More stuff from Bryte.
-
That's cool. I'm glad somebody enjoyed my weird ass attempt at humor.
-
I've heard that the original plan was to turn Shawn heel and have Bret beat him at Mania, but they backed off because of the Rumble being in San Antonio...or something silly like that. I know I've heard that Bret and Cornette had planned Bret's turn before the end of 96. Whether or not it was before or after the show, I'm not sure.
-
Yeah, the promos were all clicking this week. I was seriously feeling all of them, from Zack/Calvin on down. I *really* enjoyed the opening segment and the Black T segment. Great stuff there. Drek's and Hoff's stuff was great too. All the little superhero references had me laughing. I also got a big laugh out of the references to Bryte's fake ass. I'm gonna have to play that up a little more in the future.
-
I honestly can't remember. I'm just responding because I used to love the name "Maivia Hurricane". They should've used that in real life. As for the last time Rock came off the top...not sure about the Iron man, but I'm sure he came off the top during a Raw Cage match with HHH in 99. He hit him with a double axehandle.
-
I seem to remember him wrestling at least one jobber match (and definitely an interview or two) following WM with them hyping his feud with Warrior. Soon after that though, he disappeared, and the focus switched to Papa Shango.
-
Yeah, he injured his leg before Survivor Series 03 due to a Shane McMahon Van Terminator. I thought he had come back from that injury though. Wasn't he feuding with Stevie and Victoria for a while?
-
Have they released the house show match?
-
Edit: Bah! Someone delete this post please.

I'm close to giving up on WWE forever...
Papacita replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
Keith's been pretty positive about the product lately...well, for Raw anyway. As far as them intentionally trying to kill Benoit's credibility, let's not forget that this was ONE MATCH! In the past few months, he's won the Rumble and made both HHH and HBK tap cleanly. He's been built up strongly and this one little match won't kill him. Wait to see how they follow up on the match before you complain about it. -
Benoit and Tyson Tomko. Why WWE would choose to copyright such common names though. I mean, "For Real"?
-
I know you'd know better than me, Cawthon, but I always thought that show was in Seattle. This was the same show that had HBK/Ahmed vs. the Gunns, right? As far as the post match stuff goes, that is pretty bad. It reminds me of a Thunder I went to in 98. All night long they had been hyping a match between Lex Luger and the Giant that would happen after the show went off the air. When it finally took place, Luger squashed him in a match that couldn't have been longer than a minute and a half. It was one of the things that turned me off to WCW...not to mention the fact that I fell asleep at the damn show.

Smackdown had some good stuff going on around that time (and more than its share of bad stuff as well), but it was such a small part of what was a horrible year overall. I say 03 is better because one, there were great matches up and down the year (and they didn't just involve the same six people), storylines on both brands were better (though that's not saying much when you think back to some of the angles in 02), plus there was much more stability in 03. While HHH's long reign wasn't really a good thing, at least you knew throughout the year that he was the focus of Raw. Same with Brock and Kurt on Smackdown. In 02, they went from Flair/McMahon to the nWo to Hogan/Rock vs the nWo to Austin vs Flair and so on. Same thing on Smackdown. Comparing both years, overall, I really can't see how anybody can say that 02 was better.
-
Yeah, it was his last televised match until his return in 96. At the end of the show, Bobby Heenan suddenly blurted out "The Ultimate Warrior won't be appearing at Survivor Series" or something like that. Nobody really took it seriously, but that Monday on Prime Time, it was confirmed. That was the night that Savage chose Perfect to be his tag partner. I believe SNME was also Bulldog's last televised match for WWE (til 94) right? He was supposed to fight the Mountie at SS, but it never went down.
-
Nah, that never happened. The only other thing I can think of that even remotely resembles that scene was a Raw in 97 where Sid came out with a group of guys to confront the Hart Foundation. Also, Smackdown wasn't on the air when the Union was out. They were around from roughly April to June and Smackdown debuted in August.
-
Bryte has some splainin' to do.
-
Why does everybody online have to be a 12-year old with glasses now? Whatever happened to the good old days, when the net was inhabited by middle-aged, balding pedophiles and sexual predators? Anyway, I'm cool with a lot of people on the board, but honestly, I don't like anybody enough that I'd go out of my way to hang with them. I'm pretty anti-social though, so...
-
I remember he did that sell for Chyna once in 2000. It was pretty funny. Jannetty overselling the Superkick at Rumble 93 was funny as well. The best oversellers were easily between Hennig, Shawn and Ric though.

Media post: The Final Saturday Night's Main Event
Papacita replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in General Wrestling
Deon....I've been trying to get a copy of this show for the longest time! MUCH thanks for posting this. -
Wrestlers where their debut televised matches were
Papacita replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in General Wrestling
Actually, it was aired on an episode Friday Night's Main Event. And didn't Brock fight one of the Hardys on the Raw before Backlash? Or was that match a no contest or something? -

Not sure about Nailz, but neither Giant or Yetti wrestled those nights (did Yetti ever wrestle?). Plus, Yetti debuted on a Nitro and Giant had shown up on Saturday Night and other shows a few times before. Actually, I think Giant made his wrestling debut at Halloween Havoc that year. -

If you ignore his 93/94 run, Scott Steiner in WWE. Wasn't Survivor Series 97 vs Mankind Kane's first match (as Kane anyway). -

I've run Norton, Spybot, Adaware, CWShredder and HijackThis on this thing since my original post. I got a lot of things and it's not as bad as it was on Friday, but my IE is still pretty messed up. First off, whenever I'm offline, I'll hear a click or something and AOL will start up (I'm assuming something's trying to connect to the net here). And when I'm online and using IE, I'll hear repeated clicking and the browser will start acting all weird...like, whenever I try to type a period, it'll come up a >, the text size will automatically switch to largest, at times, it'll go back a page randomly...just a second ago when I tried to access this thread, it started opening a new window for every link I clicked. "Adserve" windows will try to pop up every now and then, and while I think I've already got whatever caused this, Friday night, I got message saying that my clock was synchronized with some kinda company's clocks, and a folder called "ClockSync" appeared on my start menu (whatever program was inside was deleted by Norton though). Here's my updated HijackThis log...
