1) If it's a keeper league, then I take Johnson over Dillon. Otherwise, Dillon. 2) Suggs is more injury prone than Griffin, but it's more likely that Griffin will get pulled for Bell. Hearst is likely the short yardage guy. Flip a coin. 3) Hasselback over Green. I think that there's more potential for Hasselback to pick up points, especially if Robinson shows up to play this year. 4) I'd go with McNabb over Vick, only because McNabb seems to do very well down the stretch. Plus I'm not 100% trusting the ankle. 5) I've got Westbrook in my keeper league, and he's RBBC, but remember that that committee is less one, so it's really a platoon situation. Still, he's like the Pinball Clemons of the NFL right now, so he should get you the points.

Joe Schmoe 2 Premiers Tuesday June 15th on Spike!
starvenger replied to a topic in Television & Film
Well, they haven't gone all Fifth Wheel/Studs yet so I suppose Piper will choose Austin, but Austin will choose Ingrid and Ingrid gets the money and Derek will then do the big reveal. Of course, there was also my previous thought that Austin and Piper would simply hook up again, so I guess I'm really just hedging my bets... -
I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but you can add Catwoman to the the list as well. Just curious, but does AvP qualify as a comic book movie? IIRC, the first time these two met was because Dark Horse Comics owned the comics license for both. Anyways, I won free passes for a screening on Thursday, so I guess I'll be going.

Joe Schmoe 2 Premiers Tuesday June 15th on Spike!

I care, yet I don't, because I've seen them all anyways. I hope my VCR decides to work tonight, as I've got overlap with Last Comic Standing and The Amazing Race all going on about the same time... -
Trent Dilfer was the QB of the Baltimore Ravens when they won the Super Bowl. The Ravens are known for their tough defence more than their offence, which consists of running back Jamal Lewis and a bunch of receivers. Kurt Warner was QB for the St Louis Rams when THEY won the Super Bowl. While their defence wasn't bad either, they're more known for a high-octane offence. Anyways, as far as Brodeur goes, he backstopped Canada tp gold vs some of the best in the world, with some of the best in the world. It's not concrete proof that he's a top echelon goalie, but it's good enough evidence for me. I would've said lovechild of movie Sabretooth and Stefan Edberg, but that's just me...

Question about voice/live action actors,
starvenger replied to AndrewTS's topic in Television & Film
He did a voiceover of the Joker in the pilot of the short-lived "Birds of Prey" series, and among the fanboy crowd is probably considered THE definitive Joker. But for the most part, the voice actors don't really fit the actual "look" of the character. I mean, could you imagine Phil LaMarr as a live action Green Lantern? Going the other way around, I know you've got Adam West, Rowan Atkinson and Sgt. Slaughter going from live to animated, don't know anyone else. -
Joe Schmoe 2 Premiers Tuesday June 15th on Spike!
starvenger replied to a topic in Television & Film
According to the Spike TV website schedule, they're showing the entire Season Finale tomorrow night, and tonight is a re-airing of "White Men Can't Jump". I actually took advantage of this, and went to see Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle instead... -
I came, I saw, I loved it. It's not a 5-star classic by any means, but it's a great little flick that you don't mind spending $8.50 on. Anyways, some random thoughts... - Favourite inside joke that only I might get: "Well, Better Luck Tomorrow!!" (Cho was in that movie which had an (almost) all-Asian cast). - Detective Stabler from Law & Order SVU as Freakshow was unrecognizable. Very odd little segment there, probably my least favourite part. - When filming in Toronto, it should be a law that you include Thea Andrews in there somehow. I can't stress that enough. - Country Style Donuts suck. Just so you know. Decent coffee, but not near as good as Tim Horton's - If you and your buddy ate 30 sliders each, you'd probably be playing a LOT of Battleshits. - Is Eddie Kaye Thomas on his way to becoming a "That Guy"? - I'd do Susie Kim. I'm just saying, is all...

