    Favorite gimmick episodes

How about that one Simpsons where every the characters had their own little story (like Lisa getting the gum in her hair)? I always liked that one.

FUCK THEM! I was looking forward to seeing him have some kind of interaction with Arn!

    Least Professional

And again, I'm almost positive I've seen Perfect take the same bump. I'd hate to turn this into one of those stupid "if wrestler X did it..." debates, but I don't get why it's so unprofessional in Shawn's case while Perfect gets a free pass on that stuff.

    Least Professional

Minor gripe...not that I think Shawn's captain professional or anything, but was his overselling vs Hogan really THAT bad? I mean, Curt Hennig used to do similar bumps all the time and didn't get half the shit (Ok, the big boot spot was a little much, but still...). As to who's unprofessional...I dunno, but I'll say those who have taken unscripted cheap shots at other workers (i.e. HHH against Jericho in 99 and Goldberg in 03) aren't very nice.

Did Sid ever return from this?

I thought that was a REALLY fun time period for WWF which often gets overlooked due to Nitro. All I wanted to say. Bye now.

    Best beatdowns

He meant 02 I think. And it was bad ass before the whole semi thing came into play. The nWo attack at Disney is probably my favorite, mainly when Nash darted Rey into the trailer (which I thought was funny as hell). There was also a really good segment leading into Rumble 96 where Razor Ramon beat up Goldust. I swear I wore my VCR out watching that thing over and over. Another one I really liked was one prior to WMXX where Eddie Guerrero fought Paul Heyman with one arm tied behind his back and Kurt Angle came down and beat him up. Wasn't that brutal or anything, but the acting made it. Easily one of my top 3 favorite moments in the WWE era.

    PPV title matches question

How about Scott Hall? He got a title match against Bret Hart at Rumble 93 and never won a World Title to my knowledge. Edit: Fuck it!! Double Edit: No one said Mabel!! Yay me!

    Memorable/Favourite

"STONE COLD! STONE COLD! STONE COLD...IS GOING TO WRESTLEMANIA!!!" Also... "HOROWITZ WINS!!! HOROWITZ WINS!!! HOROWITZ WINS!!!" JR's reaction to Foley being tossed off the cell stands out in my mind as well.

Damn, I thought I was crazy. Put me down with the crew that discovered this site through Wrestleline.

    Shoots you thought were angles

Took me a while to figure out that Austin's neck injury in 97 was legit. All I can really think of.

    Paul Heyman sent home

I could see it working if done right. IMO, people are more passionate about about who's actually running ECW or whose vision is being presented than just about anything that's currently on the show now. If the shows were entertaining, word got out that Heyman was put back into power and given more free reign over the product, and if the Originals were made to look strong, it could bring a lot of people back to the show. It wouldn't even be that much of a storyline contradiction, because Heyman could always say that Vince forced him to act against the Originals (which is what most people probably believe anyway). Not saying it's a work at all, but if it was, it may not be a bad idea. You don't need to work the internet fans to do that. You just need to actually put on a good product. The working of the fans on the internet is just done for kicks and to get a buzz out of 'fooling the smarts'. It serves no real purpose other than kicks, because the internet fans make up such a small percentage of your fanbase even if they are usually the most vocal ones. It's the casual fans you need to worry about and as far as casual fans are aware, they don't even know any of this has happened and won't know until ECW airs. I don't exactly disagree with you, but in this issue especially, I don't think it'd hurt to work the net, and in this case it could possibly help more than it'd hurt simply because this isn't some random this is one of those issues that people tend to care about. Yes, we're a small portion of the fanbase, but we're the portion of the fanbase with the most connection to the ECW. We're the ones who are most likely to put down money to see ECW, and to get us riled up and really believing in the product (not to say that net fans would think the whole storyline's a shoot, but more along the lines of them being really vocal and involved) could--if done correctly--create a big enough buzz to attract some more viewers. And the thing about this type of angle is that while it'd be geared more to the hardcore fanbase, it's not so complicated that the casuals wouldn't be able to understand it, so the risk of alienating them isn't all that big if it plays out on TV. Plus if the hardcore crowd gets vocal enough and the weekly TV is entertaining enough, I think they'd fall right in line. Because this is an issue people care about is one reason why working the internet fans will just as likely keep them away than bring them back. Swerving them into coming back, even assuming you can do it, under the promise of Heyman coming back and gaining control isn't going to last long because those same people are going to quickly realize that Vince is running things, which he will do eventually. When that happens, they'll leave, and will be even less likely to come back the next time they try to swerve them or, somehow, Heyman really does gain power back. The internet fans create a buzz within their own community, but it's rarely a buzz that can bring in and sustain new long term fans unless the product in question is good enough to keep the casual fans around, and they make up the vast majority of fans. Casual fans are drawn in by what creates a buzz among them not among internet fans. Anything done with Heyman at this point creates no buzz among casual fans. Casual fans are the ones they need to worry about and the ones they need to hook in. Trying to work the internet fans to draw in the casual fans would a pointless exercise. They're totally different creatures. That'd be the biggest concern with running such an angle, since I'll concede that more likely than not that's what'd happen. On the casual fan issue, we've seen instances in the past where vocal portions of the audience have drawn in larger portions of the crowd (i.e. "You Screwed Matt" and to an extent some of the Cena hate off the top of my head). Now I know we're talking actual drawing as opposed to crowd reactions, but assuming you could get the vocal hardcore reaction you want and get them so involved that you could actually build a show around it (two big if's, I know), and most of all if it's entertaining (yeah...), then you could possibly have something on your hands to create that buzz within the casual community and attract them to your show, which is more along the line of what I was trying to get at in the original post.

