awesome.

Was playing X-Men Legends, but that was a rental, now splitting time between SD! vs Raw and NBA Live 2005.
