Another greenhorn injures Stevie Richards
starvenger replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
Because a) Whether you like it or not, he's enhancement talent at this juncture, b) Funaki is busy jobbing to cruiserweights, and c) These kids are supposedly PRO wrestlers, and should have some idea of how not to hurt the other guy. -
Even if the guy sucked as an actor, it sounds cool just to be able to make an announcement saying "Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has joined our cast"...

Ben Mulroney on Canadian Idol makes Paula look mean by comparison... -
I'd think Duce Staley would have him beat. For football, I'm partial to Alge Crumpler.

There's that lingering feeling that it's wrong somehow, but as this will lead to the inevitable "Spinal Tap search for a new drummer", I'm ok with it...
-
Momentum is in his favour, to be sure. One can always hope, though.

If Transformers wasn't enough..

I don't know how it went exactly, but I think the <i>Sentai</i> craze inspired <i>GoLion</i> (Voltron) and <i>GoLion</i> inspired the Sentai move to using vehicles/animals/whatever that merged into one robot. The Power Rangers movies were some serious cheese. The first one used some really bad CGI and had a bad plot - not surprising, if you've seen enough (about 3) Power Rangers episodes. The second one also had a bad plot, but was better fight wise because they went with the rubber suits, which is kinda odd when you think about it. Glad I'm not the only one that feels that way. Don't know which was worse there, the animation or the plot. -
OK, I don't mean to slam you, but that was such a markish first post I had to check to see if I was in the Wrestling forum. Anyways... If by "edgy" you mean that they're competing to front a band and charisma means just as much (if not more) as singing ability, or that Dave Navarro is (maybe unintentionally) trying to prove that Carmen Electra is his beard, then yes, it is "edgy". Otherwise, well, it's a singing audition to front a band, with some minor label recording artists (Tara Sloane and the black guy come to mind) mixed in with garage band types. Nothing particularly earth-shattering here, but it's decent summer fare, and the type of reality tv that I welcome.

That's quite good. The Civic Holiday show (or Monday as it's called in the US) looks pretty decent.

...and now he's gonna feud with Slaughter because he uses the Cobra Clutch as a finisher.

Is this man trying to kill the X-Men franchise? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This originally came from the NY Post, which has been known for "occasionally" putting rumours to print. The character described is Stacy X by the way - probably one of the least liked X-Men ever.

What do you expect? We live in a world where the media focuses more on the negative than the positive. I'll agree in part. The last part of his interview was stupid, impulsive and potentially hurt the game, but it wasn't wrong to say it.

405 would be local to LA, so I'm saying Hogan. If it were Mysterio, they'd probably have said I-5... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hogan lives in Florida... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Isn't he still kayfabed as Venice Beach?

Even Better: http://www.hobbystar.com/ComicConTorontoV2/CC_Fear_Home.asp <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Same convention. Also, Crispin Glover!! Although if you go, watch out for the anime fans. They're a bit obsessive.

Hey Rudo, do you live in the GTA? If so, check this out. Adam Baldwin and James Marsters are signing autographs...

...Craft services? And I agree with you on Juggernaut and Shadowcat. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Probably means whatever food and stuff Sir Ian wants. You know, whatever riders are in his contract...

Yes, that was his debut. Chris Claremont and Andy Kubert, with Jim Lee doing the covers. (Note: Comics history alert. Scroll down for more comments) Basically, that story covers what happens to Storm after she emerges from the Siege Perilous. I don't remember whether the Siege de-aged her or Nanny did, but the crux is that Nanny (think an egg with legs. No seriously) was after her as Storm was reliving her youth as a thief. Gambit rescues her, and they become partners in crime. Storm regains her memories, and they then go off looking for the other X-Men. By the X-Tinction Agenda the "team" (such as it was) consisted of Wolverine, Storm, Psylocke, Forge, Banshee, Jubilee and Gambit. So basically, 3 "official" members, a part-timer, Forge, and Logan and Ororo's sidekicks. Anyways, Storm got de-de-aged during X-Tinction Agenda, and then they took off to the Shi'ar Empire, re-hooked up with Xavier, and went back to Earth to rebuild the school. Well, after the whole mess with the Shadow King, anyways. It's at this point where Gambit (and Jubilee) officially becomes an X-Man (because up until then there hadn't been an "official" leader of the team). Right at X-Men #1, the start of the short-lived Lee/Portacio era. (End comics history stuff) Insert "lover's quarrel" joke here. In seriousness, I think it may have been the makeup and greenscreen work that Alan surely had to do to make Nightcrawler come to life.

I think you just answered your own question. People like Gambit because he's a classic anti-hero, and he has an aura of mystery to him so as you never quite know where he stands. I mean seriously, most of the X-Men are so square, a gambling, thieving rogue from the Latin Quarter spices things up a bit.playing both sides. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The funny thing about Gambit is that he was never "officially" an X-Man until X-Men #1 - much like Jubilee, he was kind of a hanger-on until then. And actually, he was pretty cool up until that point - because afterward they basically made him into a straightforward hero and it didn't really work for his character. Aren't he and Singer tight? That's the conspiracy theorist in me talking. Anyways, Nightcrawler as they've envisioned him in the movie has been developed similar to the cartoon version, meaning that he doesn't have to be in the movie if they don't need him. Plus if what's going on with Mystique is true, then the one money plot they can use with him is wasted.
