    Three former IC Champs gone......

The writing was on the wall with Tomko using the boot and Snitsky using the pumphandle slam, I guess. Still, nobody did the big boot better on this side of the Pacific...

Best team in the AFC after Week 8

The champs finally lost, but you can't write them off yet. Lots of surprises so far - Jags (this year's Bucs/Panthers), Steelers, Chargers, and the Texans are all players this year - who've thunk it?

    BALCO execs: Bonds used 'roids

You're absolutely right about that - it's legal according to MLB. In unrelated issues, Bud Selig continues to be commissioner and MLB still has a joke of a luxury tax system. Throwing close to the shoulder is essentially verboten, since it could be construed as headhunting. And since he's not crowding the plate with his thigh, you also can't throw at it without getting a warning. So really, the only place you can throw at are his upper body and arm, and why more pitchers don't is beyond me. Maybe it's psychological. At this point in time, that has to be a factor. Yep, which is why I don't equate the armour with the steroid stuff. My personal thoughts are that he took them a while back, muscled up, and doesn't take them anymore because he's just looking to maintain, not bulk up further. He'd probably get more injuries without the armour because he crowds the plate, not because he used steroids. I think I got everyone off on a tangent. Back to the steroid stuff!!

    BALCO execs: Bonds used 'roids

Armoured up, he's got less fear of crowding the plate, confident that if he gets hit, it'll protect him. Pitchers are forced to pitch further outside to him, resulting in more balls which means they have to throw a strike or walk him. Take the armour off and do the same thing, and it's probably more likely that you'll get hit, as pitchers are more likely to try a brushback pitch if they think you're scared of it. Bonds strikes me as a stubborn kinda guy, so he'd dig in there no matter what, and as a result there'd be more HBP and an increase in his chances for injury.

MTV2 is becoming a basic cable channel

That's gonna happen when you abandon the MuchMusic model for the MTV model. Although, as of late, Much has been adopting the MTV model as well. As for MTV2... well, that's Just Another Channel that I'll add to my channel skip list.

Have Bonds take off his armour and see how many injuries he gets.

    Knightfall

I thought that Knightfall was well thought out, although like the Clone Saga, it really dragged out. Similar to the Superman storyline, it set out to show that there can only be one true Batman (although Dick didn't look too bad in the suit), and succeeds in that respect. Other things: - Wasn't a big fan of Quesada's costume, although it got better as the regular artists started streamlining it. - Best cover: the one where Kelley Jones gives us a gratuitous BUTT shot of Poison Ivy. No idea what happened to him, but he could definitely draw a nice ass. - The novelization of the story (by Denny O'Neill) is actually pretty good. I think you can find a SC for cheap at Borders or Barnes and Noble. - After reading this, it makes you very sad thinking about Batman and Robin and wondering what could have been.

    Apprentice 2

I think we tend to forget that these are people that are successful in the business world (or debate club) so when they get fired their egos take a massive hit. They go into denial mode, where they can't see what exactly they did wrong. Although in some cases (like Little Stacy) it's more what they DIDN'T do (buptkus) than what they did incorrectly. I hate that look that waiters give you when you ask for water and they seem shocked that you mean regular tap water and not the bottled stuff. Hey, if I want to spend $8 on bottled beverages I'll buy a couple of beers.

    SNL Review

I think that if you see Horatio as the lead in a skit before WU, then you might as well watch something else. As for ripping on Ashlee... well, she deserved it, and it was funnier than her music awards "gag".

    Toys R Us

My thinking was that I could either try the "4-for-2" thing, or buy a couple of ESPN games and a GH title as well. I ended up getting Hot Shots 4, NBA Live 2005 and NHL 2005, which also allowed me to get a wireless PS2 controller for $10. Pretty good deal overall, I think

    The Death of Superman

Knightfall was in the works long before the Death of Superman story (which was actually a last minute thing the writers came up with, when they had to scrap at the last minute their original plans for Superman #75 featuring the long awaited Clark/Lois wedding). Really? That's pretty impressive, actually. Although Jan Bogdanove's art still sucks. Reign of the Supermen wasn't great, but it did serve it's purpose in having people realize that the DCU needs Big Blue around. Which leads me to another question: - When did Superboy go to Balco or go on the HHH diet?

    Apprentice 2

He did really well, and he's showing the potential to reach the top. He'd be a good fit a jr management position, but again, it comes down to age and experience, which he's gonna need before he starts running one of Trump's companies into bankruptcy (not that they need more help with that). You'd think so, but where are Pam, Lil Stacy, John and Elizabeth? I've got no clue on this one. Unintentionally funny overdub of the week: When Trump talks about meeting Bill Rancic at the Miss Universe pageant. Seeing as Trump was meeting Kwame until he got DQed as a judge for waving at some contestants.

    Ashlee Simpson on SNL

Talk about Wrestling With Shadows-type luck. I think that, more or less, the official spin is that she had acid reflux, daddy made her lip-sync, the drummer played the wrong song and everybody does it anyways so what's the big deal? Which btw is brilliant because it spins things away from her "I'd never lip-sync" interview, which I'd think is about 50-60% of the reason for the controversy.
