Tom Cruise Interested In Iron Man Lead Role?
starvenger replied to EdwardKnoxII's topic in Television & Film
Hey, isn't he still attached to that Doom's IV project that Rob Liefeld had so many years ago? Anyways, it's easy to make it a different superhero story - just follow the basic plotline and throw in a version of the Armour Wars and you're set. And I just need to get this off of my chest. They might be a bit old for the role, but Delroy Lindo or Avery Brooks would be badass as James Rhodes. -
The One And Only 24 Season 3 Thread

Damn, all Nina did was put in a bid and I hate her all over again... -
You're thinking too much like a 90's speculator. If you've already got it, I wouldn't bother getting it again. Of course, since I don't get Wizard, I'll be picking it up... Avengers #77, $0.25 Exiles #40, $2.99 New X-Men #151, $2.25 Supreme Power #6, $2.99 Uncanny X-Men #437, $2.25 Weapon X #16, $2.99

I'm not sure that there's anything that Osgood can do to make him a lock. IMO he's always been a good goalie who has been protected by very good-to-great teams in front of him.
-
Shouldn't they be doing that with all the writers they hire? I mean... at LEAST 6 months. In the case of The Ultimates, maybe they should consider having the WHOLE FRICKING SERIES done first before releasing it...

Gilmour is a lose-lose situation, because either way, you'll have You-Know-Who ranting for month about it. And I thought Dino was already in? Second best front-of-the-crease goalscorer ever, and 500+ goals to boot. Not a bad career at all.
-
Thoughts: - The Chuker will make it based on his goal total alone. How can you not put the best front-of-the-crease goalscorer of all time in the hall? - Mike Modano is also a surefire HoFer. Best American player ever? I tend to think so, although I keep hearing things about Zach Parise. - I hate him with a passion, but Chris Chelios will probably make it in as well. - Sundin is a surefire LEAFS hall of famer, but probably not a hockey HoFer yet. He'll need to win the Cup first. - If Bure and Fedorov both make it, I think that it's only fitting that they be beside each other with a picture of Anna Kournikova in the middle. - I'd love to see Trevor Linden in the Hall, but I think that it's rather unlikely. - Of the guys on the list, I'd put Richter as borderline. By goalie standards, he's very good, but not great. But being an American-born goalie may put him in. - Stevie Y, I wish he'd retired after the Wings won the cup. He's still got legs, but I'd have liked to see him go out on top. - Speaking of which, someone tell Moose to retire already. - Personally, I think that they should waive the eligibilty rule for Roy. Not only was he That Damn Good, but he redifined the way goalies play with his Butterfly technique.

Unfortunately the owners of Green and Davis aren't nucking futs, so it's not gonna happen. The thing is that in my league RBs get bonus points for catching a TD, which makes Westbrook a valuable 4th RB. Ideally, I'd like to move (William) Green for another RB, but it seems unlikely at this point. I may try to trade him for Kevan Barlow, but in my mind I'm thinking that my being a fan of the Niners is overrating Barlow. Or underrating Green, I'm not sure which.
-
Are you only allowed one player at each position? And are all these guys protection eligible? My general strategy here would be to protect in this order: RB (+Randy Moss and Marvin Harrison), QB, K, WR (except Moss and Harrison, incl Sharpe, Gonzalez and maybe Shockey). So if you can, I'd keep Bennett over Johnson. --- I have my own protection question. In my keeper league I can protect up to 4 RB/WR/TE. I plan on using all slots for RBs, but my problem is that I have 5 RBs that I should probably protect. My RBs are: Tiki Barber Marshall Faulk (You) William Green James Stewart (I picked him up on IR late in the season) Brian Westbrook I'd probably drop Stewart. What do you think?

I'm a big McNair fan, but I think that Manning shoulda pulled it out in the end. The Titans winning with a guy named Billy and by dusting off Neil O'Donnell should have been the deciding factor.

No. Boiler Room. Then again, his part was completely insignificant to the main plotline, as I recall. Boiler Room was all about Giovanni Ribisi. Affleck and Diesel were kinda there.

Yeah, I read that. Looking back, a lot of stuff about X-Men: Alpha was pretty accurate. Roger Cruz wasn't ready for an "event" book, and it showed. As for Harras micromanaging things, well, I'm not exactly surprised there. Overall though, I did enjoy the AoA storyline, so I guess I can't really complain in the end.