American TV censorship reaches new Highs/Lows
starvenger replied to Vanhalen's topic in Television & Film
I just want to see a Spelling Bee where a kid gets the word right and yells "Fuck yeah!" in celebration, just to see what ESPN will do. Also, why are they televising a Scrabble tournament? Firstly, if Chuck Woolery isn't hosting, what's the point? Second, this is not likely to be a ratings grapper like poker or a piece of Americana like the Spelling Bee and Nathan's Hot Dog contest, so why is ESPN even bothering? -
Bryan Singer leaves X-Men to direct Superman
starvenger replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
Probably because Singer's deal with Fox. He's still writing a 12-issue arc of Ultimate X-Men, I think. If Marvel had more control over the writing they could just get Brian Bendis to kill her off for no reason other than that he could. As it is, they've got the basics of the story set up (The Phoenix/Dark Phoenix saga) so get a decent screenwriter attached (like the Spider-Man guys), get a director who cares about making good movies and go with it. -
Personally, I'd blame NippleGate for that one, but hey, blame whoever you need to - I may hate on the movie, but I can't argue with women kissing each other...
-
I think it made back it's money though, so get ready for a cult DVD classic, I suppose. Catwoman's made about $36 million more than it deserves...
-
I'm thinking two rounds of head-to-heads (A1 vs B10, A2 vs B9 etc) to get to a final 5, add three wild cards, and three more rounds (8-4-2) to get a winner. That gives you about 9 weeks of comedy, I think.
-
I think your analysis of Gary is more or less correct. He's a good comedian, decent material, but really not on the level that John and Alonzo are on. I think that his head to head with ANT showed what he's capable of, but he's not consistent (or motivated) enough to maintain that level. So in the Triple Threat match, he's gonna be the Corey to John's John and Alonzo's Alonzo...
-
YOUR final 3 - Gary, John and Alonzo. Should be decent, at least. Alonzo's gotta be the favourite, I think.
-
If Jay were up against anyone but John or Alonzo, I'd be rooting for him. However, he's up against Alonzo, and it'd be a travesty if Alonzo doesn't make it in.
-
I think Heffron's done this set before. But then, it's the results show, so it really doesn't matter, does it?
-
Gary advances... THANK YOU, AMERICA!! (that is, Gary's not Tammy, so it's not all that bad)
-
Tammy's was better than Tuesdays, but that's really not saying much...

He was good for a while, then he degenerated with the "Sentimental Favourites" crap, which really clouds his opinions. But, I need something to tide me over until the TWoP recap comes out. The two guys doing LCS aren't bad, but their opinions of the comics really clash with mine. The site owner and Sting7 are also good recappers. All the other regular contributors are horrid. What bugged me about last week's recap was how they said Colin was the best racer, while Christie was the worst racer because she couldn't do the caviar very well. First of all, I wouldn't have been able to eat caviar very well with Creepy Intense Colin hovering over me either. Second, she might want to check out exactly what's in the caviar before passing judgment. But, there I go, hijacking the LCS thread... I know who you're talking about - that's Betsy, who is probably the worst columist that they have. I've learned to avoid any article that she writes. Mike and Dale seem like the only two people on the site that care about LCS. I like their tag team style, but like I said before, I just disagree with their opinions of who was best.

Got that right. For reasons that I can't fathom, the two guys at RNO loved Tammy's set. which gives me the fear that she might possibly make the finals.
-
Now, that's not true. She's got lots of jokes. It's just that most of them aren't funny...
-
Neither do I, really. You really don't see as much shenanigans on this show simply because you have no time to do so. If they want to throw a gimmick team on to the show, then that's fine. Unless they get Rupert, in which case you know they're going for ratings. And also, as much as I like Rudy, he's not exactly a legit threat to win the Race. Teri and Ian are really the exceptions to the rule that the old people get knocked out early. Personally, I'd prefer a gimmick Race which used an "All-Star" format. Bring back the Cha-chas, KennyG, The Clowns, etc.

Fox and the Hound was actually an original movie, right?
