I guess its about time he had a bad idea on Amazing. I've loved everythng else up to this point. I haven't liked everything but I think this history twist isn't too bad for the book. It's a somewhat original idea stitched onto an old feud and this is the kick to Spider-Man's balls that Flash Thompson never would have tried. This also does put MJ in a much more flattering light than Gwen, which will pay off in the long run since Gwen is dead and MJ will never die unless Marvel wants to revamp the character's life. Everyone wins out here (even though MJ did hurt Peter in this due to her role in the story). Also, Norman Osborn is now, without a doubt, Spider-Man's nastiest villain after delivering the ultimate slap to his face before things got real nasty publically. This new nugget of information puts a whole new and sick, sick, sick twist on the Spider-Man and Green Goblin relationship. He killed Gwen and Ben Reiley, which were bofo kills with, especially, the first kill looking worse now after finding out this new bit of info. JMS went above my expectations, which weren't really high to begin with, but instead he actually managed to impress me with this twist after his terrible Ezikiel story from a couple issues ago. Those stories should be burned in Alan Moore's pipe before they ever get brought up again.
  2. This is like spot on about how I felt about each guy's showing tonight.
  3. I see this either making or breaking either guy. This will be the debate everyone will watch and read about. The talk about Iraq got nowhere. I also would have liked to have seen Kerry explain, just a little teaser anyways, why he can help Russia with their nukes in 4 years. Maybe I need to read his book. Has anyone here read the book Kerry said he wrote about the nuke situation?
  4. The debate pretty much went as I expected in that it left me generally unimpressed with how both just reiterated their talking points ad nauseum with no real substance behind them. Kerry needed to score a knockedthefuckout win tonight but he didn't do that. I doubt a lot of people changed their minds on who they'll vote for after tonight's debate. Side-tangent: I was totally frustrated with how both guys skirted around the issue of *dealing* with Kim and N.Korea but I understand, and hopefully others will as well, why they did not add any substance or detail to the issue. Kim is crazy enough to hit California with one of his smart missles since he watches *every* US political talk show and was more than likely watching tonight's debate to see if anything would be said about him. He also likes Everybody Loves Raymond so his taste in TV definitely shows the guy has a few screws loose.

    Italian hostages freed

I'm not familiar with Weimar. Too many parties getting a (disorganized) voice?

    Italian hostages freed

Yes. It's as bad as you have heard and then some. This is why I would put a limit on the number of major political parties the US can have if some of them start to get major financial backing.

    Italian hostages freed

Italy has not had much luck in hostage situations and there's been a prescedent set going back over 30 years. During the 70's, one of their top officials was taken hostage and later found murdered after the country thought it had a deal with the hostage holders. It also doesn't help that Italy's government is not on the same page since there is, literally, a party for *everything* in the country. In America, people complain about only having two major parties and not enough other ones to chooce from. In Italy, people complain about having too many parties. This has done the country no good during the last 40 years and is why many people in power over there (and not in power) would rather meet the demands rather than wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait, for something that will never happen. Nothing gets done over there most of the time politically. It's like filibuster hell.

    Bill O'Reilly Vs. Jon Stewart

There was an interview with Stewart in Newsweek (or Time). One of the questions asked was how he felt about being a "voice" for politics. Paraphrased, he said it scared him shitless that some people would think this about him and the show. He dishes out the jabs to both parties equally. You should start watching the show again Czech because your comment is totally off-base (even though I know it seems like there is a liberal bias on the show, there really isn't since both sides get reamed well equally. I mean, it *is* filmed in NY and the populace there is heavily democratic for the most part or at least in the polls anyways so this line of thinking isn't completely out of touch). Stewart's a really bright guy and he knows that what he does for a living is making bad jokes at the expense of the dumb or stupid things politicians do. That's always been the focus of the show and one of the reasons why it's one of the few shows I try to watch whenever possible.

    Did WDI & SNKT disappear?

There's a restaurant called Hoff's Hut where I live. Yes, I'm serious. No word on whether they only serve newborn's in hot dog buns.
  10. What happened? Is this IHS some sort of joke or is this legit?

    More politics and power struggles

Are you sure? This thread raised some good points about a post-Vince WWE and what could happen to the company and the people in power.

    Did WDI & SNKT disappear?

The message I caught said they were from like Iran and I was all "I knew Hoff's place wasn't a good idea, but this is a bit much," and then, like POW*, it was gone when I came back. Does WDI or SNKT have a beef with these IHS guys or something?