Thanks for this. I really don't read the Torch that much, so this is new to me. I dunno about best player of all time, but I'd rank him as the second best player that didn't win. I'd still rank Richard Hatch, Brian from Thailand and Rob from the Amazon as better players. The thing with Jon is that I think he really did piss off the other players, which Rob didn't do, so Jon was voted out due to hate (and possibly milking the grandma thing a bit too much), while Rob was voted out due to strategy. In the end though, third (~$75K) is not bad and the dead grandma thing ranks as the most evil - and one of the most brilliant - things ever done on the show.

Now keep in mind I don't like the show at all but, she did win an Emmy for her guest spot on Friends. But, I guess you meant something that she's done that YOU have liked. I've never seen an episode of Friends, so I'm in the dark about her apperance on there. Applegate played Rachel's sister, who wasn't particularly bright and was rather self-centered. So in essence a variant on Kelly Bundy. Gotta agree with Julia Roberts. I just find her to be a really wooden actress. Keanu... it goes without saying, really. And here's my own pick: Chris Tucker.

Ah yes. That gay Eskimo song was a classic. I thought Phil Lamarr was underused on the show. Mind you, I only came to that conclusion after he was on an ep of "Whose Line is it Anyway?" (UK version in the US). That guy, Michael McDonald, is incredibly unfunny. Makes me want to throttle him...

TV shows you like well enough to own on DVD
starvenger replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
Crap. Forgot that I had The Complete Bean. It's one of those DVDs where you don't have to watch the whole thing. In fact, if you're at a party and HAVE to have something on the TV to entertain some people, it's perfect for that. I also have Battle of the Planets. Forgot about that one, too. wrt anime, I'd love to see some of the earlier stuff done. Especially the early anime-to-cartoon stuff, like Voltron and Force Five. Thundercats (it's not anime, of course) would be cool as well - I could get VCDs from any comicon, but I'd like to get some nice remastered sets, y'know? -
No, the Trek universe is happy happy. Firefly is the opposite of that. More or less. Sorry, I reread what I wrote and realized that it was confusing...

Star Trek: TNG Star Trek: DS9 Friends (still going) Dark Angel Transformers (still ongoing) Gundam Wing (should probably count) Robotech On my "maybe" list: Saved By The Bell 24 Not out yet but I WILL get them: G.I. Joe Star Trek: TOS -
Here's the reason: Friday, 8pm ET. X-Files somehow spoiled Fox into thinking that this is the perfect time for a fanboy-oriented drama, when really, it's more of a "TGIF" night. Some of the shows that have appeared (and failed) in that timeslot: - Millenium - The Lone Gunmen - Dark Angel (which was dumped because they were so high on Firefly - which of course they cancelled halfway through the season. Sound logic, eh?) - Firefly - Whatever was there last year. Fastlane?
-
The problem was that they were on the same team, and that team improved as a whole, not just two rookies. Arizona being Arizona, Boldin was just about the only thing they had going for them, which makes him stand out more.

Which is basically what I hated about it. I like Sci-Fi, but I don't like westerns. Still, I gave it a try, went "bleh", and moved on. I can suspend all sorts of disbelief for sci-fi, but one where EVERY FUCKING WORLD is back to the era of the western. This is the opposite end of the Trek scale, where I hate that everything is happy happy (which may explain why I like DS9 the best out of the Trek series). But the main thing here was that none of the main characters really appealed to me - I didn't think that any of them were particularly likeable. And when you have that lack of connection to the show, you're gonna tune out.
-
Personally, I think the WWE is making the same mistakes as the Trek franchise, but that's neither here nor there. btw, Joss comes off a bit like a pretentious ass in that interview bit - it sounds like he's the first writer to find out that his stuff gets rewritten...

There's only one way to settle this: oil wrestling (with Joey Styles doing PBP)

HUGE lot this week. Which reminds me that I haven't gone to get LAST week's comics, either... Transformers Generation One Vol 3 #0, $2.95

Interesting analogy, but there haven't been any Autobots who became Decepticons, have there? And no, Skyfire doesn't count.
