Specter again questions Goodell on Patriots spying allegations
majormayhem1 replied to Jaxxson Mayhem's topic in Sports
I think it's part of his re-election campaign. -
I couldn't stay up late enough to watch it last night. Those of you who did see it, what did you think?
-
ok Edge/UT in a casket match. What do you think of the rest?

WWE General Discussion - February 2008

And that would be a bad thing, right?? I understand what you all are saying, though. But, with their DVD sales and WWE 24/7, they could stop producing shows. I think they're doing just fine. -
WWE General Discussion - February 2008

The reason people care is that the number one goal of professional wrestling is to make money. This isn't a legitimate sport that just exists to determine the best competitor. It exists as an entertainment product and the only way to measure success in meeting this goal is by analyzing how much money it makes. Why take the time to discuss angles and booking if you're not concerned with the end product? Those things exist to SELL the ppv. Sure, it's got to build to something, but I'm not actually working in the business so buy rates are really none of my concern unless I work for the company or own stock. This is all about fun and matchmaking for me. I know what I want to see as a fan, but am I really concerned with how many people are going to buy a pay-per-view or what weekly ratings are? No. Wrestling fans (not smart fans) will buy the pay-per-view if they are into wrestling, no matter what is going on. -

WWE General Discussion - February 2008

I disagree, people act like the average fan sits around and analyzes the fact that Jeff Hardy lost to Orton at Royal Rumble and would therefore shit on a subsequent title reign. In actuality, the average wrestling fan is fucking retarded and wouldn't even care that he lost to Orton if he beat him a month from now. Smart fans put too much stock into shit like this. If Hardy won the belt tomorrow, that most likely, would not affect Wrestlemania buyrates What's a smart fan? Someone with a high IQ? Why are "smart fans" so concerned with fucking pay-per-view buy rates? Get a life. It's one thing to talk about angles, booking, and work rate but concerning yourself with how many people are buying the pay-per-views is really pathetic. -
I think the fact that 5 men held the tag team titles was what really put the belts in the gutter. The Spirit Squad convinced me to stop watching WWE in 2005.

Starrcade was the NWA/WCW's signature. It was around before WrestleMania, and it most certainly warrants a DVD. Many classic battles took place at this event. By the way, BattleBowl was an awesome idea.

There's a lot of talk about the gay factor of X-factor's music and there's no doubt it was. But, perhaps that is the legacy of X-factor. Think of all the pop radio theme music on the current WWE roster. Kane's music immediately comes to mind. As far as X-factor goes, I had them erased from my mind. Then, this thread appeared.

I think we're all glad to see ECW progressing this past week. A good foundation has been poured for the next month of shows and I enjoy watching the storylines progress. I thought Benjamin vs. Kane was a good match and Punk and Guerrero's feud gets better each week. The ending of the championship fiesta was great, one of the best guitar shots ever. I don't know about this talk of Punk being buried though. He lost clean to Edge, but Edge is the World Heavyweight Champion. Punk is up and coming right now, so I don't think a loss to Edge really hurts him too bad in the long run. Fear not Punk fans.

I like the Orton/Batista idea. The last match on the card should be Orton/Batista or Orton/Cena.

If the analysts talk for two weeks about how the Patriots are going to dismantle the Giants, no one will want to watch the event. However, if they talk for two weeks about how and why the Giants are going to win, then people will tune in and watch the the game and, more importantly, the commercials. And, NY was beating the Pats in week 17 by 12, until Manning showed up. So, who knows what will happen? But, they have to give the people a reason to watch the game. Personally, I am looking forward to the halftime show.

Starrcade is one of the premier events in the pay-per-view era of wrestling. It warrants a long doc. In fact, the WWE should bring it back and get rid of some these lame themes they have. No Way Out? What the fuck is that all about?

WWE 24/7 Discussion Thread - February 2008
majormayhem1 replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in WWE Multimedia
I wish I had this channel, too. Then again, maybe it's a blessing. -
There's a big difference between the monthly pay per views and WrestleMania. Has Cena vs. Orton ever taken place at WrestleMania? No. Since WrestleMania is the "showcase of the immortals" and these are your two biggest stars right now, let them have the chance to dazzle the Citrus Bowl at WrestleMania 24. Instead of wasting a World title match with Flair vs. Edge, why not put Flair in a match against *insert legend here*? Maybe Hulk Hogan? Aren't the "Hogan at WrestleMania" rumors starting again? That's just not smart booking to put Flair in a title match, especially against Edge. There are a number of other people Edge could face. As much as I don't like Jeff Hardy as heavyweight champion, I could see the WWE doing something like Dragon and Haws were discussing. I think that would be neat, but Jeff Hardy would have to drop the title at Backlash.
-
No. The great the thing is that nobody has to do it. The more Flair wins the better the angle gets. As long as he's not winning championships what is the harm in having him on the roster? He's still delivering wonderful promos and intriguing matches. If it gets to the point where he can't wrestle a decent match than retire him. But, this angle could go on and on and on....I'd much rather see Orton vs. Cena. They are the future of the company and it's time that they had a chance to shine.

Former American Gladiator Host Mike Adamle Joins WWE
majormayhem1 replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
He is the ultimate Sean Mooney and I mean that in the sincerest way possible. He adds a whole other level of professionalism to announce team and I'm glad to see him with the company. -
Because now you hate him even more.

Classic Rock Magazine declared "Chinese Democracy" the number one album of the year for 2007 based on the amount of "bootlegging" that has gone on. I thought that was funny.

I consider the "Hulkamania era" to be broken up into two parts. The first part beginning upon his entrance into the World Wrestling Federation and his victory over the Iron Shiek. The peak came at WrestleMania, 3 as you said. But, I think the next year at WrestleMania 4 a new era began. The golden era wasn't over by any means, but the core of talent had changed from the the previous 4 years. Shiek, Studd, Bundy, JYD, Piper, Snuka, Orton, etc. were either gone or leaving and were replaced by Honky, Warrior, Rude, Savage. A different cast of characters, but they made a nice transistion and continued to thrive. At WrestleMania 6, another peak was marked and then there was another shift. Andre left, the Warrior won the title, etc. The year leading up to WrestleMania 7 was probably the most dramatic of the era, up to that point. After that, the entire landscape began to change. By the time WrestleMania 8 rolled around, I sensed that the WWF, as I had always known it, was over.
-
I've always considered WrestleMania 8 the end of the golden era of wrestling. But, perhaps the end really took place at Royal Rumble '92.

Slash I've been reading his autobiography. When he says he's lucky to be alive, he's not blowing smoke out his ass.

Austin was turning heel long before Vince showed up during the match, and nobody caught on until the end. "D.T.A" Austin has always been a heel in my book.

Best post in the whole thread. If you have a shit fetish, that's you're business. I'm not here to judge you. But, U2 hasn't done anything for me musically since "One."
