I gotta say that it would be funny if he said that Bolivia is where Mike Tyson has sent some of his opponents... For the most part, it's fine, but for some announcers they need to tone it down a bit. I dunno if they'll replay the women's 4x100 relay, but the announcer was crowing about how the anchor would pull away from the Aussies, and when she didn't, it was kind of like "oh well, the Aussies are gonna win, and with a world record time." Don't you get the incredbly low voice of Mary Carillo instead?

My fiancee (who's in Toronto) was torturing me by telling me about the LIVE coverage she was getting from the CBC. When NBC was showing the Thorpedo's 400m heat, she got to see the finals. Stupid NBC.

Yeah. Tammy's one of the LCS2 comics who has a real chance of losing (Bonnie and ANT being the other ones). Her whole act is "blah blah blah I'm Sicilian blah blah blah USO Tour blah blah blah did I mention I'm Sicilian?" Kathleen would've benefited from doing at least one head-to-head. She's good, but she just didn't get a chance to really show it...

They're showing a LCS marathon on Comedy Central right now...

Is anybody, really? I can understand why Jarrett is champ (he's never gonna jump) but it'd be nice to have someone else (well, not Killings) who's champ for an extended period.

According to the SchmoBlog Rhett Reese said that during the touchups before badminton they applied a solvent that would cause the face to start peeling, so yeah, it was planned... -
Yeah you're right. Never underestimate the drawing power of the generic young female actor...

I've done this before, but I generally do it for a month or two every 4-6 months. That way I've got a bunch of titles backlogged. Of course, if your local Blockbuster stocks only Pan and Scam comedies (like mine does), it's kind of a ripoff. But at least I can catch up on stuff like The Sopranos, since I don't get HBO...

A question I had was actually how did the little Alien survive? The Incredible Growing Alien Queen hit the Pred right about where that sucker would be incubating. Never mind that it was necessary for the "twist" ending. Yeah, can't say I'm shocked. Actually, check that - I'm shocked that it's not lower, since there were no press screenings for this movie. Critics absolutely hate that. Of course, the movie generally sucks, but that doesn't help. Peter Howell in the Toronto Star put it best (in lieu of an actual review) - it doesn't matter what he and his fellow critics will say, it'll still be number 1 come Sunday.

What I was trying to say (and doing it quite poorly, I might add) was what people want is for Aliens and Predators to throw down, and that's what you get. But you're right - I'm not fanboy enough to really know what people want to see for this. Me, I just wanted to be entertained for 90-odd minutes. Batman/Predator was pretty good. Stormwatch/Aliens was probably the best Aliens crossover that I've seen, mainly because it's in continuity and ties in with The Authority.

Late night talk show shakeup coming..

His contract runs through 2005. Leno's the one who signed the long-term contract. And I think Stewart is doing The Daily Show through 2006... -
Which of these should the NHL abolish first?

Sorta? I keep waiting for the Leafs to get rid of Domi. Belak can fill the role of "moronic enforcer" a lot better, cheaper, and can play forward or defence, to boot. -
"Must own movies" that I don't currently own on DVD: Goodfellas (which I will come next week. Special Edition... FINALLY) Rounders (CE comes out 9/7) Star Wars Trilogy (you know you want it... even if Lucas kills it) Better Luck Tomorrow (Gotta support my yellow brothers...) Spider-Man 2 (because, you know, it's still in theatres) Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (waiting for the 4 disc version)

Probably the "wigga" material?

D'Amore is good at drawing heat, and he's a good mouthpiece for Team Canada, so I have no problem with him. Plus I think it's good for guys like Williams to have their trainer right close to them when they're in the ring.

My Asian pride says that he still sucks, so he gets thrown into the same pile as the Big Brother duo and Daniel from Survivor... He's no Dorothy, or Shii An, or even Mikey Bustos (Canadian Idol).

Were you watching the show? John and Alonze were the clear cut top two. And Dat Phan? Still hella unfunny.

I'd do one, except it pretty much goes like this: Humans find something curious, and go investigate. It's a temple with an Alien Queen in suspended animation Queen wakes up, and lays eggs. Humans find eggs. Guess what happens? Predators come to hunt Aliens. Fighting ensues. Aliens, Preds and Humans die. One being survives. It's obvious who, about 5 minutes in. I mean, what do I criticize? Anderson giving the fans what they wanted? (edit)The shoulda said *trying* to give fans what they wanted. Hey, I was tired...

Was she also the one in the AvP: Deadliest of the Species mini that Claremont wrote? Just curious. I got back from the free screening here in Houston. It's a decent movie. It's not a great movie, but it's a good popcorn muncher that you'll enjoy. The backstory is actually pretty decent as it more or less follows the comics plot you outlines but at least a third (maybe 2/5) of the movie is the setup. If you're expecting a start-to-finish slugfest, you'll be disappointed. Actually, if you're expecting a huge slugfest at all, you'll be disappointed. Anyway, if you even knew a little about Aliens and Predators you could probably predict what was gonna happen, so I couldn't really hold that against them, and I don't really consider that a spoiler. Call it around 6.5/10, for which I'd ordinarily say it's a rental, but an Alien movie is one that you really need to see in a theatre, so I say go out and watch it on the big screen.

Don't ask me why, but I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on the Dogs at 100-1...

I could see them going to the Detroit area, specifically Windsor Arena. I don't know if D'Amore still runs Border City Wrestling, but I'm sure he's got some contacts up there.
-
Nice place to live. Just don't go downtown along Oullette at night Thursdays - Sundays or you may find a lot of drunken 19-year old Detroiters. Casino Windsor's a very nice place though. I had a pretty good view of it (and the Detroit River) back when I lived there. Also, Woody's Outhouse has the best ribs in town. Don't believe the hype about the other places...

The production on this series has always been pretty top notch. Like when someone can't find the route marker, but their CAMERAMAN spots it right away. Or they start playing the goofy music because the twins are lost. Again.
-
Yeah, that would be me. I now go to the occasional baseball game to check out the architecture in the stadiums. I'm not joking about that, either.

I think that Ron Francis could do it, personally...
