Actually, the first reboot went pretty well. You're talking about the second reboot, the Age of Apocalypse... Which "reboot" are you talking about? The post-Shadow King X-Men #1 or the "X-Men in Australia from the Siege Perilous" debacle? If either one of those were what you were talking about, I wasn't even considering them reboots...though, I do suppose they could work as such. All I know is that I thought the Age of Apocalypse was pretty fucking lousy. Does "Giant Size X-Men #1" ring a bell?

Yeah, there's a lot of non-traditional males here in Houston. And ye gods, there are a lot of people in denial about their ability here...

Two words: Clay Aiken.

If you were thinking of picking up X-Treme X-Men, well, I suggest that you get it while you can. Source: Newsarama Excalibur!! Woohoo!!

I love Danny Markov's play. Shame he's in Philly now...

I think they need fairer competition for Kobayashi. He didn't stand a chance against the bear...

You'd think so, wouldn't you? Running down the checklist... - chick with wild coloured hair? Check - guy with giant smile? Check - singing beefcake for the ladies and non-traditional males? Check - people who stand a chance of winning the competition? Maybe a couple.

Never figured out how that costume was Power Rangerish. Unless they were talking about the villains... Bullseye looked stupid with the target carved into his forehead. But then again having it on a cowl wouldn't be much better. Farrell definitely made the part his own though. Was definitely the MVP of the film.

Don't the page 2 guys already talk some entertainment?

The reason it's called "American Idol" is obvious - the title meant to capitalize on people's sense of patriotism, either conciously or subconciously. The original title ("Pop Idol") makes a lot more sense, but call it that here and maybe not as many people tune in to see it. Of course, if it's "American Idol", why do they have a Brit as one of the judges? Scooter Girl: I have to agree with Randy, her voice is perfect for Broadway. But since the Cult of Clay Aiken managed to have him finish second - and he has a Broadway-quality voice as well - I suppose that anything's possible. The Dean Martin guy won't go much further. Great singer, but this ain't the competition for him. They had a Sinatra-type singer last year, and he didn't make the semis, so I don't expect it to be different for the Martin guy.

I think she just ensured that scat won't be making a comeback...

No, I'd agree. She sang ok as well. And God bless those two Eastern Europeans for trying, but they were sooooo bad that I think that any one of us could sing better.

That would make sense. I believe that the Rockets owner was looking for an NHL team for the Toyota Center. The only problem is that from what I've seen, the Aeros (Wild AHL affiliate) don't draw all that great, so I don't see how an NHL franchise would be financially viable.

Two things: - skintight leather is good - watch Catwoman and learn from what they fuck up

I'm actually kind of glad that 24 is getting a "break", since I get to watch SOME of Keen Eddie on Bravo... ...and yep, this is the part where you WANT to watch American Idol. Hate on it all you want, but remember, Simon is doing us a favour by telling millions of wannabes that they're not nearly as good as they thought they were.

If you're looking to start on X-Men as a whole, I'd suggest looking for "The Essential X-Men" Trade Paperbacks. They reprint a lot of the early issues of the Claremont/Byrne/Cockrum (get better, Dave!) era, in black and white. Good readin'. If you don't want to look at those, I'd suggest picking up the "Dark Phoenix Saga", "From the Ashes" and "Fall of the Mutants" for starters. As for the "current era", most of the Austen stuff on Uncanny (save for "the Draco") have been ok to surprisingly good. "Trial of the Juggernaut" is a good read. I haven't read enough of New X-Men to get a good feel of it, but if you like Grant Morrison, it should be all good. And if you want Nightcrawler, definitely, go for Excalibur. A lot of fun when Claremont or Alan Davis were writing the book.

If you look around, you should be able to find a TPB somewhere. Marvel put out a lot of crap in the 90s, but to their credit they did greenlight some great projects, and this was one of them. My thoughts on Daredevil: It's obvious that Mark Johnson is a fan of comics, however in trying to put a comic book into the confines of a movie, I think he lost his focus along the way. From DD's radar sense to the misuse of the Kingpin as a villain to the "romance" between Matt and Elektra, there were just a lot of things that just didn't work out right (although the lack of chemistry between Affleck and Garner may have contributed to my last point). Overall, I have to agree with Steviekick. Daredevil was a good movie, but it could have been so much better. Comparing it to other Marvel movies, I'd put it on the level of the Blade films, below the X-films, Spider-Man and even Hulk (which was another movie that could have been much better, but that's another thread).

The Toronto Star's perspective of the "fun" history between the Leafs and the Flyers: Article is here If there's a Philly version of this story, I'm sure that the gist is the same: "We don't like each other".

Man, if something is worse than "Die Another Day" then I HAVE to hear it...

You know, maybe Wie shouldn't be in the tournament. I mean, sure, the exemption makes sense since she's a local. And the PGA isn't the MPGA, so her gender shouldn't matter. No, she shouldn't be in because she's an amateur, and this is the Professional Golfer's Association. She doesn't pay dues, and doesn't even golf for a living. She took the place of some other worthy professional who could be plying his trade in Hawaii RIGHT NOW. Dammit, get this... this amateur out of there!! [/sarcasm] Anyways, let's just say that I am very impressed with anyone who can hang with the pros and hasn't even suffered through calculus. Girl or boy.

OK, I ended up going to the store, and here's my thoughts: Weapon X #17 (7.5/10) A pretty good issue, with a bait-and-switch that I didn't expect, but had suspicions about (if that makes any sense). Anyways, Chamber goes out to kill the leader of the U-Men with Sauron, Wild Child and Jackson, and gets caught by the U-Men. Tieri is doing a good job with this book, and I think that they should give him a shot at X-Treme since Claremont is getting Uncanny. Jeantty's art was again good stuff, although I was surprised that they didn't let Jeff Johnson do the whole arc. Transformers Energon #19 (7/10) I grabbed this one out of curiousity since I'd no idea how Furman was gonna convincingly pull off a Megazord Prime. But, this was apparently not the issue where I find that out. This issue was all about the (re)introduction of the Armada/Energon universe to readers new and old. And it definitely got me interested. The best part? No annoying kids!! Yet.

Don't the British use "fucking brilliant" as a sarcastic phrase?

Which of course makes it all the more funny-weird that one of the OHL teams (St. Michael's Majors) bears the name of a Catholic school run by Basilian priests (it's owned by the Senators owner though).
