    WRESTLEMANIA

Both Warrior's returns at 8 and 12 had me going. Bret v. Piper from 8: "Piper, remember that old saying: 'What the hell, use the bell!'" Flair's and Perfect's post match beatdown on Savage after he won the belt (As you can tell, I love me some WM8). The double clothesline spot from Hogan/Warrior. I had never seen that before this match and I've had a soft spot for it ever since. Pete Rose returning at XV, and also HHH's turn on X-Pac if that counts. Christian beating Mighty Molly for the Hardcore Belt at X8. Kane's city of fire at WMXX. Also Trish aligning with Christian.

Worst Excuse for a Face Turn

I didn't mind this. They didn't really change their heelish behavior (which made them popular in the first place), and Trish and T&A had been fucking with him before they finally got her. Rikishi's face turn in 01 was about the worst I can remember. Rather than come up with a legit reason for him to turn, they bring him out basically admitted they fucked up and tried to beg people to cheer him again. As bad as the heel turn, I think that actually hurt him worse. That and the Kane stuff...

    Best Royal Rumble Match

The mark in me says 96. It was predictable as hell, but it had one of my all-time favorite moments with Shawn dumping both Yoko and Vader and Vader snapping on everyone. Aside from that, 92 was the best and probably the most unpredictable. I'd have liked to give it to 04, but I could see Benoit winning from a mile away. I don't think anybody saw Flair taking it.

    The Youtube Thread

Sid Justice vs. El Diablo. This was a little bit after I first started watching wrestling. Taker and Jake Roberts were a bad ass team back in the day.

    Moments that irritated you

Yeah, the magazines and video games definitely billed Yoko as being from Polynesia back in the day, but they didn't play it up on TV to any degree I can recall.

Agreed. Orton was really getting over in 04, but I really don't feel that he truly started coming into his own as I-C Champion until his defense against Benjamin that summer...then they turn right around and job him out in his next major defense. He could've rode that I-C Title reign for at least one or two months longer, but instead they just end it on a throwaway match at some random PPV. Almost forgot about WWE forcing Sabu to speak in ECW. Also the whole "Extremist" thing. I've never had a problem with the word "Superstars," "Divas," while slightly annoying, does work well enough for the women, but my god! Is it really THAT BAD to just call someone a wrestler? And if so, they couldn't come up with anything better? Personal bias here, but I also how Mr. Perfect was treated like a jobber during his last stint in 02. I know he wasn't what he used to be, but it killed me to see him jobbing to RVD and others in under 5 mins.

Pretty much the entire Tazz/Lawler feud from 00. What specifically annoyed the hell outta me was the fact that everytime Tazz would get the better of Lawler, he'd just shrug it off and return for commentary later in the night, making Tazz look weak as hell. Jericho meets Lucy the Dog. Don't think I need to explain that one. D'Lo Brown's "Because I'm Black" angle from 03, especially in the beginning prior to Teddy Long coming on board. The HHH/Steph/Angle botch from 2000.

So, you want to share files with your friends?

I've been out of the downloading scene for the last couple of years. What would you all recommend for getting movies/etc?

    The Simpsons Question

Paraphrased: Skinner: I know you can hear my thoughts, Bart. Sooner or later you'll slip up, and when you do...your ass is mine. That's right...I think words that I would never say"! Homer: "I know you can hear MY thoughts too, boy...MEOW MEOW MEOW MEOW..." That had me in tears the first time I saw it.

WWE General Discussion - January 2008

I think I've outgrown my Chyna mark phase, but I can answer this. Basically, they met while she was trying to break into the WWF, and he and Shawn did help her get the job ("If you want me to drop the belt, she's with us"). According to her, they didn't get together until sometime after she got hired. YOUR MOTHER!! ... ...I almost outgrew it.

Re-Reading old posts you've made on this here forum.

When looking at my old posts, I avoid pretty much anything I've ever posted in LSD. Only stuff I really find embarrassing. Everything else I'm fine with.
  12. You and your silly predictions! I predicted back in 1994 that Bret and Owen would reunite after Wrestlemania, and guess what?! IT HAPPENED!!!!!! Took a couple of years, but still...I CALLED IT!!!!
  13. I've never made a bad prediction. I'm always right. Bull Bucanan WILL be HUGE one of these days! HUGE!

    JoeDirt's old school match thread

Nothing earth shattering. Interesting listen though.
  15. FUCK YEAH! I didn't see that coming at all and marked my ass off for it. Shame it didn't go anywhere because that was truly some classic shit. How about DDP's WWF debut? The follow up sucked and it was kinda bad considering how obvious it was (to me at least) that Vince was doing the voiceovers for the Sara segment, but that one really caught me off guard. Surprised no one's mentioned Austin attacking Bret Hart in the ambulance back in 97. That was CRAZY!

