    OAO Smackdown Thread For 11/11/05

Is that the Patriot in the Smackdown locker room????

Excerpt from the upcoming HBK book

I just read this stuff and wonder how long before WWE tries to spin this into some kinda TV movie. You know they've thought about it with WWE Films and all...

Excerpt from the upcoming HBK book

    That's a great quote if that's real.
  4. I wonder if Shane participated in the wave during the JBL/Taker match at Summerslam. I dunno if WWE wanted people to shit on the match (I remember one report saying that Vince came out after the match as a way of apologizing or something like that), but I got the sense that they kinda expected it when they had Austin give both guys the Stunner after the match. I know it was hinted at during the build up, but I always wondered whether or not they'd have gone through with it if Goldberg got cheered.
  5. Yeah, I think SK or someone said Shane was sitting in his section chanting "You Sold Out" with the rest of the crowd.
  6. Well I actually like Brock and am indifferent to Goldberg, so bias doesn't enter into it. Yes, fans were giving Brock shit from the start, but the crowd reaction didn't REALLY start to get bad until they were going through the motions with all the lock ups and the like. Plus you can't say that they would've shit on ANYTHING because they actually popped for things like Goldberg's spear. They could've done a lot more to get the crowd into it but they didn't, and the fault for that lies with them.
  7. That's the main problem with the match, and that's a problem you can't blame the fans for. As workers, it's their job to be able to feel the crowd out and adjust accordingly, and they didn't do that. Blame the crowd all you want, but I can almost guarantee that if they had picked up the pace and provided a little more action, the fans wouldn't have shit on it the way that they did.

    Batista/Cena switch

I think the biggest problem with Cena is that instead of going a new direction with him or letting him be himself, they've been re-hashing every tired Attitude-era booking tactic in an effort to make him into the next Rock or Austin. Cena worked better on Smackdown because his gimmick was original and still somewhat fresh, but since he's made the switch everything has seemed so forced with him and I think that's what's turning people off. It doesn't help that they've made him and the title appear to be an afterthought in recent months either. I really don't watch Smackdown enough to make a judgment on Batista, but from what I've seen, I actually prefer him since he's made the switch. Smackdown's always seemed to do a better job in making their top stars look like top stars, and to *me* Batista's been a much more believable champ since coming over. As for whether or not the switch was a good idea...I dunno. I can see why they'd bring Cena over if their intention was to push him as the top star, but obviously things aren't going as planned. Personally, I'd have liked to see him stay on Smackdown, if only to have him work a World Title program with Eddie. Really, these are two of the hottest acts in WWE in the last 2-3 years--why have they not had the chance to work an extended program with each other?

Remember when Kurt liked the you suck chants and saw them as a sign of respect?

    TNA coming to Philly?

I'd go if it all pans out.
  11. I was reading something about Paul Heyman a second ago and they were talking about a falling out he had with Steph earlier this year. What was that all about? Is it the whole thing about him listening in on the Raw creative meetings or something else I'm forgetting?

    Vince isn't happy with Coach

I find it funny that of all the problems Coach has, telling the truth is the one thing that got him in trouble.

Segments that made you go WTF??

How about Bischoff kissing Steph on the Halloween Smackdown back in 02? Or for that matter, Bischoff forcing himself onto Linda prior to SummerSlam 03?

Segments that made you go WTF??

Pretty much anything from the Shane McMahon/Kane feud in 03...having Kane electrocute Shane's nuts stands out most in my mind. The whole Lucy thing leading up to WMX8...although I contend that they could've salvaged that damn angle if they'd allowed Jericho to put the Walls on the injured dog. I'd have paid to see that. Heidenreich raping Cole on Smackdown last year.

50 Cent disses Kanye and New Orleans, praises Bush

I don't even see how you can interpret that as praise to be honest. You can do a job to the best of your ability and still do a bad job.

    Austin Walks Out Again

Yeah, that's the worst part of it IMO. Whether you agree with Austin's decision or not, you've gotta admit that something's wrong when he's just now finding out what the outcome of this program would be.

I fell asleep just prior to the show and woke up right in the middle of all that. Imagine how confused I was...

    Daylight Savings in SC

    I see. Thanks Spiff.

    Daylight Savings in SC

This may sound like a stupid question, but I need to know whether or not daylight savings is observed in South Carolina. I would think the answer is yes, but I'm not 100% sure.

TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

I think Nash's theme is the worst I've ever heard. I seriously busted out laughing during Impact the other night when it hit during the brawl (Jarrett's reaction and Tenay's screaming out "IT'S BIG SEXY!" when it hit was especially funny). It sounds like they ripped that one off of some children's CD--it's horrible.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

Dibiase has a higher overall than Austin? And BRET for that matter. I'm shocked.

    The Rock Comments on HBK

I remember reading something about HBK and HHH working to sabotage Rock early in his career (I vaguely remember a rumor about them lobbying to have him job the I-C belt to Bret or something like that), plus there was that promo back in 02 where HBK took a cheap shot at Rock out of the blue ("...just like the Rock is jealous of Hunter"), so there could be some kinda heat between these two. Anyway, I wouldn't rule out a match between these two. There's a poll on WWE.com asking whether or not people would wanna see HBK vs the Rock, and as you can imagine most people voted yes. This could all be a work to get people interested in a match between the two. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Around the time of HHH's first reign I think HBK was mouthing off about Rock which was one of the reasons behind HBK's "dissaperance" after turning heel and it seemed the original DX had reformed with Shane McMahon in the Rick Rude role That was on a Smackdown I believe, HBK was to be the ref in a Rock-HHH main event and HBK ended up delivering SCM to Rock giving Hunter the win, then he, HHH, Chyna and Shane celebrated HBK would not be seen again, save for some promotional apperances at the WWF NY and such untill joining the nWo in 2002 Steve <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I remember him ripping Austin on Byte This over refusing to job to Hunter, which was cited as one of the reasons he left, but I don't remember anything between he and Rock at that time.

    Smackdown VS Raw 2006

The theme he's using is an obvious nWo rip. Maybe they couldn't obtain the rights to the song for some reason. I remember there being similar problems with people like Booker T and Flair in past games.
