I recall seeing a Vader/Shamrock ppv match in the spring of 96 (I'm not sure about this) and Vader was extremely stiff. Shamrock finally retaliated and stiffed Vader pretty hard and I think busted his nose. That was Shamrock's debut match at...Cold Day in Hell in May 97. After I posted that last night, I looked up Teke's review of Shamrock's shoot interview for more info. Apparently, it was in a match between the two in FMW where Vader powerbombed him a few times and made him cough up blood, and Shamrock had to take some time off as a result. I *think* this coincides with the match with Faarooq that I mentioned earlier (Faarooq gave him a spinebuster or something, and blood began coming out of his mouth afterwards), but I'm not sure.

Well if that isn't nerve Well, by most accounts, Cena does write his own stuff.

Like I said before, I seriously doubt he's gonna rhyme like that on track. Most likely, the pauses in his rhymes on TV are done so that the fans can digest his rhymes more easily...his promos come off better that way than they would if he came out flowing normally. Again, if you take a look at the Halloween episode when he spit his first on-screen rhyme or listen to his theme song, you'll see that his flow isn't bad. In the end, I think it'll be more an issue of content than anything else.

I dunno what saddens me more, the fact that Hawk's dead or that I'm not shocked about it. It's a shame though. The Road Warriors (along with Ric Flair) were really the first wrestlers I ever knew. My brother was a big fan of theirs, and when I was like 3 or 4, he had all of their posters on the wall and what not, and even though I didn't really watch wrestling regularly until I was 7 or 8, I became a fan of theirs through him, and remained a big fan up until 98, where Russo basically buried them in their feud with the Outlaws. I heard he'd gotten religious lately, so I sincerely hope this isn't another drug-related death. Either way, RIP Hawk.

When did this happen? I remember during Shamrock's WWF PPV debut match against Vader Shamrock didn't know how to pull his punches and gave Vader a busted nose. I'm not sure, but I think they fought in a non-televised match sometime in the fall of 97 (around the time of the I-C Title tournament probably), and Vader injured him somehow. On TV, I think it was explained by having him receive "internal injuries" during a match with Faarooq.

BUMP BUMP BUMP!

I just typed in HBK on search and the Rumble 93 match is up there. Try typing in Royal Rumble 93 and see what happens.
-
I just downloaded the Rumble match about a month or so ago. Either one would be good, but I prefer the May 93 one just for the markout value. Edit: What the hell happened there?!

Is Chavo rocking a Tough Enough jacket?

Marty's oversell of the superkick always makes me laugh there. I still want the Raw match, damn it!
-
Damn it, I want Spanky hanged!

The Trish segment was cool. And they're showing the Michaels/Jannetty Rumble match?! Why not the Raw match, damn it?!?!? I wanna see that one so bad!

That was a pretty bad show. I liked the Razor/Douglas match though...and for some reason, I went crazy for the Yoko/Mabel match back in the day. Funny... I was just watching this last night...you'd think I'd like this one because of Chyna's win, but outside of the ladder match (which really doesn't hold up for me after TLC and all that), this PPV was bad. I especially hated the main event...I think this was the match where the stupid "drag and brawl" main event style was really starting to work my nerves. Austin and HHH spend half the match walking around the arena slamming each other into stuff, and they have the most contrived ref bump in history when Austin slingshots HHH into Mike Chioda...his dumb ass sits there for like half a minute watching them set up the spot and didn't move...even Lawler said something like "Ref, you might wanna move". Um...Hurricane and Lance Storm were WCW Tag Champs?!?!?!

Anyone know the story behind this? What did Hogan say on Arsenio? 1. Rock and Taker???? Aside from JR busting out "What a no good, lousy son of a bitch" when HHH ran in, what was so special about this match? 2. As much as I marked out for Taker/Hart in 97, watching it again on tape, that match is kinda boring. I'm sure there were better matches out there to choose from. 3. I *HATE* the Austin/Taker series with a passion. I've said before that the SummerSlam match was a big let down, and while the Fully Loaded match had some nice psychology, it still seemed to me like they were just going through the motions in that one. 4. The HIAC is very overrated, but we've all heard that before. I liked everything else he listed...though Taker/Flair was kinda iffy.

The One and Only Calvin Szechstein Thread!

Yeah, newbies suck! *suddenly remembers he's a newbie* Uh oh... -
I don't agree with Michaels' supposed tantrum to get the finish overturned, but I think it would have been better for Shawn to win that match anyway. They had been building Vader as this unbeatable monster going into the PPV, and already pinned Shawn a month prior. Fans pretty much got the sense going in that he had Shawn's number, and it would've been a little anti-climatic if he beat him first time out...to me anyway. I'm sure someone else will disagree. As for his aborted push...he was supposed to get the title at Survivor Series from what I understand. I remember he got at least one more pinfall win over Michaels on a Raw a few weeks after Mind Games, then went on to face Sid for the #1 contendership spot at Buried Alive. I heard somewhere that he was supposed to win that match, but was injured sometime before. Apparently, he thought he could work through it, but Vince didn't wanna jeopardize the Survivor Series main event, and decided to go with Sid instead.

I was at that show too. The Tazz/HHH thing was a big mark out moment for me...then fucking Tommy Dreamer ruined everything and cost Tazz the match. I officially hate you. [/envy]

You know, while we're at it, the lowercase p in my name has been bugging me for months. Can I get that fixed?

The One and Only Calvin Szechstein Thread!

:presents psuedo-Zack an award for "Best Performance by a stunt double in a battle royal style thread"...then beats him with it: Violence is fun. -
I wasn't there, but my brother swears he saw a guy go for a People's Elbow during a fight. He gets the upper hand on the other guy, knocks him down, then turns to the crowd and does Rock's whole arm waving thing (you know...the thing he does before he goes for the elbow), but when he turned around, the guy he was fighting got up and beat the hell outta him.
-
I'm free for a match if anyone's interested.
-
I don't think he's gonna rap like he does at WWE events. I think he rhymes that way in order to make sure that the crowd can easily follow him--his promos come across much better than they would if he came out straight flowing. Remember, when he was rhyming on the Halloween special last year, his flow was pretty tight. Only thing I'm really worried about with him is his rhyme content? What's he gonna rhyme about to make true hip hop fans accept this as a legit album?

??? I turned it off after the Benoit match. Tell me that didn't really happen.

This is the dumbest shit I have EVER seen on a wrestling show.

What the fuck?
