I'm glad that Batman Begins is actually sounding good, because Warner is screwing up all their other DC properties...
-
I don't see that as a knock. When it's strictly on ESPN next year (if there is a next year) it probably won't be as much of a problem. And fuck David Stern, the NBA, NBC and ABC for stretching the first round of the playoffs for what seems like 10 years...

Not exactly. The deal with the purple rocks is that Rob, Rupert, AND Jenna would have all had to draw rocks, which means that Jenna, without anyone casting a vote for her, could have been eliminated and she didn't want to risk that. Which is exactly what happened to Paschal in the Marquesas. Unless Mike Skupin was never voted against, Paschal is the only player to never have his name written down at Tribal Council. Of course, he ended up collapsing from malnutrition the next day, so when you think about it it wasn't exactly a BAD thing that the purple rock had spoken...

Fair enough. This season, the challenges were cool because of the deja vu factor, but the stupid, stupid rat creatures... er, players meant a lot of time being more annoyed than entertained. And don't think that Lil didn't know that. Lil was essentially an 8th jury member, but one who decided whether you got $1,000,000 or $75,000. The only way she had a chance to win was if she went heads up with her fellow Outcast, Burton - and that's not a guarantee that she'd win, either.

They didn't. They punished Rob by denying him the victory. Amber just happened to benefit from it. It's happened before: Survivor: Marquesas - Vecepia wins because the Rotu 4 are pissed at Neleh for not knowing her role (which was, according to them, 5th or 6th) in the tribe. Survivor: Pearl Islands - Sandra wins because Lil shouldn't have been there to begin with. I'm still debating whether Amber is worse than Sandra as far as winners go...

I suppose that depends on whether JLA/Avengers is considered this year or not. Either way, I suppose that Busiek still gets the accolades...

I absolutely agree with you about hard work being a good thing, but if hard work was rewarded in Survivor, Gretchen, and not Richard, would've won the first Survivor. Rupert, despite being the same worker bee he was the first time around, never strategized beyond getting fourth place - and even admitted that his final 4 alliance wouldn't get him any farther if he didn't win immunity. In this game, you cannot and should not rely on immunity to take you further in the game. The lack of strategy is inexcusable, and that's why Rupert did NOT deserve to win, and that's why I did not vote for him to win the second million. Of the Choboga Mogo members, there were two people who deserved to win, and ironically they never made jury the first time around. Shii Ann really had no chance once the Pagonging started, but she went down swinging, and managed to take down (bitter, bitter) Alicia before she did. Unfortunately, she was stuck with a bunch of people who refused to see the forest for the trees. Boston Rob was not the best strategist, but with the bunch of sheep he was with, he didn't need to be. He was one of the few who came into the game with a plan, and for better or worse, he stuck to it. Yes, he's arrogant and was dishonest, but it shouldn't be a shock to anyone that people lie and decieve on this show. Apparently though, Tom, Alicia and Lex didn't think that way, and really, that's why Rob lost (and Amber, by default, won).

From what I understand, Morrison made Polaris all crazy and stuff, while Joe Casey is responsible for inflicting Stacy X on us. And yes, Silvestri drew the final Morrison arc. My favourite part of that is the Ripclaw... er, Wolverine cover he drew for one of the issues. Seriously, it looked like he took an old Cyberforce cover and touched it up. And "That Which Endures" was a HORRIBLE AWC storyline to begin with, and frankly Morrison's use of it didn't change my opinion much. Valiant's Eternal Enemy was a MUCH better version of the same idea. btw, Exiles looks like it's still a keeper.

Can't believe that Rob didn't get the money. I guess that the Marquesas players are destined to get screwed... So now, the next question is... is Amber gonna insist on a prenup?

I dunno, Fallon has been funny on WU. The funniest Maya's been has been when she was carried by Ana Gasteyer (Gemini's Twin) and Will Forte's (almost) legendary "it's not HALF-black month, Tina" comment...

Well, everyone loves Morrison, so therefore you MUST hate Austen. Never mind that Morrison has been about as consistent as Austen after "E is for Extinction". Austen is not a "superstar" writer, but merely a good freelancer, and therefore you cannot expect to like him. Especially since he ignores continuity and writers his story arcs to conveniently fit into a TPB. Not that Morrison ever did that. And Morrison's final story arc was crap, with some "eh" art from Silvestri, and I'd put it up against "The Draco" as one of the worst X-stories in the last couple of years.

Yeah, that's a lot of guys, although Hasek, Hull, Robataille, Larionov and Chelios would be better known for their prowess on other teams, or for their careers as a whole. Still, that's a lot of HoFers...

Can't imagine that ever happening again. Very, VERY impressive. Anyone have the stats for the 70's Canadiens? The 80's Oilers should have a few - Gretzky, Fuhr, Kurri and Messier are/will be in the HHoF, and I'm unsure of Glenn Anderson's status.

I need to get this off my chest, but Wondercon is NOT the SDCC. It's run by the same people though...

Considering that New Warriors is one of my favourite series ever, I'd have to disagree... but, I think that was a series that maybe he had a bit more freedom to write, so maybe that's why it was better. Of course, he later started writing every other Marvel title, and the quality dropped everywhere. You can see a repeat of that with Chuck Austen, although Austen is merely a good writer, who is at this moment probably getting blamed for Nightcrawler having a shitty costume. Seriously, whose idea was it to give him the costume he wore for about 3 issues in Excalibur?

Remember, if you don't watch it, the show MUST suck. [/sarcasm] Anyways, I'll be on a plane, so I'll be taping the show. And I hope that it's a fitting farewell to one of my favourite sitcoms ever...

Based on who's left, no. You won't catch me crying if Fantasia isn't there though. Yeah, so I'm voting La Toya from here on out. If I can be bothered to vote, that is...

Well, I suppose that's better than being on the "Fast and the Furious" side. Can you imagine Riddick saying "I live my life a quarter-parsec at a time"? Actually... don't answer that...
-
agreed...and what's funny is that America tends to listen to Simon when it comes to voting, at least 90% of the time, yet they boo his every word...booing simon is "COOL"! I'd guess that "BOO" is the sign that the floor directors hold up so that the audience knows what to do...

I don't know. According to that stupid bitch Paula, Latoya can record a Big Band album and sell millions!! Wow, Paula said that? Well, then, I stand corrected... Man, what was I thinking?

They have been too busy sucking tom brady's balls to do that recently, probably him. And that'd be the same Tom Brady that ESPN never mentions as one of the better QBs in the league, right? If you wanted to pick a white QB to say that they blow smoke up his ass, why not pick Peyton Manning? They're too busy picking on Mike Vanderjagt to focus on Manning...

"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" as a big band song made me think that it could work well in a marching band. I don't think that's what Idol was striving for. Jasmine, at this point, is in the same position as John Stevens - she's young, and she's gonna get better, but it's not gonna happen in this kind of competition. Anyways, the last two weeks have not been kind to the contestants. I think it's safe to say that neither Latin or big band music will be in the winner's album...

I saw a report where they also mentioned that Bonds said "about half of what I say is false", so I suppose that you'll have to take his comments with a heavy does of salt...

The One And Only 24 Season 3 Thread
starvenger replied to Spicy McHaggis's topic in Television & Film
I think you can pretty much sum it up by saying: The who? There's been so much happening on this day it's even hard to believe anything anymore. I barely remember that Nina's dead... -
Well, I guess I'll try Claremont's X-Men. I know I'll love the art... Exiles #46, $2.99 Uncanny X-Men #444, $2.25
