Huge fuckup in the franchise mode for MLB 2k9 which will be fixed by a patch on release day. I can only imagine what else got by during testing. The premise is that during the off season the computer controlled teams do not sign free agents because they dont have the money to do so. I hope your system is connected online to download the patch if you buy the game.

  3. The Nationals are strongly considering firing Jim Bowden and replacing him Blue Jays assistant GM Tony LaCava. Bud Selig has already given them the go-ahead to make a change without interviewing a minority candidate.

What did Bowden do to get himself fired a month before the season starts? Why didn't they just fire him back in October of 2008 so they could have the new gm develop the team into what they wanted for what is possible for the 2009 season?

  4. They are in the game.

It would be awesome if they had Jimmy Hart talking throughout the match like they did with Daivari in one of the Smackdown games.

In the Manager video they show Jimmy talking with the microphone at the opponent. You couldn't hear anything due to music playing over it.

  5. IGN has about 10 new screen shots up. Hart Foundation vs Legion of Doom, Yoko vs Koko.

They also put up a new 8 minute video with The Million Dollar Man.

    Single Match

    Steel Cage Match

    Hell in a Cell

    Ironman Match

    Submission Match

    Tag Team Match

    Triple Threat Match

    Battle Royal

    Handicap Match

    Royal Rumble Match

Are all confirmed match types in the game. I was writing down notes of the video as I was watching it.

Jake comes out carrying Damien in a bag. It appears once he gets out of the cart like magic in the WM 6 entrance.

    You cannot import DLC wrestlers.

Arenas look very good but the crowd is very pixalated.

It is great to hear The Fink as the ring announcer instead of Lilian Garcia, Tony Chimel and Justin Roberts. It really adds to the epic feel of the game to hear his voice.

Last bit of info from the Article.

Smackdown 2009 CAW's can be imported into Legends with their full stats.

Whole roster minus DLC and women I guess can be imported into the game.

Legend Killer is a gauntlet style mode. You create a Legends on you go after 7 statute's. Each one has you wrestling against one wrestler after another. Between bouts you get a health bonus and after you defeat one tier you get experience points to put towards your legend.

There is also a new Tag Team meter for doing heel acts.

  6. As far as the 1994 Knicks go, eh, Riley was just going with the guy that helped get him there. The Knicks really had no business being in the Finals anyway, getting a screwy Hue Hollins call to beat the Bulls (minus Jordan), not to mention the Pacers outplaying them but somehow losing in 7. The Knicks' luck just ran out.

I do not feel sorry for the Bulls because Phil Jackson sent in the 12th man on the roser (JoJo English) to start a fight with the Knicks playoff MVP that year in Derek Harper. Harper missed 2 and a half games due to that fight which English instigated. The Knicks lost 2 of those games. Riley stated in 2006 during the finals that his biggest regret in coaching was leaving Starks in game 7. As far as the Pacers, they blew game 6 at home that would have won them the Eastern Conference.

  7. My guess is that the PS2 version will be similar to the version from last year, but maybe with the RTTS tweaks thrown in. I mean, '08 was pretty similar to '07 from what I remember.

I've been playing the PS3 demo of The Show: 09, and man, I can't get the hitting down at all. I can pull off a bunt single once or twice a game, but everything I make contact with seems to be a ground out or fly out. It's frustrating because I can do well pitching with Cole Hamels, but it's hard to keep a scoreless game going indefinitely.

I haven't noticed but did they put sliders in the demo? I do alot of guess pitching and I usually wait for the fastball to hit. If the pitch is on the outside of the plate dont even bother swinging at it unless you are trying to stay alive. The first couple of games I was striking out like crazy but now I am getting a couple of doubles, singles and homeruns thrown into the mix. I scored 3/5 in the last 2 games that I played. The 5 runs came in 5 innings due to a tie after 3 innings. I still strike out like crazy because I like to work the count and try to draw a walk or a very easy pitch to hit. You are just goig to have to learn to wait that extra half a second before you swing. I know that they put in batting practice into the game which is going to come in handy.

  8. Don Zimmer 1978 deserves his own wing. Probably his worst move was leaving Dwight Evans to play in September after he'd been knocked out of a late August game by a Mike Parrott fastball. Evans hit .161 with three extra base hits in September into October.

For Yankee fans, how can you forget Buck Showalter leaving David Cone to throw 147 pitches in game five of the ALCS?

The whole entire pen except for Rivera sucked that series against the Mariners. Nobody knew how that Rivera was on the verge of being very good let alone great. Yankees still had a chance to win that series and had a lead in extra innings. People are more pissed about Black Jack being left in too long than about Cone. I still believe that Cone had Doug Strange struck out in that at bat where he walked to tie the game.

  9. As Smues and I were talking about in the 360 thread, there's a demo out for 2K9 right now. It's really mediocre as they seem to have really scaled down on the visuals and the animations; the swings look particularly off.

If thats the case I feel bad for people who love baseball games and only have the 360. I cant wait to play games in the New Yankee Stadium and Citifield.

  10. I may not buy a game this year. Last year's game was nothing more than a roster update, and the whole series is a step down from the superior MVP Baseball line EA Sports made before the exclusivity agreement.

MLB 08 The Show was an incredible upgrade over 07...

Have you seen all of the new stuff in 09? The game looks incredible.

  11. The first thing I thought of when I read the topic was Little also.

But days after that, was more boneheaded managing. The Yankees and Marlins are tied in game 4 of the 2003 World Series which goes to extra innings. Rather than use Mariano Rivera late in the game, like any sensible human being would, Joe Torre summons the immortal Jeff Weaver who hadn't pitched since the regular season. He promptly gave up a game winning home run to Alex Gonzalez, to tie the series at 2-2. The Marlins never looked back and won in 6 games.

Jeff Weaver pitched a 1-2-3 inning before giving up the homerun.

  12. This thread is for what you think was the dumbest decision a manager/head coach made during a game. More points for playoff games/championship games.

Grady Little. Left Pedro in too long during game 7 of the 2003 ALCS. Yankees made a come back to tie the game and win in extra innings. Grady is ran out of town after the fact.

A recent one that I can think of is Eric Mangini going for 4th down against the Seahawks in the 4th quarter of week 16. The Jets were down one possession and turning the ball over on downs would result in the Seahawks being within fg territory. The Jets end up turning the ball over and the Seahawks score and made the game a two possession game. It helped keep the Jets out of the playoffs and was one of the reasons why Mangini was fired.

Pat Riley in the 1994 NBA Finals. He left John Starks in all of game 7 when Starks clearly didn't have it. Starks is allowed to go 2-18 in the biggest game of his life. Rolando Blackman rides the pine as the Knicks end up losing by 6 points.

  13. It's almost that time again with both games coming out next week. Which one are you buying and why? I am going to get MLB 09 again after having MLB 08 last year. MLB 08 was the best baseball videogame that I haver owned and everything that was great about it has been improved in 09. I loved Road to the Show and this year they improved it 10 fold. I hated doing the base running and fielding aspect of it. My player was a first basemen so it was boring waiting for someone to throw the ball over to first base or waiting for the pitcher to throw over. They now have options for you to do all, non routine plays or no plays in the field. The graphics and attention to detail in the game is spot on as well and I loved playing the demo.
