Carter mocking the Sonics bench to their faces took some balls. The play he ran didn't.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Todd go back to Marvel for work at this point. That's when you know Todd is in trouble. I'm sure JQ would love to have Spawn under his company's banner though.
-
McFucker should have gotten a better legal team to duke it out against Twist. Losing 8 figures to a hockey goon who felt his reputation would get soiled because of a character with the same nickname as him was asinine. Payback is a bitch for Todd it would appear.

Do the Dodgers end up losing Yhency Brazoban in this deal for sure? He's the only one I would like to see LA keep in this deal.

Vader was discussed as becoming another crony for Vince McMahon like Mick Foley became on the 4/98 RAW where he interfered in the Austin vs. Vince match. Possibly, he was even going to have a title shot vs. Austin. But Vader did not lose weight, as he had been instructed to during his absense after the Kane match, and he was jobbed out for the remainder of his WWF tenure for disobeying orders. His "I'm a fat piece of shit" comment after his return match with Kane was possibly out of frustration in response to his aborted program with Austin, which could have possibly helped revive his career. Vader screwed himself in the end.

TB has lost his mind and/or balls then. IIRC, someone told me he actually praised Avengers Dissasemlbed and went on to defend Bendis' changes (read: errors), which is sad since Tom was the last line of continuity defense in Marvel's front office for years.
-
I'm familiar with the continuity atrocities Bendis has committed. The new Secret Wars book is one of the worst examples of his disregard for continuity right now. The Red Skull was imprisoned in the last issue of Captain America's 3rd series but was shot down in the new 4th series #1 issue so one has to assume he busted out of prison or else one of his clones was the guy who got gunned down. Editors. Comics need better editors. Adding Wolverine to the Avengers is wrong. On several levels. It's like the early 90's version of the new FF all over again.

Iron Man turning bad was *really* bad. The book was readable until adult Stark was revealed as the mind raped killer that Mantis seduced and Kang controlled. The premise was okay. It got rid of Gilgamesh and Yellowjacket 2 but killing off Jarvis would have been something solid instead of killing off the Ogre nanny. But the damage that the Crossing did to Iron Man was severe. Like I said, I still know many people to this day who turned on comics because of how Marvel "GL'ed" Iron Man, which came about just a year after GL went AWOL from the GL Corps. Poor timing. Crappy storyline resolution. Young Stark was such a slap in the face to fans, ala replacing older Hal for the younger Rayner. The storyline should have tied into the FF brining back Richards with Doom tagging along as a surprise. That would have been a much more satisfying conclusion. At least Marvel could have bilked fans for both books with a decent pay-off, something the company has been unable to do for years. IC did *not* need the old Atom or 1st series JLA books to make the book work. Jean just needed to have a stronger build-up given to her when she made her re-appearance in issue #2 and the story would not have suffered. The old Atom series could have been brought up in the "see Sword of the Atom series" in IC so fans could go back and see what Jean was all about but there was no mention like that in the book. Make fans care about her by giving them some insight into her past. At least Meltzer turned Jean into the psycho bitch she should have been made into earlier. Still, the killer's ID was a letdown anyways. It was wasted on a bit character who should have seen the killer push given to someone else, like...Mr.Element (I kid, but the point still stands).

Comics need *good* editors again. I can't stress this enough. This who-is-Hush nonsense is another example of crappy writers getting their way with stories and characters they have no business mucking around with. Just reveal Hush as Jason Todd and get done with it. This is maddening to follow.

I long for the days when comics would use the "see issue #124 for details" but then that would hinder most hack writers from following simple continuity. Comics need good *editors* today, not more writers. IC had no hope to succeed. It could not turn one of the heroes bad since DC is *still* reeling from turning GL into a bad guy. Fans won't accept that. The only hope was to turn one of the 3rd stringer villains into a major baddie with an impressive showdown against the JLA where he/she holds their own well. But that would have needed at least an 8th issue to impress people with and the chances of that succeeding would have been slim. This entire story was just jerk off for Meltzer. IC gave me some hope but things became convoluted by the time Deathstroke got beaten down. This was the first time I had expectations for a story do well in a couple years and it turned out to be a letdown. But I digress. Another *really* bad story: The Crossing. This is one of the worst stories Marvel ever did. Ever. It's just so tremendously damning to read as a comic book fan. I can't stress this enough. I know people who still bring this up as the reason for why they stopped buying comics. It helped ruin what was left of the Iron Man franchise and dragged the Avengers name through the mud until Onslaught stuck the final nail in the coffin.

