Book's music isn't licensed though. I think Turner owns it. -

Um...no Eddie????! -
Nah. They were scheduled to fight at WM8, but the match was changed when Hogan announced his retirement.

I honsestly can't recall any Bret Hart/HHH matches at all, let alone when Bret was on top of the company. Anyone want to refresh my mind on this? I remember them fighting at least twice in 97, the first was during the European title tourney (same Raw as Owen/Bulldog)...I don't remember the exact result, but Chyna came from the crowd to confront Bret as he was beating on HHH post-match, and they made a big deal about that. The second match was the night after Badd Blood. HHH won via count out when Chyna prevented Bret's ringpost figure four attempt, distracting him long enough for Shawn to come up and KO him with Sweet Chin Music (btw, I marked like hell for that finish).

On the topic of how HHH will be remembered...I agree that the company will sell him as one of the greatest champions ever, but I'm not sure that marks--at least those who've watched during the time period--will ever really buy it, primarily for the reason that most of you have touched on, he doesn't make his opponents look good. Thus far, he's had one good/great title reign with competition from the likes of Rock, Taker and Foley, and since that time, he's basically been going over a bunch of scrubs (at least that's how they're presented) with little to no effort at all. Wrestling is just like other sports in that a champion's quality is determined by the quality of competition he has around him, and if all of HHH's competition is weak, what's making his title reigns so special? It's not like he's having mind-blowing matches month after month, and other than his feud with Michaels (which pretty much lost all significance after SummerSlam 02), he hasn't had any significant or career defining feuds because of their insistance on always putting him over. I think he will be remembered somewhat favorably because of DX and his run in 2000-01, but unless something drastic happens in the future, I don't expect him to even come close to guys like Austin, Rock, Flair or even Bret.

They said last night that voting starts at 10 pm eastern next Monday.

Unforgiven 2000. And I LOATHED that finish. The only logical ending for that tremendous storyline was for Kurt to steal Stephanie, which would have turned 3H uber face. Sadly, ego got in the way of business. Wasn't the 4-way title match the last match on the show? And having Jericho steal Steph would've been the better way to go IMO. Having her leave with Kurt would've been way too predictable, and they had already set up Jericho/Steph with the kiss at KOTR.

Really? Whenever I've tried it I always get one of those "I think it's too soon" e-mails, so I never bothered with it.
-
Question: Is it possible at all to have a successful turn if it's less than a year after the previous turn? Like, I know the game discourages you from doing it, but has anyone ever tried it and had it go well?

I clicked long term, but I'm kinda in the middle, I guess. Like with Panther/Bryte/Tina, I had pretty much everything from Living Anglelously to the post LTP HD planned out for months, but with everything else, a lot of what I did (especially toward the beginning) was on the spot. Generally though, I do tend to have a lot planned out a head of time, because once I get an idea in my head, my mind just starts running.

Whatever. At least we know it wasn't Snitsky's fault.
-
And that's what they get for putting that damn Jericho in the main event. When will they learn?!
-
But no one (or at least very few) people who saw the promo is gonna expect a Rock/HHH program anytime soon. They know Rock's situation, and the jab itself was so small. I could see your point if he dedicated a whole section of his promo to how overrated Rock is, but as is it came off as an off-hand remark and nothing more. Now if he starts making comments about Rock week after week without any intention of an eventual program, then you'd be right, but until then, there's no harm done.
-
Not necessarily, because they really had to come up with a lot of their dialogue on the spot. With scripted stuff, you have a chance to refine your stuff before you get out there, even though they don't always do a good job (like the Benoit line you pointed out).
-
Well, back in 99 promos weren't scripted as heavily as they are now, so comparing HHH's to Orton's and Benoit's today may not be the fairest comparison. I don't think they were trying to hint at a match. It was most likely a jab at Rock and nothing more. I don't see the problem with it, because even if it is a personal thing between those two, it's at least consistent with storylines, since HHH was probably Rock's biggest rival back in the day. No need to over-analyze this and make it a bigger deal than it really is.

I find it funny that after encouraging people to come out and say stuff like "cum-guzzling gutter slut" on shows, they can come down on Flair for this.

Wow, I'm surprised they didn't go for a fetus on a pole match. -

How the hell can she blame Snitsky?! -
That's definitely a fake. I've seen the real picture before and she was never that big.

Ah...please don't remind me of that dumb ass Jericho/Chyna union from 2000. I'm getting violently angry just thinking about it. Favorite nonsensical turn would probably be Christian on DDP after DDP had helped him end his losing streak. Christian wins his first match, starts celebrating, then out of the blue gives DDP the Unprettier for no reason at all. That has to be up there for one of the funniest turns ever. Another one I found funny was Paul Ellering on LOD in 98, with Ellering turning on them as soon as they introduced him as their new manager.

But what happened to Austin going into the show that would make him think he couldn't beat the Rock? He won the Rumble, he had beaten Rock everytime they fought. Perhaps they could've followed the HHH loss by having Austin start wondering if he still had it, but they didn't, and as a result, Austin came into the show looking just as strong as the Rock, and given the nature of Austin's character, it takes a pretty big leap in logic to explain why Austin would run to McMahon prior to the show. They should've just gone with the chairshot finish and left it at that. It fits with the storyline they had going in, plus it wouldn't have been as blatant a heel move, so it wouldn't look as bad with the crowd cheering him afterward.
-
But outside of the loss to HHH at No Way Out (which was downplayed a lot following the PPV), Austin didn't really show too much weakness or vulnerability going into WMX7. Add in his history with the Rock, and it really doesn't make all that much sense for him to go to Vince for help. It was a great match, yes, and I liked the chair finish too. I just think it would've been more effective (and believable) without the McMahon run-in. If they felt the need to align those two, they should've saved it for the Austin/Rock rematch.
