MLB 09 The Show & MLB 2k9
YourKock'sReallyGreat replied to YourKock'sReallyGreat's topic in Video Games
I am in love with MLB 09 The Show. It is the best baseball game to come out to date. I have been playing on veteran status without using sliders. Here are my thoughts on the game so far. The graphics have set the standard for all sports games to come out. The player models are 90-100 percent accurate for each player in their body shape, face and stance. The ballparks are breath taking and 99.9999 percent accurate. Playing the game is almost like watching the real thing on tv. It is funny to think how far videogames have come. I can only imagine how lifelike the series is going to be on the PS4. There are some minor clipping issues in the game but it doesn't detract from the beauty of the game. It should also be noted that the lighting in this game is phenomenel. The time of day and ballpark all cast shadows on the stands, players and field and you can watch as day turns into dusk or dusk turn into night. The gameplay is pretty fun. I haven't noticed any severe glitches yet that would affect gameplay. The hitting in this game can be pretty tough. You really are forced to work the count and force the pitcher into giving you a hittable pitch. I have only faced #1 pitchers so far (Kazmir, Hamels, Beckett, Santana) so that might be a reason why. The pitching so far in the game is a bit easier than the hitting but you can still get shelled if you make a bad bitch. I find it funny to admit but I love the way the pitching works in this game. Your pitcher can lose control if you do not time the meter right and throw lots of balls and even give up walks. My main problem with baseball games in the past is that pitchers were always 90 percent accurate and hardly ever give up walks or even throw a ball. At the end of the season my starting pitchers would all have like 10 walks on the season in 200 innings. I rate this game 9.5 after 6 hours of gameplay. -

My thoughts on the demo. I like the new gameplay but the moves are pretty repetitive. Maybe that will change once I know everything I am doing. The character models looks great and the arenas are above average. I found it funny that Hogan came out first as champion against Andre. Hogan does not rip off his shirt during his entrance which I think should have been put in. Hogan also doesn't pose down after winning. The gameplay has a ton of mini games thrown in and they dont seem that out of place. It's going to take a little bit to get used to the controls after playing alot of Smackdown. Also. It was nice to see Heenan get involved during the game. At one point he gets up on the ring and I knock him off. Another time when I am pinning Andre, Heenan puts Andre's boot on the bottom rope right after the 2 count. It would have been much better if a Ref was in the game. edit I was told on another site that Hogan does the post match posedown in a non championship fight. -

What happens to the contracts of Cooper and Smith since both men are missing and presumed dead? I am sure that the bodies will not be found. I believe it takes awhile to legally declare them dead. It is such a tragic event. I read that both men after a couple of hours decided to take off their life preservers and just swim out/end things. I think that them having to choose between the option of possibly dying a long slow death or a short painful death is terrifying. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

MLB 09 The Show & MLB 2k9

I had a funny glitch in The Show. The LF catches the ball along the foul line to make the final out. He tosses the ball into the stands and then runs down into and through the stands on his way to the dugout. -

How is this show compared to the Chevy Chase Show? It can't be any worse than the Magic Hour. -
It's pretty sad that Manny pissed away his Red Sox Legacy for an extra million or two after making close to a hundred million in his lifetime. He could have gone into the Hall as a member of the Boston Red Sox, had his # retired and be treated like a god in New England. I also think if he had stayed on the Sox that they would have won the pennant last year and maybe the World Series. I hope he is happy with that "extra money" which most is going to be spaced out over the next 5 years.