    Worst promos ever

Owen Hart tended to repeat himself a lot in his promos, so much so that it became an inside joke with me and my friends. Probably the best example I can think of is the night after SummerSlam 97 when he must have told Austin about 38 times that "I left you a crippled freak, and you'll never wrestle again." Somewhat understandable now after realizing the severity of the situation, but that one in particular always got a laugh out of me.

    OAO 11/19 Raw Thread

I actually tuned in for the very end to see if anything happened with Jericho and caught his return. I actually thought the little bit with him and the runner worked really well there; I could see why people would dislike the early reveal, but considering it wasn't really a mystery and I think everybody was expecting him anyway, it came off as much more of a surprise than if they would've just gone into the whole light show/countdown thing which people probably would've expected anyway. I can't say I was blown away by the promo (but I've never liked Chris as a face) but it was really good to see him back...one of the few feel-good moments I can remember them having in a while. I actually marked for the the "NEVER EEEEEEEEEVER" thing too.

    Good matches with bad finishes

I don't think they planned on having Angle win until after the 9/11 attacks, but even so I agree with you; it was perfectly fine storytelling and a good finish at that. Not necessarily a bad finish, but I've gotta mention Jericho/HBK from WM19. I've always been a mark for Shawn, but having him survive the Walls of Jericho that last time AND go on to win took a lot of shine off of the match overall. He really should've tapped there.

Strangest place you've met a wrestler

Didn't meet the WRESTLER, but I remember being at a Blockbuster store when I was little and I was looking at Wrestlemania 2 trying to decide whether to get it. All of a sudden, two old ladies walk up to me and scream "OH LOOK! IT'S GEORGE!!" referring to King Kong Bundy, then go into a brief story of how they were old friends/neighbors or whatever. I don't think I've seen match one of Bundy in his prime, though, so the whole conversation just came off random as hell.

    Best sell jobs in wrestling?

"MY EYE!!! DAMN IT, MICK!!! MY EYE!!!" Terry Funk at ONS 2. Truth be told, I wasn't into the match at that point, but he was so convincing that when they took him out I was actually questioning whether or not it was for real. Probably not the type of sell job you're referring to, but there was a match between Angle and Eddie just after WM in 2005 where, near the end of the match, Rey came out and prevented Angle from using a chair. Then, in one of those "face misunderstanding" moments, Eddie turns around and spots Rey holding the chair and completely goes into bitch mode--begging, pleading with Rey not to hit him. It's funny as hell and cool that Eddie went to such lengths to put Rey over as a threat to him, especially considering that he was still a face at the time. Also, put me down for Rock's and Shane's Stunner sells, and--even with as much hate as it gets--HBK's big boot sell at Summerslam 05.

Most Important/Influential Matches of All Time

I agree with cb that Raw already kinda had that feel, but this was the night that really cemented it. However, you can't throw Shawn/Marty in there without mentioning the Kid going over Razor. The former was the better match, but I think Kid's upset had more impact in the long run.

    save_us_222

While I agree that Jericho is too damaged to reach the levels he could have (I honestly believe he could've reached Rock/Austin status if handled the right way), I think people have always overstated the level to which he's actually been damaged. Even as late as 2004 following the Trish storyline he was over enough for a believable World Title run, not to mention the fact that most of the Cena hate didn't start until he ended up matched up with Jericho.

    "Oops, I Forgot"

I only vaguely remember the match, but yeah I remember Sting making Austin submit around 94 or so on some random Saturday Night episode. I can't remember a thing about it otherwise, but I used to toss it back in my friends' faces whenever they'd mention how he'd never given up. Even though I'm a Shawn mark, I had to laugh once they started applying all that "HE'S NEVER GIVEN UP" talk to him during his face run in 95/96 considering all the time's he'd gotten himself DQ'd or flat out RUN AWAY from matches to keep his belt.

    "Oops, I Forgot"

At the ECW episode from Philly last year, Devito (one of Da Baldies from the original ECW) hopped out of the crowd dressed like a priest and Styles and Tazz acted like they had never seen him before. This wouldn't have bothered me if it was anyone other than Styles on commentary, though. Anytime Steph's ever taken Vince's side since that skit from a few years back where she talked about how he pimped her out to his business associates when she was younger. The whole Katie Vick storyline, where they conveniently forgot that Kane was supposedly locked away for 20+ years. WWE selling Ric Flair vs HBK as a FIRST TIME EVAR~ match when their original match from 91 actually factored into the break up of the Rockers. They corrected this after enough people called them on it, though.

2007: Most disastrous year in WWE history?

PR-wise, I agree 07 is the worst. Quality-wise...the period from about Survivor Series 01 to about SummerSlam 02 was about as bad as you can get. Say what you will about 95 WWF, but as least Diesel never played second fiddle to a dog.
