Dude, they're ball-players, not pens, and the "market value" is set by whoever chooses to employ them, for whatever salary they choose to employ them. It's not that hard to understand. -

So pretty much you hold no interest in what players who've already established a career will do...? I'll give you seeing if Hamilton can keep it up but other than that come on. What about Joba, what about CC under the pressure of NY, how does Posada come back crom a career year followed by an injury plagued year, how much longer can Mo be Mo, what kind of year will A-rod have, will Jeter ever settle down and get married!?!? Ok the last point was ridiculous but you see what I'm getting at. -

You're talking about products with the pen analogy, not entertainers or performers. Players are just performers, and the market value is what people are willing to pay them to perform.. -
I hope you guys don't grow to secretly resent eachother. Like me and Milkhawky. Well maybe just him, I still see us falling in love again.

This is how the MLB works. If you want to blame MLB structure for problems go right ahead but don't put that blame on the Yankees for simply being the most successful in that structure. If it was bad for the MLB the MLB wouldn't be letting it happen. Just remember the luxury tax is only there to drive the point home like a cartoon mallet, the Yankees aren't hurting baseball. And when the fucking NATIONALS are willing to offer MORE money than the Yankees, this becomes almost not worth responding to. Yet attendance keeps going up, they both sell the most merchandise, and MLB does all it can to showcase the rivalry. You can't count on any one factor when it comes to playoff ratings other than how big of a market and fanbase the teams playing eachother have, not how good the series will be, not whatever story they can pull out of it and make headlines and highlight reels to, and since I doubt MLB likes trying to ruin itself intentionally I don't think they'd agree with you. Oh please, if you can't get excited about your team aquiring three guys with that much talent just stop watching the game. I agree completely about the defense and Tex is a big help. I'd love to hear why our starting pitching was of no concern though. If you were the Yankee's what would you of done with this money coming off the books? Team defense and the farm system are two things that will always be as good as the coaches on the team are. I don't see how either are relevant when talking about signing free agents over the winter. The third part, I feel horrible for you, I've gone to two Yankee games without even having tickets first and had an awesome beer filled night that didn't cost me more than 100 bucks. So if that's your experience, well, that just sucks. But those teams aren't ruining baseball, so everyone doesn't want to read about them or talk about them. Weird how that works. Although I have to ask, as a pure baseball fan, you'd rather talk about the Rangers than the Yankees? Honest question. -

For the record I would of had sex with every girl pictured regardless of age or actual level of sexual maturity. And I'm guessing if I murder someone and take a picture of it, I shouldn't post it here? Am I right on that or was I thinking too hard about underage vaggle to read this thread correctly? Try to get back to me by tonight you could be saving me crucial minutes of time. -

There is no way you can tell me the Red-Sox/Yankees thing hasn't helped baseball, and I'm pretty sure MLB makes some revenue from games. No one's saying they're singlehandedly the reason baseball still exists I'm just saying, suggesting the Yankees are in anyway bad for baseball is stupid. And I didn't say anything about WS champs right off the bat but if you were a Yankee fan Al, would you be feeling better than you were? How is adding two pitchers who could be number 1's on any other team and the biggest hitter available not something worth getting excited over? There's this weird conversion of people feeling like Yankee fans deserve nothing because they've had so much for so long and then coming back with "well how long has it been since the last one" everytime an arguement comes up. It's just useless anger towards the Yankees even by people who claim they don't have it yet start arguements with Yankee fans for no reason. When all these threads are worth is speculation and bickering, I have no problem saying... Ha-ha-ha, sucks for you, go Yanks. With a very large smile on my face by the way. -

Al can I ask where you get ratings for a season that hasn't happened yet? I was talking about the year coming up my friend, the Yankees haven't inspired this kind of backlash in years and I guarantee you a lot of the people here griping about how it's ruining baseball will be following very closely so they can be one of the first to say "see I told you so!!!!". It's hilarious, they're spending LESS than they did last year at this point, yet when that money was going to Giambi and Pavano no one seemed to be talking about how the Yankees were ruining baseball. Now that they put that money towards actually good players that other fans thought they'd see on their team, the Yankee's are evil and ruining baseball again. Sorry for being happy that my team has a really good shot this year. I forgot I root for the Yankee's, I won't be allowed to justify my fandom until they all make under a million a year. -
So, with spoiler tags I assume, can someone explain to me how this isn't supposed to be another Dirty Harry flick? I was under the impression it actually was until seeing his name was Walt Kowalski (I guess Killer Disney wasn't subtle enough)... and now I'm wondering how this movie that's been promoted with nothing but Eastwood doing Dirty Harry in 3 second clips and the word Oscar thrown around is supposed to be some triumph in film-making that in no way makes a person think of Dirty Harry. Someone enlighten me please.

Orton's promo was just next level. I haven't seen a promo in the WWE done that well in forever, and that includes Jericho's recent heel stuff. They need to push that man to the moon and use him as the official test for building up faces over the next few years.

