Looks like they might be closing in on Teixeira. If this doesn't get it done, I'd assume they pull out the Teix ends up with the Angels. I'll be back with comments later if there is any indication that this is getting done tonight or tomorrow. When does Boras call the Yankees for their last offer?

NY Daily News mentioned it and stated that this would give the Yankees flexibility to move Damon to CF if the Yankees were to go after Manny. I am sure the talks would heat back up after Tex/Manny signs with whatever team.

    Christian Cage / WWE

Partial source: F4Wonline.com - As noted earlier, Tyson Tomko returned to WWE this past Monday in a dark match before RAW, defeating Paul Burchill. The match was designed to help Tomko look better and get over with the RAW audience. Word is that when Vince McMahon got a good look at Tomko on Monday and what Vince believed to be his poor physical shape, Vince jumped on John Laurinaitis, who was a big proponent of bringing Tomko back to WWE. A source reports that Tomko may already be done with WWE and may not make it back to the main roster. Tomko was expected to train at Florida Championship Wrestling until WWE was ready for him to come to the main roster. Tomko lives about an hour from FCW's training facility but only showed up to train a few times.

    NFL Week 16

    Dont tell that to Marvin.

    NFL Week 16

I doubt the Jets will lose to the Seahawks, but I also dont think the Ravens lose to the Cowboys..so.. Yahoo playoff simulator I was messing around with that. Interesting enough, if the Giants lose to the Panthers, their week 17 matchup with the Vikings (should the Vikings win this weekend) would be for a Bye Week/#2 seed..now how fn crazy would that be? Also, should Baltimore, NY and Miami win this week and the Patriots lose to the Cardinals (which looks more likely than the Jets losing to Seattle), and then the unthinkable happens and the Ravens lose to the Jags, the Ravens still get in with a Dolphins win over the Jets and they would play the Jets in the Wild Card Game. If the Pats beat the Cardinals this week then they would play the Jets and the Ravens would be out. So basically, if the Ravens win and Patriots lose this week, the Ravens lock up the last Wild Card spot and play the winner of Jets/Dolphins. Im rooting for that to happen. I just did your simulator, if the Jets and Ravens tie for the wild card, the Jets get the spot.

    NFL Week 16

Marvin, did you know that if the Ravens lose to the Cowboys, Jets lose to Seattle and both teams win in week 17. Guess who wins the tiebreaker for the wild card? The Jets.

    Ask Al, Part IV

As long as he stays on the wagon he should have a highly productive career. He will get his big money as soon as he hits arbitration. If he stays clean and productive until he reaches free agency, that's six years. At that point, I don't think a team would hesitate on a big contract. If is a big word in this situation. I am not knocking Josh, I hope he stays clean for the rest of his life. It's just that he is always going to be one second away from relapsing. I just cant picture a team willing to invest tens of millions into him.

    Ask Al, Part IV

What kind of future do you think Josh Hamilton has and the team that he plays for? I heard that he travels with a bodyguard who supervises him 24/7 and doesn't travel with the team. It seems like that he would never get a huge or big contract and never play in a big city. This is due to him potentially falling off the handle at any second.

Well if that's true than fuck him. Thats a dick move to do to a former team you played for. No respect what so ever. Kharma is beyond a bitch.

