    The Biggest Angle Ever

The backstory is pretty damn creative. I really like the stuff from Flair's arrival to about 99 or so--the whole power struggle thing with Hart and Michaels with Taker caught in the middle is cool, and I think the explanation of Bradshaw's entrance into the group works nicely. My main criticism here is that I think you try to go a little too into detail on the on how the group has operated over the years; it's cool that you made an effort to tie everything up, but some things--stuff like HHH and Taker being stuck facing one another on the undercard of WM17--are unnecessary for you to point out, IMO. Also, I'd like this a little more if the group took a bit more of an aggressive role in their seizing of power. For example, you say they got lucky when Austin got run down at SurSer 99--why not make them responsible for it (which makes sense, since HHH eventually admitted to being behind it anyway)? Also, rather than having them get lucky with Rock and Brock being interested in non-wrestling things (which is a little corny, IMO), why not have them take a more active role in forcing them out? This is good, though. Really entertaining read.

    Feedback for the 5/12 show

More feedback from the retired guy who seems to spend more time posting in this folder now than he did when he was active. Just a few quick comments: Heh. Good action in HIYAH tag title match. Still loving the GPX/Originals stuff. Scotty/CWM was great and I liked the break down at end with Zack, Some Guy and TOE. I commented on the Alf/Benny The Bull stuff before. Nice surprise and a good way to set up the X Title match for next week. Good ME tag match. I liked Crystal going over Axel, although I've gotta agree with whoever said that the visual of Gwen Stefani giving The Undertaker the Axel Slam is kinda funny.

    Feedback for the 5/12 show

Had the chance to read the show again this week, so I figured I might as well throw some feedback down. What about Judy? Remember Judy? Cool segment to start off, as I was also a big Family Matters fan. The opening match was fine enough with Igor going over Crystal. I was hoping to see him get destroyed again, but this was a good enough way to build to the ME. Honestly, I don't care much for the "losers must face each other" stip (seems like something more appropriate for a tag title feud), but Crystal's motivation for signing it made sense, so it's all good. I really liked the stuff with Alfdogg/Benny The Bull this week. Probably my favorite aspect of this week's show, as it really caught me off guard when he unmasked. PRL's promo served its purpose. I think someone said it would've come off better without the recapping, and I agree (the second one particularly seemed unnecessary to me). Aside from that, this was fine. I liked the Sk8ter Boiz/NNMX. The rushed ending wasn't a problem. What really jumped out at me here was the scene description throughout the match. I haven't been reading all that much lately, so I could be off here, but it seemed to me that in this match, Tony was concentrating more on capturing the little details (like Singleton holding his elbow after missing an elbow drop or one of the wrestlers holding their head after taking a move), which is always a plus. Okatu II seems like he could be an interesting character, though I do agree with FM that the introduction was a little bland. Faqu--I'm JUST now getting that. That's cute. Anyway, I liked the whole thing with the BBB, Conquistadors, Faqu and Blonde and Charles Robinson. Tired now. I'll edit in the rest of my feedback tomorrow.

    Stuff I wrote

I apologize in advance for posting this here. I just felt it'd be more appropriate here than anywhere else, since y'all are actually familiar with my stuff. Anyway, back in late 03, I got bored and wrote up a couple of PPVs for my EWR fed (which is real world wrestlers mixed in with some characters from my old NFWA e-fed), and for a while now I've been debating with myself over whether or not I should post them anywhere, since I haven't and never really intended to show them to anybody. But after thinking about it, I figured that I might as well just post them here and see what you guys think. The addresses to both are below: Xhttp://www.angelfire.com/pa3/nfwarchives/hellonearthuwa.html--Hell on Earth '04 Xhttp://www.angelfire.com/pa3/nfwarchives/tauwa.html--Total Annihilation '05 Now both these are full shows, so I don't expect anyone to read and comment on every single match. My main reason for posting this is because I want to see what people think of the Mass D/T Money & Corino tag match from Total Annihilation (any feedback on that one would be especially appreciated). Again, I apologize if anyone has a problem with me posting my shit in here.

Anyone happen to have Michaels/Sid or Bret/Austin from Survivor Series 96?

Former WWE Writer Chris Kreski Passes Away

Really, though, how much of that do you think had to do with the debut of Smackdown exposing the WWF to newer viewers? I mean a lot of the newer fans I knew that began watching around that period that time did so mainly because Smackdown made it available to them. And that's without considering all of the other mainstream ventures WWF had going on at the time. Not to take anything away from them, because shows would have to be entertaining to hook those viewers like they did, but I don't think you can just look at numbers as evidence of 2000's superiority because they had a lot more exposure than WWF did in 98.

Former WWE Writer Chris Kreski Passes Away

I've never really cared all that much for 2000 from a creative standpoint, but you really can't knock him for the love triangle without taking into consideration the political plays going on around that time.

Wrestlers Who Should Have Held A Belt In a Company

Tazz should've been given the I-C Belt sometime around SummerSlam 2000 or Unforgiven.

    Feedback for the 5/5 HeldDOWN

Um... *ACTUAL FEEDBACK~!!!!!!!* Just got a chance to read through the show...first HeldDOWN I've had the chance to read in a while, and it was good. I don't have a whole lot to say about a lot of the segments, but there was nothing bad on the show, and everyone seemed to further their angles nicely. I must say that I'm seriously feeling the whole Originals/GPX angle. The promo to set up the tag match was great, and a nice lead-in to the GPX turn at the end. Really good stuff. What also stood out were the segment between Josie and Jay Richards (funny stuff), Hoff's Panel (I marked for Igor. Seriously), and the Frankensteiners/HR backstage stuff.