When I said "better at the game", I meant it in the same sense Henry did when he said they were no longer in a position to financially compete with the Yankees. We won, everyone tried to be us, but 8 years later there is still only one Yankees. This is a team that's the focus of the biggest city in the world of course they're gonna have more money than anyone else. The day I start seeing Brewer's hat's on people who don't follow baseball in Arizona or fucking Hawaii I'll concede that the Yankees are no longer the best at "the game". For all this talk about the Yankees ruining baseball I'd love to see how the ratings are affected by people tuning just in the hopes that the Yankee's fail. Of course we've got more money, we've got more haters than most teams have fans. -

I'm just glad we have owners willing to spend and make the team better rather than do nothing and talk about how other teams are ruining baseball. Hopefully we don't hear any bitching from Sox/Mets fan's angry that we're just better at the game. It's gonna be a fun 09! -
Just keep in mind, Locke keeps being right, and I think the overall theme of the show is what the man says is the point. The island brought them there for a reason, they left before that reason was discovered, so they have to come back. All this shit with the others and widmore and being on/off the island is, to me, just distractions from the main star of the show, the island itself. And this season is guaranteed to have the island as it's main focal point, regardless of how much time they spend on the story of the 06 getting back.

Why are you on my dick? Don't you have anything better to do? Why would I go tanning? I ain't fake like that. One of the few area's you don't have covered. The part that suggests you have a penis must of been a joke, so... touche.... I guess.

Clearly that was a present for all of us. -
Man some of you are just really trying for those TSM awards. I wondering if EHME goes tanning like two, three times a day. Kind of like Michael Jackson in reverse. I think I'm gonna buy you a gun for kwanzaaaa, you seem like the kind of person who'd shoot themselves accidentally.

No it's the area code, the area in which people will be celebrating the near-death beating of The sportsnet canadian athelete of the we couldn't find anyone else with talent award winner. I'm gonna make poi with the blood of canadian children just to mark the occasion. -
I think "racist faggot" is about the most wonderful way to make a point about ignorance I've ever heard. Makes the post before that just seem like badge of honor for ol' JAxl. Let's never stifle the growth and learning of our fellow posters, even if they have what seems to be a borderline homosexual obsession with a man who's made a career off his "primal screams". U-N-I-T-Y, words to live by friends, not just a Queen Latifah classic.

Whoa now buddy, you need to stop spiking the haterade. I think GSP picking up any award with "canadian" in the title is about as much of an upset as Lord Silva beating a one legged midget in a kick-boxing match. Besides, we all know BJ's just waiting to be crowned "Guy Who Feasted on the Sportsnet Canadian Athlete of the Year Like a Lion Mouth-Raping a Gazelle". That's right, the 808 is represented, and it's only gonna get worse the closer we get. -

Just kidding of course, well atleast on the fucking you and your bro up. We do stomp out bouncers here in Calgary though. HONOR! RESPECT! HUMILITY! I bet I know what your favorite Green Day song is. Not to derail this thread from stories about tough, hardcore dudes throwing cigarettes at women(I'm sure it was at least non filter) and 'stomping out' bouncers, which I'm sure is a lot more than the stepping on their feet and running away that I'm picturing... but whatever happened to the rumors of Liddell vs Lord Silva? Now I'm hearing the UK card against Lieties or leities or liltitties, whatever, or maybe not? Can't seem to find anything beyond hearsay, anyone got anything remotely official? A motivated Silva assaulting Chuck sounded like it would be fun to watch, and GSP/Silva is like a birthday present I may not ever get so hopefully they find something for this man to do. -

Just don't credit yourself with banking on the ignorant to perceive this going well for you, that was a present I gave you will all those words. As much faith as I'm losing in your intelligence you still hold a special place in my heart. The follow-up, in all fairness, was a harder question so I'm not gonna pressure you on that one. Keep reading books they help with the words. You'll get there one day. -

Shooter in a Wedding Dress replied to Dark Age's topic in No Holds Barred
Oh and a quick follow-up, do "lucky" items of clothing factor into the overall color-scheme of what a person's wearing, or does it's cosmic nature give it a free pass? I have a green hat that's been doing good things for me but it's a hard color to incoporate with my current wardrobe. Thoughts? -
A thread for me - ME! - to ask Milky a bunch of questions
Shooter in a Wedding Dress replied to Dark Age's topic in No Holds Barred
This is a thread to ask you things correct? I asked you something, and again haven't gotten an intelligent response with any kind of actual examples. You've described what these examples are like, but have yet to actually provide them. Leaving me wondering just what I'm missing. If you keep saying you saw bigfoot and you know he's out there, hell, I'm willing to hear you out, but until I see that picture of bigfoot I can't say I'm a believer. The problem is you never really said anything in that thread, you clearly made an attempt to, which somehow then became about me not saying anything. I showed you what I said and why I said it, albeit too creatively for some to effectively understand, and got the clearly sarcastic, and now I learn "opposite day", response we've gone over. So what gives? Did I just bother you in that thread and you felt the need to go after me as I was going after someone else, and possibly you did it without really having much to say? Sure I'll accept I was being a dick, perhaps annoying to some, but stupid just isn't my thing. So I'd like to know where you got stupid from, as far as I can see, nowhere. Which of course, would make me think you are stupid, and in turn, devalue your opinion to the point of it having the opposite effect. If that's not clear enough I can start drawing graphs, I heard they're making huge progress with visual math and 7th graders.
