"Too Legit to Quit"... HAMMER~!
-
I'd say he's gonna be a LONG way from next to last match on the card. I see. I was looking at it in terms of his standing on the roster or whatever. Even then, I'm not sure. I can see the tag match taking place sometime between the two title matches, but I dunno. I sort of do mean standing on the card, but that usually goes hand in hand with card position. Rock went from Raw ME with Steve Austin to a handicap match with two retired (More or less) wrestlers and two kind of unover midcarders. Realistically, it happens just after the US Title match, as Angle/Eddie, HHH/HBK/That Guy, Kane/Taker, and Goldberg/Brock will be higher on the card. With the build they got, Jericho/Xian might as well. I dunno if it's because I didn't like the build or what, but I always saw looked at Rock/Austin as a special attraction rather than a Main Event in itself. Both were off TV for months, the build to the match was weak IMO, and their name value was the only real selling point for the match. It had no real meaning and came across as filler to me. While this year's match has no real meaning to anyone other than Foley and Orton, it's still being heavily hyped, and next to the World Title match (and mayble Jericho/Xian), it's received the most build on the Raw side. And again, the fact that it's Foley's return to the ring adds a lot to the matches meaning. In terms of match placement, it'd probably go on early, but in terms of standing, I wouldn't say it was a step down...at least not much of a step down.

I wouldn't exactly say Rock's stepping down in the card. Regardless of who they're facing, the fact that this is a return match for both he and Foley makes the match a special attraction on the show. It's more of a step up for Evolution than a step down for the Rock.

I don't hate XV, since the HHH turn was one of my all-time favorites, and I always get a kick out of seeing Bart Gunn get KO'd, but most of the other stuff is shit. Having Road Dogg and Billy switch places in their respective feuds was the stupidest booking move I've ever seen, the Big Show turn never really made sense to me (could've easily been top heel), that HORRIBLE HIAC match, and while I liked Rock/Austin it doesn't really hold up. I'll give X-8 a mention, too. I always thought Rock/Hogan was overrated, I can't comment on Austin/Hall because I *LITERALLY* fall asleep EVERYTIME I WATCH IT, Jericho/Hunter wasn't bad, but the poor booking and the dead crowd ruins it for me. The Hardcore stuff wasn't entertaining...well, other than Christian's beating Molly for the belt. That makes me laugh everytime...and people fighting over shampoo. I really hate that show.

Probably when he and Spike lost the Tag belts to Billy and Chuck...at least I think they lost them to Billy and Chuck. I can barely remember.

Nah. She just showed up in his corner one night in October 98. Jeff had been around for almost a year by then.

I dunno. That happens to me sometimes when I get up too fast after a long nap or whatever.

Um...but those AREN'T two things, caboose! That's one thing listed twice! That post is misleading and it insults my intelligence. Caboose, I'm shocked and personally offended by your reckless posting behavior.

The Rock was the first person in WWF that I really remember using the move as a transition on a regular basis, and that was circa 96/97. I then remember it spreading to HHH and some others around 98 or so. The first time i saw it used as a transition move was at Survivor Series 93 in the SMW Tag match. Yeah, but I'm not sure how regularly they used the move. Rock would be busting out one or two DDTs a match on occasion.

November 24, 2003. Goldberg defended the title against HHH. Wow, way to make the title look good there. Hasn't been defended on free TV for 2+ months You weren't around in the mid-80s, were you? Back then, the only you got a World Title Match on free TV was Saturday Night's Main Event and possibly if a local cable channel had the rights to broadcast the local house shows. Yeah. Plus as long as the belt is the main focus for guys that are on TV every week, you really don't have to worry about its image being hurt any. I'd say they'd be better off limiting title matches to PPVs, as it makes the World Title seem a lot more important.

You know, while we're on that, maybe somebody can explain to me why there are so many damn labels around now, most of which are an extension of a larger label. I mean, it's getting to the point where everybody and their mom is gonna has a label.