Doesn't look like it's a work, so I probably typed all that shit up for nothing, but I think it could be interesting if it was. I mean, I've liked most of what I've seen of WWECW, but it'd be a lot easier to get into with issues/storylines that are based in something real and generate real passion, and this could be one of those issues.

  17. What's even worse is the week (I think it was the week before) before the whole "we're now the Voodoo Kin Mafia" angle took place, VKM did a "shoot" promo the week before saying how badly TNA dropped the ball with them and that they were done with TNA. Then a week later they were the VKM and were now leading TNA in a war agasint the WWE. How in the hell does that work? Didn't see the promo you're referring to, but on the primetime debut, they said they came back due to being given creative control by TNA, which they didn't have before. And I took it as more of a personal vendetta against DX than any kinda pro-TNA thing they were doing, but I could be wrong. I don't give a shit about it either way, though.

    Worked Angles...

The whole HBK collapse thing got me, and I think I'm the only person in the world who actually bought the "I lost my smile" speech...and teared up too. Wasn't me, but I invited my friend over to watch Halloween Havoc 95, and he completely bought into Hogan knocking the Giant off the roof, which I teased him about for years.

    OAO Primetime Debut Thread

I caught the show last night, which was maybe the first full TNA show I've seen since maybe January, so I figured I might as well comment. Maybe it's because I'm not familiar with the current storylines, but to me personlly it seemed like they may have tried to do a little too much on the show. Like, there was so much going on for a while that some stuff that should've seemed more important didn't really have the impact that it should've (the X-Title change and even Joe's post match beatdown on Lethal stand out most in my mind). And I wanted to fucking strangle West and Tenay by the end of the show with all that screaming they were doing. They ruined Kurt's entrance for me by talking through it...just wish they'd learn when to shut up. I did think the little flag burning angle with LAX was kinda cool, with a nice little touch by Tenay at the end with his whole "they went over the line" speech after the fact (really made it stand out from everything else). Christian and Rhyno was pretty fun too. Not sure if I agree with putting Abyss in there with Kurt just before his title shot, but the match was solid, and the aftermath was enjoyable too. Pretty good show overall.

Only way I could see Austin working as an announcer is if he was allowed to play heel, which you know wouldn't happen.

    TNA entrance music

I barely watch wrestling anymore, much less TNA, but I've gotta show love to AJ's theme. That song gets me hype everytime I hear it, and excluding the some of the "real" songs used by ROH and other indies, I can't think of anything in wrestling that comes close. Nash's theme (assuming it hasn't changed since I last saw him) is so bad you've gotta love it.

Did my hard drive just die????

Apparently, my computer was left running this morning after I left for work. When I got in, the monitor wouldn't light up (it was on and apparently working properly, but it's not detecting my computer) and the computer was running loudly (which really isn't all that unusal to be honest). After not being able to get a response, I powered down and restarted it to see if the problem was fixed...I'm pretty much getting the same thing. TELL ME that my drive didn't just crash on me? I've been working on an important project for the last two days and I absolutely NEED to access the original files ASAP.

Characters that should NEVER be allied.

Sandman and Raven due to the whole thing with Sandman's son back in ECW. Similarly, Tommy Dreamer and the Dudleyz, since the Dudleyz broke Beulah's neck. Rock and Hogan, because Hogan tried to lay the smack down on his crippled ass. Vince McMahon and Stephanie after that feud they in 03. They hit the point of no return when Steph mentioned how Vince basically pimped her out when she was younger.
