Mutantfest, baby!! Exiles, New Mutants, Uncanny X-Men and Weapon X

Actually, you could add a third (and probably most important) reason: Syndication. Isn't the magic number for a drama around 100? Anyways, they can always go the 90210 route with Smallville: The Summer to hit that. Even so, diverting too much from the timeline will make people go, "That's not really Superman." Don't watch enough of Smallville to know that. I just assumed that it was similar to the DCU, where Smallville is in Kansas and Metropolis is Delewareish. Also, it is with the best intentions that they send characters off to college, but often I don't find that it works as well for some reason.

How would they manage to stretch high school to 5 years though? Get rid of some of the females and replace them with a chick in leather named Tori? I guess the thing is that because of what we know about Clark Kent, Smallville has a built-in limitation of how long it can go.

I'm assuming that's Maroon 5. They had a single called "Harder To Breathe" that's pretty good, some nice hooks. The second single from the album is called "This Love", which oddly enough I find I can sing "Your Woman" by White Town (remember that guy?) to...

That would explain why he becomes President. (in the comics, that is) As for Buffy/Smallville, why not? Although personally I just want to see a crossover featuring Bo Duke and Quark... And speaking of Quark, the whole Buffyverse/Trek thing going on in 24 (ok, more Buffy than Trek) isn't complete until Armin Shimmerman shows up, is it?

It's a combination of little things that annoy me about Wild Force: - The continuing trend of the characters wearing the same clothes all the time. This started with Lost Galaxy and ( Karone in [p]leather aside ) really, really annoys me. You'd think that Alyssa's classmates would be wondering what was up with that. - Speaking of clothes, the Ranger vests were also a bit much. I realize that this notion was taken from Gaoranger (where they at least had some cool jackets) but when you have "Iron Bison" or "Soaring Eagle" on your back in the same city where there are Power Rangers doesn't it get a wee bit suspicious? - Also, isn't it kind of odd that only Alyssa does anything outside of being a Ranger (while they were rangers)? All they do is hang around on the floating island. - Three words: "Never geeve up!" - The Rangers personalities are VERY two-dimensional. We're not expecting deep character studies from PR, but this was probably the worst development of the principals that I've seen. - The Red Ranger is/was an incredibly bad actor. Apparently the main qualification for the job here was that he was ripped. - Max. Incredibly, repeatedly using the phrase "I'm not a kid!" annoyed me more than anything That Little Snot ever said on PR Turbo. - No mention of a relationship between Tommy and the yellow ranger. Oh wait, that was on MTV's Undressed. On the other hand, I did like: - The Growl/Gao phones. I suppose that with the vests, they didn't need blatant morphers to indicate "hey, I'm a Power Ranger". - The Battlizer mode sequence. I actually don't like the Battlizer when it's being USED, but the sequence where the Red Ranger gets "battlized" reminds me of Centurions, one of my favourite cartoons as a kid. - The millions of potential combinations for the Zords. By the way, the Ninja Storm and Wild Force zords are interchangable (something I tried after seeing Hurricanger vs Gaoranger).

That would pretty much describe the problem. Not enough people look over here, period. Sure, but as a medium, I think that the literary world is so diverse that any discussion on any topic is likely to turn into a two person thread. The only ones that seem to get more input are Sci-Fi or Fantasy books, which isn't surprising since that's what the bulk of today's comics are. Also, I tend to think that the word "literature" scares people. "Comics and Books" might be a better description for the folder. Not that I think that more people will look around because of that, but it's a better title. (edit) and for the record, I'm probably about 10 years removed from reading anything that could be considered "classic" literature, although I'm considering rereading "The Iliad" as a refresher before seeing "Troy".

The One and Only Friends and Frasier finale
starvenger replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
He was still a pompous jerk on Cheers, but he didn't have a radio show then. My assumption is that since he's a pseudo-celeb (due to having his own radio show) his ego got inflated to the point where he couldn't just "hang out" in a bar. And also, if he went to a bar, that'd be too "Cheers-like", and they really needed to let Frazier not be attached to that. It's something that Bright-Kaufmann-Crane needs to keep in mind for "Joey". -
The One and Only Friends and Frasier finale
starvenger replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Television & Film
Given the way the last season has gone, there's reason to dislike Friends. Although the 80's flashback two weeks ago was killer, if you ignore Danny DeVito. Hey Danny, maybe you should work on getting "Karen Sisco" picked up by another station... Best: Episode: The One With All The Thanksgivings Regular character: Chandler Reoccuring character (major): Janice Reoccuring character (minor): Gunther One Shot Character: Russ Big time-Guest star: Christina Applegate Story Line: Monica/Chandler's hidden romance Worst: Episode: The most recent clipshow Regular character: Ross, I guess Reoccuring character: Tag One Shot Character: Richard's son Big time-Guest star: Danny DeVito Story Line: Rachel and Tag -
I've always found that CSI and Law and Order are easy shows to get into because there really isn't a whole lot of baggage associated with it. You can watch an episode and not worry too much about whatever came before it. Speaking of baggage, I really should start renting Babylon 5 as I can now watch it without getting confused by ongoing plots...

Food for thought there. Probably won't surprise you that I never really watched Buffy though. No real reason - I just never did...