    Greatest overall booking time periods

Possibly a bit colored since this was the height of my mark days, but I've got a lot of love for WWF from about SummerSlam 95 to about Over the Edge 99, namely for the period from Austin's face turn on.

    Brand Split

You point to a major problem with WWE booking over the past couple of years (pushing guys who aren't ready), but I don't think that's something that you can blame on the split. The main problem I've had with the pushes of Orton, JBL and Brock to a lesser extent is that there was no need to force those guys into those spots when they did. They had more experienced guys like Angle, like Jericho, Booker, RVD and Kane who had already established a connection with the fans and could've easily stepped into top spots to round out the upper card why the new guys could develop in the undercard. But rather than give these guys a chance, for God knows what reason, they completely overlooked them in favor of pushing these guys with little-to-no credibility with the fans. I mean, yes the split opens up a lot of card space (something they needed badly back in 01/02) that's gonna have to be filled by younger guys, but I maintain that with the exception of Cena, there was never any urgency to move any of these guys into top spots at the time they did.

    House show idea

I was watching the NBA playoffs yesterday, and don't you know how during halftime they'll show highlights and stuff from other games going around the league, show you the various scores, stats or what have you. Well I saw this and began to wonder why WWE doesn't do similar things for house shows. I remember a while back, there was a lot of talk about doing things generate house show interest, and this resulted in them running a few angles like the Booker/Christian I-C Title change back in 03. I think something like this could accomplish that. I was thinking like every week, they could take like maybe 5 minutes to do some kinda Live event update (sort of like the old Slam Jams and Control Centers from back in the day) where they'd show highlights from select matches, significant storyline developments that occurred on the house show (which I think would be cool because by handling some storyline developments on house shows some weeks, you open up the door for some of the lower card guys to move up from time to time and get some things going on the main shows from time to time), and even hype future house show matches to try get people interested in coming out. Ideally, these segments would also display things like win-loss records and title rankings, but I know WWE's never been too big on things like this, so...you know. Anyway, what do you think? Could this work or not?

Wrestlers who were the biggest marks...

Did Chyna ever outright refuse to job to Lita? I know she had a problem with being put into the Women's division (and rightfully so, IMO), but I've never heard anything concrete about her refusing to drop the belt (just minor speculation). As far as her being a mark for herself...I agree to some extent, but I think it'd be more accurate to say that she's a mark for her fame than she is for herself or the Chyna character. Even back in the days when I was a blind mark for her, she always came across to me as the type of person who was in love with the idea of being famous period, and I think it's only to the extent that the character brought her that fame that she's really bought into her hype. Other than that, I don't think so. You really can't say she buys into the image of herself as this woman who can beat up men because since she's left the company, she's really only played it up to the point that it gets her recognition.

    Strange Wrestling Exits

Maybe so, but that doesn't mean it's stupid. For one, Capital Carnage didn't have any bearing on the major storylines of the time period, and two, the explanation actually makes sense. I don't see a problem with that one at all personally, but to each his own, I guess.

Wrestling Moves you busted out In Real Fights

I remember getting in a fight back when I was like nine or ten and dropping this dude with back-to-back clotheslines. I can also remember being in a fight probably a year or so later where if you went back and watched it you'd have sworn you were watching a wrestling match. Seriously, we were using headlocks and stuff on each other and at one point he actually had me in a full nelson for a bit before I got this big adrenaline rush, broke free and mounted this big comeback in the end. Also, not a fight, but I did chokeslam my friend's little brother once for hitting me in the nuts.

    Things that seemingly everyone hated

I gotta co-sign on Al Wilson. Sure, the storyline sucked, but Al's promo delivery was fucking hilarious. I used to love how he'd take the mic and stand there as if he were preparing to deliver some dynamic speech...then suddenly start talking in that monotone voice of his. Cracked me up damn near everytime. Others... Chyna's first I-C reign, obviously. Dean Douglas (how anyone can say this was a bad gimmick is beyond me) I was also a fan of Justin Credible's ECW Title reign And for a real odd one, the Taker/Kane vs Rikishi/Haku feud from 2001. I have NO CLUE why but for some reason at the time I was really into that one and was actually kinda pissed when it got called off without any real payoff.
  21. Caboose--I can feel where you're coming from on the character thing, but did you really need to start a thread drawing attention to how PR messed up your character? I mean, that's the kind of thing that could've been handled in PMs or even the feedback thread if you wanted to make it public. I think there's some validity to the complaints and criticisms of PR, but I think the extent to which some of you (Failed Mascot specifically) take it is unnecessary. I mean, if you don't like his writing or if you have a problem with something he's doing that's one thing, but all of that "Puerto Rican Boring" stuff FM's been coming with lately isn't cool. If you don't like his shit, say you don't like it and let it be. At the end of the day, everybody here's trying to have a good time and IMO, there's no reason to take it there.

You know that you can convert PSD files to JPEG, GIF, etc, right? Just go to the File menu in Photoshop and click "Save for Web" and it'll allow you to save your file in a format suitable for posting on the net.

Some interesting Survivor Series 1997 stuff

The fight happened June 9th if I'm not mistaken--the day after KOTR. He wasn't too far off on that one.