The lack of continuity in this book was disgusting. Bendis shat on a dozen characters in his bastardized version of the Vault. I did not mind Electro being introduced as the big bad guy. He's okay. But like half the guys in the big panel shot of super villains are either dead or somewhere else at the moment. Re-introducing the Sentry as a bad guy has potential but at the same time he should have been left in Marvel limbo. He was a joke to start out with. Literally. Goddamn, I despise Bendis and the Marvel editors sometimes.

4 months? That's being generous.

Chris Clement would be a *really* nice signing right now.

Comics will never earn the respect that many in the industry wish they had by brining back characters from the dea. Especially dead ones that need to stay dead. Jason Todd being one name in particular. Somehow I see the Joker being tied into this.

Ditching Lo Duca, Mota, Encarnacion, Roberts and Penny hasn't left Dodger fans bitter. It did at first, particularly with Lo Duca but he burned out at the end of the season like he's done before. None of these guys did anything that made fans regret losing them after the season was over. Roberts won the World Series with the Red Sox but that's cool. Shawn Green has been too inconsistent over the years so losing him won't be rough. Locker room leader my ass.

This, the Bibles thread and Cock shots should be enshrined in the Classics folder. The pinnacle of IDRM's posting.

The Dodgers no longer have anyone on the team who hit over 20 homers. Beltre, Finley and Green are now as good as gone. The McCourts should have never been given permission to takeover the Dodgers. Beltre should have been re-signed, simple as that. Becoming a family man and having a new child to look after changed him. He finally became a man. Beltre is probably going to supply the M's with many productive years while the Dodgers watch their unproven prospects develop. The McCourts are cheap-trash owners who short-changed Paul DePodesta when he probably could have put together a decent team. But he needed the cash to do so and he got cut off there. I feel bad for the rookie GM who is going to have his name dragged through the mud. It's not his fault that things went sour with Beltre's negotiations. He just wasn't give the right amount of resources. Shame on the McCourts for giving Dodgers fans the false hope of re-signing Beltre with no problem. I pray that this low ball bullshit does not continue with the Dodgers. Jim Tracy should have told the McCourts to piss off when they low balled him in contract negotiations after the improved season he had. Signing an aging Jeff Kent was the wrong move. They needed to reload with younger talent and instead they pick up a guy who is only getting older, with his numbers diminshing as well. Kent hasn't played 3rd base in several years and that's the position that it looks like he'll be playing. Luckily the Padres and Giants appear to be in limbo on paper but that could change during the season. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" - the Who, wiser people than Dodgers management. Dan Evans must be laughing at all this considering he was the one who scouted for Beltre and is now a consultant for the M's who probably used his assisstance in reeling in Beltre. What a bummer this season is shaping up to be. I hope the Dodgers finish strong in their division next season. I really, really hope so. Good luck Mr.Beltre, your presence on the team will be missed. Besides, whose gonna keep Milton Bradley from going to jail now? Fuck.

Best stories: Most of Marvel's books the from the 60's to the 80's. Worst stories: Many of Marvel's books from 1995 to the present. DC has been too schizo over the past 20 years to churn out a consistent crop of great books. There have been many good stories but the crap outweighs the good. The latest story in Identity Crisis being a prime example of DC's poor story pay-offs (this can also be applied to Marvel as well). Dark Horse comics in the late 80's and early 90's deserves an honorable mention for having many great stories and characters coming out during this time. So does Miracleman, which still holds up well today.

Comics need to stop with the big surprise pay-off stories. There's too much red tape and dissatisfaction within the companies to allow someone to change the entire creative make-up of characters. The ending to IC should have not dissappointed anyone. DC hasn't had a good mystery pay-off in 2 decades. Marvel has been far worse.

DC Comics' Next Big Event after Identity Crisis
Sass replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in Literature
DC is going to retcon itself into oblivion. Comic publishers have become the George Lucas of comics. They want to re-do every original thing they've done. No one ever seems satisfied until they put their own mark on Superman's relationship with Lois Lane or take Joe Chill out of Batman's origin. -
This threads needs to go into the Classics folder.

Probably. I respect you oblivion man.
