The One and Only Survivor: Pearl Islands Thread
starvenger replied to fairtoflair7's topic in Television & Film
Bump. Watching yesterday, I'd have to say that Michelle really deserved to go. She took the Drake gameplan and threw it right out the window. Anyways, now that it's a 6-5 advantage for Drake, I'm sure that Burnett tried his hardest to get Morgan to win the final pre-merge immunity... -
In my keeper league I just acquired Brad Johnson for Kerry Collins and 5th in next years draft, and happily this also matches my QBs in my other league (where I also have Drew Bledsoe). So my dilemma is, do I start Steve McNair against a tough Carolina D where I know he'll be forced to pass, or do I start Johnson when several of his receivers are hurting and they'll likely look to Pittman to pound on the 49ers D-line?

Mixed feelings. On one hand, it's nice to see SportsCenter get burned. On the other hand, I really dislike Howard Stern...
-
I believe that's a big fat $0, but you'll have to pay state tax...

Sounds like over hard. I like mine over medium - oddly enough I just discovered that they have that. Still, I'll eat eggs any way I can get them. I like eggs...

I need to reread the book but I don't think that any of the principals return. It's a very good read, by the way.

Why would they collect this total piece of crap is beyond me. They never should have done a sequel to this story in the first place. Interestingly enough, the TPB also includes the original God Loves, Man Kills GN. I guess they want people to KNOW how bad the sequel is...

...and based on what I bought: Agent X #15 (6.5/10) - Not bad for a last issue. Gail Simone is probably the best person not named Nicieza to write the merc-with-a-mouth. Still, the ending was rather deux ex machina and I suppose it's expected what with Cable/Deadpool coming out. Remember, the next time you see Deadpool, he will be abnormally large, have freaking huge weaponry, and is clenching his teeth under his mask. Transformers/G.I. Joe #2 (7.5/10) - Have I mentioned how crappy G.I. Joe/Transformers was? This is worlds better. Jae Lee's art is perfect for the WWII setting used in this crossover, and John Ney Reiber is getting the characterizations down pat for both the Cybertronians and humans. Well, except for maybe Snake Eyes - I kinda liked the fact that he's always been an enigma where you never see even his thoughts. Exiles #36 (6.0/10) - I half expected the cliffhanger for this issue, and hopefully they go through with it. That's about it for this issue - it's all about the buildup for the loss of possibly another Exile. And I don't recall seeing Magik once. Odd... New X-Men #148 (6.5/10) - OK, Morrison's doing yet another slow build to the conclusion of his final X-arc. This issue features Magneto (in X-Men movie duds, btw) talking, and Wolverine and Phoenix talking. I'm sure it's going somewhere, but as a standalone this issue isn't that great. Except for the art. Phil Jiminez draws real purty. Weapon X #14 (6.5/10) - Unnoticed thanks to the whole Xorn/Magneto thing is the fact that Tieri also did a slow build to revealing a villain in this book. In this case, we have Mr. Sinister. And in this issue, we get a backstory/retcon about Sinister toying with genetics during the Invaders era. In other words, they're not telling you anything that you don't already know. John Paul Leon's art, like Jae Lee's, lends itself well to the WWII era.

Isn't General Ross from the Incredible Hulk named Thaddeus?

Wasn't Captain Planet just a ego-trip thing for Ted Turner? You know, I completely forgot about Orko. Add another to the cartoon Hall of Lame. But then again, he did get some... um, whatever he is, so I guess he can't be bottom 10. Others I forgot about: - HammerMan. Gotta love those ego things. - the Tiger Sharks. 3rd version, 3rd rate Thundercats. - Lifeline from G.I. Joe. From what I remember he's a pacifist. In an elite military force designed to take down the world's foremost terrorist organization. Doc shoulda kicked his ass. - Scott Tracker and his stupid robot, from M.A.S.K. When the kids are fucking annoying to the kids watching a show, then you've got a problem. Speaking of stupid robots... - 7-Zark-7 and 1-Rover-1. The sad part is that if you cut them out Battle Of The Planets would all be 5 minute episodes. - Newton. Stupid, stupid centaur. Stupid, stupid centaur. As I've said before, Wendy and Marvin are lamer. The Wonder Twins are like Black Vulcan compared to these two.

Just curious, but what kind of cheese is it?
-
Sometimes you've got to strike while the iron is cooling to the point of frigid...
-
Daniel is another annoying snot. Spike may have at least gotten some...
-
If this were my list, Wheelie would probably be on there, with all of the Go-Bots...
-
The Wonder Twins make the list, but not Wendy and Marvin? What a travesty...
-
I think they're gonna have a 3-way...

Well, TF S3p1 is on order and I should have it soon. Next, I drop another 2 bills to complete my ST: DS9 collection, and pay whatever for Friends season 5. If I've got the money, then Dark Angel season 2 (or final season, depending on how you look at it) and Beast Wars season 1 set that I haven't gotten yet. And probably Dawson's Creek or SBTB for my brother(s) for Xmas.
-
Personally I'm trying to ignore the whole thing as well. Except for this thread, that is...
-
If she's acting, wouldn't Nick, his brother and his brother's gf have been laughing WITH her when she made the buffalo wing comment? Near as I can tell they're laughing AT her. I dunno, maybe she's got them all suckered with the act...
-
Since when have sitcoms been realistic? And it's a live audience laughing, although I'm sure that in some cases the sound has been sweetened (if it's the 10th take of a scene I can't see anyone laughing a lot anymore). I must admit, though, that Friends is the only sitcom that I peg as a "must see" for weekly viewing. But I suppose that it's the only one out there that I can somewhat relate to. Well, as much as a Chinese-Canadian guy living in Houston can relate, anyways.

So... where did D'Arcy come from? Or was that just to give Marcy a ridiculous rhyming name?
-
I can buy that. 80mph sounds good for a press release. Still, the car was totalled, Snyder died and Heatley has a bunch of injuries. I just don't see him getting off the hook for it unless they try to "make an example" out of an athlete. Treat him exactly as how the situation would seem to warrant - a guy who drove too fast and had someone else pay the price for it. Btw (as noted in a previous thread) Craig McTavish made it back to the NHL AFTER serving jail time for a similar 'accidental' offence, so Heatley could conceivably make it back as well if there is no jail time. BUT, if he gets thrown in the slammer (remember the minimum jail time is 3 years), I don't think that he will. Four years (recovery + jail time) is just too much for a guy to stay off the ice if you're locked away for most of it.

I'm going a bit back (U of Toronto 91-96) but dorm food was by and large pretty gross. I do remember that a lot of deli sandwiches left the dining hall at lunch for a late night snack later. The caf at the engineering buildings wasn't much better. It was good for 2 things: Fries with gravy and muffins. Fortunately, U of T borders Toronto's (2nd) Chinatown, so you could always get decent food for cheap. And hot dog vendors EVERYWHERE.

They can still charge him with reckless driving, vehicular homicide, etc. And I think that the state can still press charges if they feel that it's warranted. The family not pressing charges can influence the state to not continue, but it doesn't mean that they won't. I'm really not sure which way they'll go, but I do know that you don't go 80mph by accident.
