Look, I know the last thread was just locked. Sorry. If the staff wants to lock this one as well, I can't stop that, but I need to throw my 2 cents in.
It's been just under a year since the Benoit family tragedies. Fans of pro wrestling and non fans alike were shocked.
There have been people who have gone as far as saying Benoit was a heartless monster who did the world a favor by killing himself. Anybody who knows pro wrestling, even if they've never ACTUALLY been in the business, let alone if they never met the man, it's common knowledge that Chris Benoit was a good person.
I totally agree with what Van Dam said and have felt the same way he does since the beginning.
During the first 2 months after the tragedy, there was some Brit who stated how there were a lot of contradictions and unanswered in the Benoit case. Personally, while some of those unanswered questions came to light afterwards, and even though he made some good points that remain to be answered, I feel he was just looking for attention. Sent him an email saying if I could help by starting a message board for his site I would gladly do it and he never replied back. Some old school wrestler now priest(John Lee Clary) suggested Kevin Sullivan would have motive. *sighs* I have no idea anymore.
Even if Chris did kill himself and his family, it still wasn't him. He was never the same after Eddie died. You don't get to be the Michael Jordan of pro wrestling, have a plethora of respect from both your colleagues and fans alike without rightly deserving it.
I'll say this. If it is true that Chris did what he's been accused of, I cannot and will not defend that. But I'll always defend the circumstances it was under. Because never in a million years would Chris Benoit in his right frame of mind ever have done that.
AGAIN, Chris Benoit WAS A GOOD PERSON. Anybody who says otherwise is a closed minded bigot..
Induct Chris into the Hall Of Fame Vince, you know he deserves it.
There are sadistic, narcissistic, evil bastards that will kill somebody because they love hurting others, and there are otherwise good people who snap. Chris Benoit falls into the latter category. Did you not hear the reports on the status of his brain before he died? That was partially due to all the bumps he had taken over the years, partially because of his depression after Eddie died, and who knows what else.
Was it OK for Eddie to have had his demons, but not Chris? I know, Eddie never killed any of his kids or his wife, BLAH BLAH BLAH. ALL of us have some sort of dark side. I do, and I know damn well each and everyone of us here does whether you admit it or not. Eddie was inducted and he had a dark side. I can only imagine what he was like when he was drunk. zomg wut kind of massage doz that send to r yuth that excessive drinking and doing drugs is ok and ull still be respected 4 that? My life was turned upside down because my father made me go hungry because he needed his heroin and that bastard Eddie Guerrero gets inducted into a Hall Of Fame all the while people saying how good of a person he was? *gasps* What is this world coming to? (sarcasm by the way)
Of course we have no idea who Chris Benoit was. Not even the slightest. For all we know, Chris could have been a Nazi sympathizer who supported the rise of the 4th Reich out of respect for Hitler. Thing is, we DO KNOW what kind of person Chris Benoit was. There are people who live horrible lives beginning at a very young age with no conscience, and then there are the Chris Benoits of the world. For the millionth time, CIRCUMSTANCES. What about what Jericho said? Does that mean absolutely nothing? Or are you going to grasp for straws and say Jericho is a liar? What about Rob Van Dam? Is he just as "insane" for believing that it really wasn't "Chris Benoit" who killed his family and himself? Is Johnny Lee Clary, former wrestler turned Minister insane as well for saying he actually doesn't believe Chris Benoit killed Nancy and Daniel at all?
Let's say Snitsky killed his family. How can you compare him to Benoit? I would have lost respect for Snitsky(I respect 99% if wrestlers, even if it's just slightly) if he had killed his family. Snitsky has done nothing for the business and he never will. Benoit lived for the business and all the guys in the back had, as I said above, a plethora of respect for him.
All of you calling Benoit a monster and there's no excuse for what he did probably won't watch the following videos, but what the hell, I'll post them anyway. If you do watch, watch the whole thing, they aren't that long

Everybody knows Chris Benoit was a phenomenal wrestler, I'm talking about Chris Benoit the person.
Allow me to throw 2 different situations at you and tell me whether or not you think both are just as bad as the other.
John Doe is 48 and lives in Ohio. Within the last year, there have been many women who have ended up missing from their college campuses only to have them show up days later mutilated, raped, and dead. Now John Doe has had legal trouble in his past. He was hit with a rape charge at the age of 17 but the case was dismissed due to lack of evidence. John Doe gets off on feeling powerful by raping women and gets sadistic pleasure from mutilating his victims.
Let's look at Chris Benoit. Many, many people have called him a good person, myself included. He had done charity work for kids as well as having busted his ass for wrestling fans for years. Chris Jericho said on Nancy Grace that he would go home in between traveling to live events just to see Daniel for a few hours at most. However, as sad as it was, Chris Benoit snapped thanks to circumstances beyond any one's control.
If you say those 2 instances are both as horrible as the other, that's sad. Not everything is black and white.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt, if I was married, we had a kid, and my wife killed herself and our child, while I would surely be bitter, I wouldn't marry someone without truly knowing who they were, so if she had snapped, I wouldn't forgive her per se, but I wouldn't label her a monster because I would know being a good person she would never have done that in her right frame of mind. If somebody killed my child like "John Doe" who I mentioned earlier, I would hate him. It's that simple.
RIP Nancy, Daniel, AND Chris.
