    Wizard World Dallas

I was thinking of going, but then I needed to fly back to Toronto, so no WW Texas for me. I really wanted to meet George Perez, but it's not to be, I guess...
  2. Geez, a Dat Nguyen reference? How often do you get that in a Smackdown report?

The One and Only Smackdown Thread

Well, they DID tell us that over 10 years ago. I suppose that makes Sara Undertaker a necrophiliac. If you see a guy in a Maple Leafs sweater (doubtful you will), that's me...

Just a quick fantasy football bitch session

This is why it sometimes pays to be in a league with a guy who's dedicated enough to slog through the stats week in and week out to come up with the scores. Although personally I think my buddy is nuts and should really have just made an Excel spreadsheet to cover all the stats (yes, he does it all by hand for a 14 team league AND a 10 team league).

Good thing he did. That Ric Flair guy is gonna be a superstar someday, bah gawd...

    More William Green news

No, Playmakers isn't realistic. Not at all...
  8. Well, technically, it's an acronym...
  9. To be honest it didn't look like it, but when a chick wears fake fur and septegenarian sunglasses it's hard to tell anything. Don't forget about Funaki. Mind you, he did kick out of the Jungle Kick, but fell victim to the Samoan drop. Speaking of which, if Palumbo's using that as a finisher, maybe he should change "Samoan" to something that rhymes with "drop". And London jobbed to Nunzio, who last I checked is also a cruiserweight. But since London = tag wrestler, and Nunzio = singles wrestler (sorta), the result was pretty much what you'd expect. It wasn't mentioned before, but Tajiri and Sakoda were not at ringside, which pretty much gives away the finish right there. For the most part I thought it looked like Akio (Yang) was booked pretty strong.

    The degeneration of modern music...

It reminds me of a Justin Timberlake song, except it's devoid of any sort of emotion. Doesn't matter, though. Britney's more about the flash than substance, anyways... DJ Sammy or The Ataris?

    GBA Games

I just got Wario Ware, and it's a great time killer. And all the games are quick, to boot. Any good GBA (non-extreme) sports games? I'm still playing the GBC Mario Tennis and Mario Golf since I can't find anything better...

Who can LEAST afford to lose their QB?

You know what the best thing about Tim Hasselbeck is? His wife, Elizabeth from Survivor Australia. Damn that girl is nice...

    New Releases For 11/18/2003

Transformers GI Joe #3 (Of 6), $2.95 That's it, although I must say that they're really milking Thundercats for all it's worth. Superman/Thundercats? Ye gods.

    Last book you read

Just finished rereading "The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Morgawr" by Terry Brooks. One of the best ongoing fantasy series right now. Before that, I finished "Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: The Final Prophecy" by Greg Keyes. A very good build towards the finale, and I'm hoping that James Luceno's book (on it's way from Barnes and Noble.com) doesn't disappoint.
  15. Your friendly neighbourhood Chinese-Canadian in Tejas was in attendance at Smackdown (I just got back because I met some friends at a bar later on), so let me give a little feedback on the happenings: FYI, the upper bowl was tarped off. Not a huge loss, as the upper bowl doesn't seem that big. The "U" left in the lower bowl was pretty full, though. Actually these two were the curtain jerkers. OJ/Kanyon match wasn't all that bad. Then again, it wasn't great, either. Jordan won with a high crossbody press, J-Lo won with a rollup. On to Velocity proper This will be YOUR Velocity match of the night. Paul London did a double jump springboard moonsault onto Nunzio's knees, and Nunzio hit a 2nd rope front dropkick for the pin. Remember when O'Haire had potential? Pace was what CRZ used to call "deliberate". Dragon missed the Asai and O'Haire hit the Widowmaker for the pin. They should let him use the Seanton Bomb. Spirited match, Funaki was kinda over, but in the end, he got whacked. (edit)oops, Funaki kicked out of the Jungle Kick, and succumbed to a DEVASTATING Samoan drop... I'm pretty sure he won with the worm, but to be honest, I went to take a piss and get another Shiner (which, at $7 for a pint, was a "bargain"). Right around here Rue ruined America The Beautiful by doing what all the singers do and trying to "make it their own". I'm all for a little ad-libbing, but the emphasis is on little. Kiss principle should apply... Tony Chimel pumped us up for the pyro, but sadly there was none for us today. Cena's rap had a "stretched until you're as tall as Yao Ming" verse, which obviously got a pop. Audience Participation Rhyming Word was "suck" (which apparently Sable taught Vince to do). Probably your match of the night. But then, I suppose I should be biased towards my fellow Banana Jimmy Yang. Akio missed Yang Time, and Rey went 'rana-619-WCP for the win. Morgan did the rotation bomb that DDP used to do for the win. Moore bumped pretty well, but back to Velocity for him. Another piss break. Bradshaw went for the Clothesline from Heck and Albert hit him with the bicycle kick. Bradshaw also took a Baldobomb on the floor. Surprisingly not an awful match, although granted I only saw the last 2 min or so. Benoit got some good pops. Jones is a bit better bumper than Morgan, but I'd say Morgan has the better offence (although that's not saying much). Look for the usual Benoit spots, but Chris, sadly is no miracle worker, and could only carry Jones to an "eh" match. This was actually pretty good. One of ZZ Top came out to ringside around this time. I don't know which one of the two guitarists it was. Decent match, no heat, save for Tajiri's kicks and some of Noble's highspots. Oh, and nothing seems different about Nidia. Criminally short. Given the large Hispanic population in Houston, I'm sure you can guess who got a big pop. Yay? This can only mean one thing - a Hispanic gang to match up with the Yakuza and the FBI. Or Pepe II. Show blew a powerbomb spot, but it wasn't all that offensive a match. About a thumbs in the middle show all told, I think. Fun though, and it's only about 10 blocks from my office, so if they come back again, I'm there.

Melon Head is the THG...I mean MVP

Well. If you don't think a pitcher should win MVP. Why give him any votes at all? My point is that I thought that writers would at least acknowledge how valuable Gagne was to his team. MVP should be for ALL players, not "non-pitchers"...

    Bucs de-activate Keyshawn Johnson

Keyshawn AND Terry Glenn? I don't care how much of a "master motivator" Parcells is, the football gods would not look favourably at this. And I suppose that Tampa is trying to shake the "McCardell scoring = L" jinx?

Melon Head is the THG...I mean MVP

So Eric Gagne got no first place votes? I realize that the MVP award is skewed against pitchers because of the Cy Young, but still...

    Doc Rivers fired by Magic

    Timeline...

If you read the book asshole you'd know there is NO TIME TRAVEL in it. Damn I hate hollywood The thing is, he's right. A movie that is based on a book will only stick to what's written if it's convenient or makes for a better movie or if the filmmaker insists that something must be in the movie. If you're an actor and you go in with the idea that the movie will be exactly like the book, you'll be sorely disappointed.

All of the Crichton novel-based movies that I've seen haven't been very good, except for Jurassic Park, and that wasn't great. This'll be a rental for me...

Can Barry Bonds ever be liked by main stream fans?

He'll be viewed in a much more favourable light 10 years after he retires. But, take off that fucking ridiculous armour and maybe, MAYBE he'll get some more respect in the here and now...