Man, of the things to rip the "Commies" for, it's celebs? The whole thing was supposed to be a big farce to begin with. Wouldn't it have been better to rip it for not being funny? Always available: - Lou Ferrigno is eternally on the convention circuit. If you can't find him coming to a con near you, you're not trying very hard. - Not a celeb, but Virgil/Vincent is at all the cons as well, it seems. - Kato Kaelin has made a career of stretching the limits of the 15 minutes of fame

I'm still dubious. Sure, it could be brilliant, but to me, puppets and live action have only worked when Jim Henson was in charge. I guess we'll have to see if they can make a believer out of me...

Fugly doesn't put it into perspective. She looks like Chris Rock... Just remember, the top 3 last year were a big female, a stringbean, and a big black dude who looked like he could keel over at any second. It's worth noting that all three judges WANTED Fantasia and, um, Bret Hart fan(forgot her name, I'll use that for lack of a better description) to advance (noted after voting was done), and they did. They were also the two that got the best comments from the judges. Now, I don't want to say that the judges were subconciously manipulating the voters, but I thought that shooting down the "safe" songs really hurt the other singers, and it's not like they were bad. Except for the girl singing Pasty Cline...

You poor bastard. Unless it's the Time Force crossover or "Forever Red", you're better off avoiding the Wild Force season.

Don't worry, Joss has "Astonishing X-Men (vol 2)" to tide him over until he gets a new series. I should point out, though, that 2 hit series + 1 cult series is pretty good as it is... Also, I'm not saying that ideas may have run thin on the show, but: wtf?

I think this is following the recent trend in trying to re-hash old fads. Ninja Turtles has returned to their early, original comic-book origins. He-Man has been re-created with the original storyline strongly in place. Power Rangers are returning to their old concept of dinosaurs as Zords etc. The storyline has basically been the same throughout though, so that makes little difference here. UYI It's true, it's a bit more simplistic with Power Rangers. Since they're taking a lot of footage from the Sentai show, Aburanger (?), they've got to take the stuff they're given and work around it. Which, frankly, is part of the fun of Power Rangers. Anyways, my thoughts on the 2-parter. - Dammit, they should've had Tommy morph. That woulda been kickass. - Typically, the Ranger "season" takes place in the year it airs. This is the 12th year, and Tommy left the Rangers in the 5th year. Meaning it took him SEVEN YEARS to become a paleontologist. Not outside of the realm of possibility, but still quite a stretch for a guy who was always late... - Katerina Devine - hotter with dark hair. It's not even close. - Story is about as hokey as normal, but at least they manage to note the fact that these three aren't exactly buddies. - Mention of Lothor further ties in Ninja Storm to the regular PR universe.

Some of this I'm sure you guys know already. First, Whedon, courtesy of Lying in the Gutters: Brilliant. You see, it is of course Joss Whedon and John Cassaday on "Astonishing X-Men," as LITG pointed out last week. It's Austen and LaRocca as the new ongoing team, rather than just a fill-in, on "New X-Men"… as LITG is, well, pointing out now. Nice to see that they've solved that Austen/Larocca issue. I suppose that Astonishing v2 is a mini though? As for Bryan Singer, well from Comic Book Resources: I guess business is about to pick up in Joey Q's 'hood...

Darren Pang is just a moron who has always bashed Hasek, and has continued to bash him basically because Hasek made him look like a fool based on his original bashing (which was garbage like "Hasek is the worst goalie ever, he will never be any good in the NHL because his technique is not good" and so on). Weren't Pang and Hasek teammates at one point? It's what I said before last season - after Hasek retired they should have given Legace the ball. He'd be a starter on just about any other team.

Beauty, eh? Except for that price. I'm sure it'll be cheaper than that when it comes out... From TVShowsOnDVD

Man, I forgot about the shark. Everyone was so excited that Colby was probably willing to catch for Hatch. Boston Rob, ruler of the lazy tribe, a hard worker? Who is this guy and what has he done with the Robfather? What is trying to do, show that he's learned from his Marquesas experience? I'm glad you understood it, as I didn't understand half of what he said. The gist was that he woulda played the game out, and dealt with it later, but that's not what most people would do? Honestly, I've no bloody clue what he was thinking with the log cabin idea. Fun, yes. Practical given the time constraints and the help available? No.

Battlestar Galactica picked up for 13 episodes
starvenger replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
You're right - it wasn't good, but then, was the original really that much better? I'll give this a shot though. Ron Moore did a good job as one of the principal writers for DS9, so I'm giving him more chances than I would Brannon Braga... -
I felt pretty depressed after watching that, and it definitely couldn't have been fun for her. They really made it seem like it came out of nowhere, though, didn't they? Anyways, with the construction thing, I was truly surprised that there wasn't a twist where they switch islands and redo another tribe's shelter. Seriously, I was expecting (a severely sunburned) Paige Davis to pop up out of nowhere for a minute or two...

This Saturday on ABC Family and Toon Disney, and next Saturday on ABC. I use this site to find out the exact times...

That number will go down a bit this year, since a better Canadian dollar, and making it not as expensive for Canadian teams to go down. Only teams I think are that lost a considerable amounts of money, were, Florida, Tampa, Atlanta, Carolina, Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal, Buffalo, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, LA, Anaheim, San Jose, Phoenix, Nashville, New York Islanders Well, 53.3% is better than 63.3%, I guess...
