I thought that was the girl who played Molly in Joe Schmo...

DISTRICT X #5 $2.99 Every week my list gets smaller and smaller. Not that that's a bad thing. Also, with StrykeForce AND X-Force out next week it feels like I'm in some sort of bizarre time warp...

How about we just send him to Philly with an "Eagles suck" shirt glued onto him?

I thought he directed the Buffy movie. *shrugs* Oh well, whatever. But shouldn't we wait for Mark Millar or Rich Johnston to confirm this one?

FCC to Fine CBS Stations $550,000 Over Jackson
starvenger replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
Can I just say how stupid this is to fine tv stations which DID NOT KNOW that Janet Jackson was gonna show her boob on a live broadcast? Fricking tightasses. -
Now I have something to tide me over to the softcore porn that is Latin Lover...

A shame, really. With those two, one point can be the difference maker in the match, which generally is a good slugfest.

I also blame the producers. Those last final moments seemed like quite a tease for a kiss or a long, lingering hug or something. "ultimate betrayal"... isn't that a BIT melodramatic? I mean, the only way a "betrayal" would happen is if Chip/Kim used the Yield on Colin/Christie or vice-versa, and even that's a bit of a stretch. I also wonder if the next leg will be non-elimination. I know that traditionally it's a 2-leg run for the final 3, but with the last team getting robbed at Checkpoint, I could see them doing the non-elimination first, and have the final leg be a hellaciously long one.

In the third slot: Gary Gulman - 6/10. I'm a sucker for Seinfeldish observational humour Rob Cantrell - 5/10. Up and down. Some good laughs and deafening silence. Aaaaaand batting cleanup: Jay London - 8/10. Strong stuff. And funny as well. Rich Vos - 7/10. It was like Dennis Leary without the swearing. My votes will go to: Jay, Alonzo and Rich.

On the block: Annoying blonde girl and Sean Kent for S1 and Kathleen Madigan and Corey Holcomb for S2 This week, Season One chose Ralphie May, Rich Vos, Tess and Rob Cantrell, and Season Two puts up Tammy Pescatelli, Alonzo Bodden, Jay London and Gary Gulman. First up: Alonzo Bodden - 8/10. Did his "buying a car routine" Ralphie May - 0/10. Not funny, and a hearty "fuck you" for ripping on Toronto (which btw isn't nearly as cold as, say, Windsor/Detroit). And you're still a wigga. Batting second: Tammy Pescatelli - 0/10. Remember on Cheers when Cliff did his comedy routine that consisted of "What's up with that"? This was about the same level trainwreck, and actually forces me to bump Ralphie up to a 1. Tess - 3/10. Anything after that is funny.

I haven't seen a lot of Ninja Storm, but was there always a different coin every episode they used that lock and drop thing in the Zords? And yes, the NS girl is hotter, but I think that Asian pink ranger was even hotter. Patricia Ja Lee as Cassie, the Pink Turbo/Space Ranger. Turbo was one of the worst seasons (thanks to the Wesley Crusher-like kid) story-wise, but had a good looking quartet of females - Katherine the blonde Aussie, Tanya the ebony babe, Cassie, and the partially Hispanic girl who I can't remember the name of. NS used the "lock and drop" power discs to access ("download") weapons. And yes, I know way more about Power Rangers than is probably healthy.

I dunno... wasn't the Fisherman jersey post-96? As an aside, I own both the Fisherman's jersey AND the "hybrid" jersey. I'm such a geek...

OK, here we go, for Tampa... New England Arizona Baltimore Cincinnati Detroit Jacksonville Pittsburgh Houston Seattle Washington Tennessee Atlanta Minnesota Philadelphia Denver Green Bay Tuberculosis score: 13

OK, if they were only adding some "depth" to the logo (a la Detroit Lions adding some black to their logo) I'd be ok with this, but you know Bettman will try to change it to something red, white and blue (like the NBA, NFL, MLB, PGA, NLL...). It's funny, and then I remember that Bettman's a Stern disciple and I cry...

Missed that ep, because my VCR sucked and got tossed out the window. Anyways to sum it up for me, the Zords aren't as good as NS but the acting is better and a bit more cohesive, Elsa looks better with short hair or as Principal Randall, the Battlizer still sucks, and having "Tommy" there without actually having him there was pretty slick. Oh, and NS Blue Ranger is still hotter than DT Yellow Ranger.

Singer Ditches "X3" And Is Set To Direct "Superman
starvenger replied to Jonathon's topic in Television & Film
I'm sure the Canadians will whine "aboot" it. I still haven't heard anyone say "aboot". "Aboat", yes. But "aboot"? Never. Not even from a Newfie... -
And they've been on the air for how long? Over nine seasons, you'd think they'd have thought of doing that by now I thought that the live episodes they did in previous years were real time?

From Newsarama This should be interesting. Will Knowles shit or will he get off the pot?
-
This is true. Although it's probably fitting that he found two nuts...
-
I agree. Show some maturity, be a professional and maybe they'll relax the dress code again.

Most books-to-film go through the same process. Basically get the main story written and then see what else you can fit in. This will disappoint some people, but when novels are long, as the last few Potter books have been, it can't be helped. I'd have to agree with you on Order of the Phoenix though. I haven't read any of the Potter books, but considering that this one is about the size of a phone book, I don't see how you can avoid splitting it up.

I'll be honest, I think that Millar called Knowles bluff, but of course if Knowles doesn't accept the challenge than any credibility he had left (if he actually has any left. Only Moriarty is worth a damn on that site IMO) is shot. Interesting that he pledged to donate to the CBLDF though, but that may have something to do with Millar working in comics.

Superman:TAS Vol 1 and Batman:TAS VOl 2
starvenger replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in Television & Film
I haven't heard anything about it, but it's probably a lock for "blockbuster movie" season. If I were to guess... maybe July? Star Wars is due out in May, right? -
So are you saying that it was actually safe to drive for 2 hours on a donut? Yes, I do think he would have been able to get away with as much as he did if this took place in the US. Not only that, but an American taxi driver would've been severely reprimanded. There has to be some law against picking up passengers for long trips on a spare tire. Driving on a donut IS safe - I've done it actually, providing that you're not trying to break a speed record. I think that you can go about 80km/h on a donut with no problems. Of course, all the teams were urging their drivers to go fast, so that probably led to the car problems. And actually, that would make them partially to blame for any incidents that occured. And yeah, in the US, you'd probably get reamed for using a donut for 1 second longer than necessary, but then again if you welched on a negotiated price you'd probably also get in a bit of trouble. Paying the extra money at that point becomes an issue of pride. Even if less than $50 were at stake here, he should've fought for that money for as long as he could've, which I believe he did. That wasn't pride. That was being stubborn. He tried to bully the driver into taking a lower-than-negotiated price, and then stuck to it. Had Colin tried to negotiate at the end and stuck to his guns, then maybe it's a point of pride to get that lower price. So, no matter-of-principle here. It's simply a matter of Colin trying to get his way, as usual.

Do you buy movies when they first come out on DVD
starvenger replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in Television & Film
It depends. I'm less likely to buy a "bare bones" DVD when it's likely that a special edition will come out later, as was the case with Rounders and Swingers (two movies that should be in every guy's collection, IMO). With Goodfellas, I didn't want to buy a flipper, so like everyone else I patiently waited for the SE disc that's out now.