A link would be nice. I could only find the Michaels/Hart ladder match. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCZsyl0swG4 8 minute video. I hate how wrestlers just automatically go to one side of ring/do a move out of nowhere in this game. 1:35 into the video shows a perfect example. Hulk and Warrior lock up and than a second later they are magically in the corner. -
MLB 09 The Show & MLB 2k9
YourKock'sReallyGreat replied to YourKock'sReallyGreat's topic in Video Games
IGN has reviewed both games. I didn't have a chance to read either review yet but The Show gets an 8.7 and 2k9 gets a 6.8. I believe the show only gets an 8.7 due to the fact that it doesn't offer anything really big over last years game. MLB 2k9 gets blasted due to bugs, glitches and not enough in the game compared to the show. -
What was the dumbest head coach/manager decision in a game?
YourKock'sReallyGreat posted a topic in Sports
This thread is for what you think was the dumbest decision a manager/head coach made during a game. More points for playoff games/championship games. Grady Little. Left Pedro in too long during game 7 of the 2003 ALCS. Yankees made a come back to tie the game and win in extra innings. Grady is ran out of town after the fact. A recent one that I can think of is Eric Mangini going for 4th down against the Seahawks in the 4th quarter of week 16. The Jets were down one possession and turning the ball over on downs would result in the Seahawks being within fg territory. The Jets end up turning the ball over and the Seahawks score and made the game a two possession game. It helped keep the Jets out of the playoffs and was one of the reasons why Mangini was fired. Pat Riley in the 1994 NBA Finals. He left John Starks in all of game 7 when Starks clearly didn't have it. Starks is allowed to go 2-18 in the biggest game of his life. Rolando Blackman rides the pine as the Knicks end up losing by 6 points. -
Who do you all of you think is/are the worst gm's to ever run a team. Name the gm and state your case. As a diehard Knicks fan I have to nominate Scott Layden and Isiah Thomas. Scott Layden inherited a 50 win team that had been to the playoffs the last 13 years. The Knicks were coming off of an Eastern Conference Championship in 1999 and a loss in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2000. How does Layden maintain and improve the team? Well Ed Tapscott is allowed to choose Frederick Weis in the draft over hometown star Ron Artest. Weis never makes it to the NBA and is traded a decade later for Patrick Ewing Jr. Ron Artest turns out to be an absolute nut job/head case but is one of the best defenders in the league and a decent scorer as well. Layden makes one of the ultimate bone head trades by trading Patrick Ewing and his expiring 18 million dollar deal and Chris Dudley who was a decent backup. These two are traded for Luc Longely, Travis Knight (2 stiffs), Vernon Maxwell and Glen Rice. It should be mentioned that Glen Rice was a has been at this point and the Knicks already had Allan Houston and Latrell Sprewell as the SG/SF combo. The Knicks also felt the need to include a first round pick in that trade. The Knicks follow up that trade by sending Erick Strickland and another first round draft pick for Othella Harrington. The Knicks sure do not like to keep a first round pick which turns into a theme for the team for the whole decade. The Knicks then trade Chris Childs and another first round draft pick for the dinosaur named Marc Jackson. Scott Layden really starts to feel generous with the purse by giving Allan Houston a 6 year 100 million dollar deal. Layden follows that up by trading for Howard Eisely and Shannon Anderson who combined made 80 million dollars over the next 6 years. The 2002 NBA Draft was a nightmare for the Knicks. Layden decides to draft Nene Hilario and trade him with Marcus Camby for broken down Antonio McDyess. Amare Stoudemire, Caron Butler, Tayshaun Prince and Carlos Boozer were still available. The Knicks drafted Michael Sweetney in 2003 with Boris Diaw, Josh Howard and David West all still available. Isiah Thomas was next after replacing Scott Layden. Jim Dolan sure knew how to pick his gm's. He trades a bunch of players and two future first round draft picks for Marbury and Penny Hardaway. The Knicks finish below .500 and make the playoffs in 2004 while being swept by the Nets. The Arrival of the Twin Fat Fucks in Jerome James and Eddy Curry. Thomas gives a 5 year MLE contract to Jerome James plus a 1 year player option. Thomas trades a first round pick in 2006 and gives the Bulls the right to switch picks in 2007 plus players for Fat Eddy. The 2006 pick ends up being the #2 overall and the 2007 pick ends up being #9 overall. Thomas ends up trading for one bad contract after another. Jalen Rose, Steve Francis, Malik Rose are all traded for and Thomas gives a huge deal to Jared Jeffries. Thomas and the Knicks were sued by Anucha Sanders who looks like an ape for sexual harrassment by Thomas. The Knicks ended up paying close to 12 million dollars. The only credit that can be given to Thomas is his finding gems late in the draft. David Lee, Nate Robinson, Trevor Arriza and Wilson Chandler were all diamonds in the ruff. Over the course of a decade one of the top teams in the NBA turned into an absolute joke and an embarassment to the league. The Knicks have missed the playoffs the last 4 years and 6 out of the last 7. They haven't had an above .500 year since 2001. Knicks fans finally have some excitement now and are looking forward to the summer of 2010.

What will be the worst movie of 2009?
YourKock'sReallyGreat replied to Obi Chris Kenobi's topic in Television & Film
Wait....whut? The first Mortal Kombat is on my short list of videogame movies that aren't awful, and even shorter list of video game movies that were actually good. The first MK movie was pretty good for a videogame movie and it did well in the box office. I believe it was the #1 movie in the country for 4 weeks in a row from August to September of 1995. The movie did 70 million domestic and 120 total for 1995. -
Jonas Bros were predicted to do 3 times that amount. Especially after Slutty Cyrus did 30 million in less theaters it's opening weekend.

Easy Lover. Hahaha, I forgot about that. Wasn't there a WrestleMania theme/song that had lyrics? I am talking about pre 2000's WM's and not licensed music that the WWE has bought for a show. I am thinking of a song that had the words WrestleMania in it constantly. -
