Playmakers and the awesomeness of DH

Yeah, their brothers. Guess which one I think has the most talent... hint: Its not the one with the fucking OSCAR at home. C'mon, Cuba was brilliant in Snow Dogs...

Playmakers and the awesomeness of DH

They need more Kathryn Humphries, Thea Andrews, and local T-Dot "ballerinas" on the show...

    NHL Free Agency 2003

I think Seattle might be the closest NFL team to Calgary, actually. Plus the Stampeders are sucking this year.

    The Joe Schmo Show

I just now figured out you meant this in connection to Sasha Mitchell. The deal was his wife was abusing their children and he attacked her to defend them. He now has soul custody of their four children and she can only have five strictly supervised visits with them per year. Well, score one for the Codester, then. Or was it the Code-man? I can't remember...

    NHL Free Agency 2003

Well, new GM John "Turd" Ferguson has gotten Svehla officially retired and signed Nieuwendyk. That's too much progress for the Leafs. Fire him!!

    The Reality of Reality TV

I like the whole "behind the scenes" aspect of it, but they're trying too hard to push the fact that not everything is exactly what it seems.

    Doug Gilmour retires

Stevie Y shouldn't retire. Ya his last season sucked, but he hasn't really became a shell of him self from the glory days, like Messier. That's exactly what I'm afraid will happen, actually.

ESPN says PNC Park is the best

Ain't that the truth. SkyDome is a decent place to watch the game when the roof is open. Seeing the CN Tower rising beside SkyDome is a great view. Of course, when it's closed then it sucks about as much as the other domed baseball stadiums. It's amazing how all that concrete sucks the life right out of you.

    1-800-COLLECT commercial question

OK, I knew that they were shilling something... Don Adams shilled for a Canadian 10-10 service. Anyone remember the number? It was like 10-10-55-321 or something...

    Underworld: When the battle begins

What, no La Parka vote yet? Actually, they both bite. (ducks flying bricks)

    1-800-COLLECT commercial question

let me as you this: why the fuck isn't an Oscar winner like Cuba Gooding, Jr NOT shilling a cell phone. "Snow Dogs"? That gay cruise (boat, not Tom) movie? Shilling a phone would've been a much better career move for him, I think. From what I've seen, MCI - Danny Glover Nextel - Eric McCormack, George Lopez Danny DeVito and Laurence Fishburne were shilling something, but I can't remember what. Could have been MCI as well...

    The Joe Schmo Show

I thought that was scripted? I used to live in the town where that was filmed. The murder mysteries were staged and all the characters were actors, but the people investigating it were not. They were like contestants on a game show and they had to interact with the characters and try and solve the crimes. I read in an article that the murder mystery aspect of the show was constantly being rewritten, and that the contestants were really going overboard with the investigations and such, which made it more stressful for the actors who - like these people in the Joe Schmoe Show - were basically forced to be in character 24/7. Still, it was fun to watch. Not as fun as the Mole (which really needs another non-celeb edition) or The Amazing Race, but definitely a great show that would have gotten better had they been able to refine it more (i.e. another season). Anyways, having finally watched the whole premiere, Matt is either the biggest idiot ever, or he's an actor who's playing the other actors for fools, in which case THEY'RE the biggest idiots ever. I'm leaning towards the latter, because Matt just seems to be a little too dense, know what I mean? And here's an odd thing I noticed - during some portions where they talk to Matt, they use some of the same stock music that they used on The Mole. Coincidence?

    Messier to play 2003-04

Welcome to the old folks home!!! I was born in '73, so I'll be hitting the three-oh mark later this year. I even (vaguely) remember when the Islanders didn't suck, the Leafs did (literally, not just in the minds of the Leaf haters) and the people went to Expos games.

The official 2003 NBA free agents thread

From that Nike commercial (I think) to the Raptors to the And 1 tour to the Heat. Quite the whirlwind tour for Mr. Alston...

    Doug Gilmour retires

Stevie Y could probably learn from this as well. Yzerman's a great guy, but I think it's time for him to go. Anyways, it's nice to see that Gilmour did that one day contract thing so that he could retire as a Leaf. Well, ok, he didn't really, but it was effectively a one game stint last year, y'know?

    Halladay pitches 10-inning shutout

I think Gagne's stated in interviews that he really shouldn't be considered for the Cy Young since relievers are more "everyday Joes" instead of the "every 4 days" usage of the starters. I see his point, but I don't think that he'll be given much consideration for MVP, so they'll give him the Cy.

    Reality TV Award Show...

So basically, it's clip show filler for ABC. And even though I like some reality shows - Survivor, Amazing Race, Mole, Beg Borrow and Deal (notice that three of them involve travel and completing tasks?) - I don't think I'll be watching this. But then, I hate watching awards shows.

    Messier to play 2003-04

Wow, I didn't realize Moose was that close to Howe. Still, how many years in a row has it been since people have been asking "Why doesn't Messier retire?"

Blue Jays unveil a new logo for 2004

One of the Toronto Star writers had a funny column where he noted that the Jays should just drop the "J" so that they can become like the team Godfrey and Ricciardi want them to be - the A(y)'s or "Eh's".

    Buffet Mania!

If it's all-u-can-eat sushi and sashimi, I'd be all over it. The sushi rice will get to you after a few rolls, but if you stick to just the fish, you be eating some serious amounts of protein. China Buffet Kings in Toronto rule all. Not only do they have the Chinese-American stuff, but they've got a good helping of more traditional Chinese dishes, Peking Duck, sushi, dim sum (at lunch) AND hot pot. I haven't found a good buffet in Houston though. Mind you, I haven't been looking either...