St Louis On Manny, I personally think the Yankees need to do whatever it takes to sign him. A lot of people have the attitude that the Yankee offense is still stacked or at least in good enough shape that they don't need him, and it really isn't. They performed well below expectations last year and have lost two of their best hitters in Giambi and Abreu. Giambi had an OPS+ of 128, Abreu 120. It's unreasonable to expect Swisher and Nady to replace that production. Really the only sure things in the Yankee lineup are Damon, Rodriguez and probably Jeter to have a bounce back year at the plate. Posada and Matsui have serious injury concerns and who knows which Robbie Cano will show up. Pitching should obviously be much improved this year, and while I'm all for the idea of putting a good defensive club on the diamond, the reality is that they could add a gold glove defensive wiz to the outfield rather than a power bat and it wouldn't make that much of a difference when the team is at best average at the other 8 positions and has to live with the shortcomings of Jeter, Damon, Posada etc. I could live with an outfield of Manny/Damon/Nady for one year. I believe both Damon and Matsui are in walk years. In the offseason you can spend some of that money to replace them with better defensive players in center and left, and move Manny to DH for the remainder of his contract. You'd probably have to let Manny play the field a couple games a week to keep him happy, but so be it. Or if Posada can no longer catch and has to be DH'd at least they can put someone with range in center field. Damon, Matsui and Nady are all in Walk Years. Thats 40 million coming off the books in 2009. Manny is the right choice. It's funny to listen to some Yankee fans who dont want him because of Manny being Manny. These are the same fans who cheered for Daryl and Doc Gooden.. Manny is 35-45 homeruns with 120 rbi's plus. He offers protection to Arod and takes pressure off of him. Yankees might have an average defensive team but they were second least in errors last year. They are waiting to see what Tex does before they go after Manny.

    Ask Al, Part IV

I think Mussina is absolutely a Hall of Famer. That combination of wins and winning percentage is so good that no comparable player whatsoever has been left out. I think Glavine was a better pitcher. If you go by peak, Glavine won 20+ games five times compared to once for Mussina (though Mussina got hosed by the work stoppage). Glavine won two Cy Youngs, none for Mussina. Career wise, Glavine has pitched 800+ more innings than Mussina and he's still going. I am glad you answered. Mussina pitched his whole entire career in the dh steroid freak AL East. Glavine got to pitch in the NL East his whole career. Mussina has 200 more k's in almost 900 less innings. Mussina has an era plus of 123 to Glavines 118. Mussina has a better whip of 1.192 to Glavines 1.314. Mussina has 50 percent of Glavines walks and pitched 1/4 less innings. Mussina pitched in the wrong division and at the wrong time and still put up better #'s. He also spent his prime years pitching in the shadow of Roger the Cheat and one of the top 5 starting pitchers all of time in Pedro. You are right about him getting hosed by the work stoppage. He had 16 wins in 1994 and missed 9-10 starts. He had 19 wins in 1995 and missed 4-5 starts due to the strike.

I am shocked that you think Jose Reyes is better than Jimmy Rollins. Do you think Mussina is a Hall of Famer? Who was a better pitcher, Mussina or Glavine?

    Xbox 360

I am the proud new owner of an XBox 360 to go along with my PS3. I was able to get the 60gb pro holiday bundle off of Dell.com for $270 after Tax. I then took another $130 and bought Mass Effect, Gears of War 1 and 2 and the Xbox 12 month plus 1 gold card. Not a bad haul for $400.

NO need to sigh over him for being stupid. Atlanta isn't going to finish any better than third in the NL East. Phillies, Mets and the Marlins are all much better teams. Oakland could have provided him being on at least a second place team and some years battling for the division/wild card.

I can dig that. I'm personally not a fan of the name, I mean really, Sim? And it's not his 'real' real name so I have to wonder why it was chosen. And did they have to give him the most jobber looking attire ever for the moment? Sim and Manu? Unique at least I suppose. Let me be more precise, I can dig him being in The Legacy. I don't like the name though, but maybe it'll grow on me. Pass, the man is a jobber and 37 years old. OK...first off: jobber level can be fixed. Look at Big Show before he won his second WWE Title Win Second...Batista was around that age when he was just starting in WWE, right? Big Show was also one of the top wrestlers for the past decade and is 7 foot tall and 500lbs. Batista has the look, the body, a couple of impressive impact moves and HHH who put him over 3 matches in a row in the main even PPV. Sim Snuka is a jobber who has to wear a t shirt to coverup himself and will never ever ever get HHH to job once let alone 3 times in the main event at a ppv.