    MNF Week 2: Vikings-Eagles

Context Mike, context. Quickie recap for the Niners during the last couple of seasons: They get shut down by the Bucs in a beatdown playoff game where everyone gives up on trying to win. They fire Mooch and bring in Erikson who was a mind boggling choice to pick as the replacement coach since he's never been a successful NFL coach. Their QB starts facing more scrutiny than ever for his dminishing numbers and fans longing for the days of Joe and Young throwing bombs down the field. Their running game goes to shit because half of their O-line is injured and can't block thus taking out the one component they had success with beyond their passing game. TO is getting double coverage but can't get any balls thrown down the field to him because his QB can't throw for the long distance. His QB can't throw long distance. His QB can't throw long distance. His QB can't throw long distance. He also has no accuracy when it comes to clutch throws in the pocket and threw INT after INT. TO's numbers diminished and for a prick like him that means losing contract negotiating leverage, which is something someone with the stench of "locker room cancer" surrounding his name in nearly every newspaper. That also won't help your value or character in the eyes of GM's and President's alike. TO doesn't do himself any favors by acting like a total jackass on the field. Blowing up on the side lines and trying to argue with a team coordinator, along with chiding the coaching staff, also doesn't help improve the image of being a spoiled malcotent. In other words, the last couple of seasons have been atrocious for the Niners with TO not doing much to help matters by acting like a complete jagoff. But he wants the damn ball. There is no denying this. He wants to play and he wants to put up numbers that will make fantasy league geeks everywhere cream themselves for the prospect of acquiring him next season. There is no questioning the guy's desire to win and prosper. Practically every interview he has given since the Niners collapse in the Playoffs to the Bucs has been: "I want the ball thrown to me so I can score touchdowns and win games. Oh and Jeff Garcia like the man sauce too cuz if it smells like a rat..." That's relatively close to what he's said. He's now got *the* guy who can give him "the damn ball" and now he's satisfied. A satisfied TO is a happy TO. A happy TO means he's going to do whatever it takes to win a Superbowl ring now that he's on a team he feels will help him in this endeavor and are capable of doing so. That is until he fumbles the ball at the end of game 16 where the Eagles end up missing the playoffs due to a 7 - 9 record because of his botched catch. Your mileage may vary and I won't dimiss TO dogging it on days. He did it a lot last season. I've given TO a fresh slate to start with in Philly. New team, new digs and a whole lot of cheese steaks. He has no more excuses for playing average ball since he's got the type of QB that he's wanted to play with for years. The moment he throws a fit or drops a ball is when the fans and the media will be all over him and he'll never hear the end of it. Philly ain't SF and he better know this. Those crazy bastards don't let shit slide down there. Of course I also said that the Eagles won't make the playoffs this season so I could be proven wrong. Best of luck to him.

    MNF Week 2: Vikings-Eagles

McNabb and TO will come to play every day. The same can not be said for half of the Dante and Moss tandem. I should have known better than to go against the Fat Man and his Birdies on MNF. Fuckin ViQueens.

    MNF Week 2: Vikings-Eagles

Heh. This game showed me that McNabb and TO are the real deal and that the Vikes will always end up being chokers (every SB they went to should have went to the Rams).

Minnesota has all of the tools to win it. Smith is going to run roughshod over the Eagles piss poor O line.
  17. From NEWSARAMA: Sass's Thoughts: All I can say is: Thank Jeebus Bruce Jones is leaving the book. From issue #34 to #76, the Hulk only fought 3 super villains. Only 3 villains got face time in a story that ran for 40 + issues and 3 years. The irony here is that the last villain the Hulk fought before Jones took over was the Leader (issue #32). The irony? Jones' final villain he had the Hulk face turned out to be the Leader who was supposed to be dead for all intents and purposes after the Hulk's last run-in with him, which saw him in a comatose "ghost" like state. I wanted to read this last story arc by Jones' as the Leader's big comeback into comics but all I saw was a dope with a giant brain taking a back seat to what was one of the most convoluted and dragged out comic book stories I have ever read. Comic books can be so fuckin retarded. David hasn't written anything remarkable or substantial in compared quality to his Hulk run since he left the book in 1998. His Captain Marvel run blew and no one wanted to read a Joey-like spinoff with Rick and Margot playing foil to CM. Let's see if he'll finish what he started with killing off Betty (especially now that her corpse clone is running around in the pages of Hulk).

Peter David Returns to the Hulk

The Leader has one of the best comic book bad ass resume's in comics (read: Ground Zero). But instead he spends 10 years in a freakin tube only to finally get dropped by the Abomination's ex-wife. Irony.

Peter David Returns to the Hulk

His phsyical body was destroyed in Hulk #400. The slipping-into-another dimension thing came in Hulk #29 - #32 when he tried to kill the Hulk via poisoning. The Leader survived these two battles by transplanting a cloned version of his brain into a life chamber that he used to project holographic images along with being responsible for orchestrating the entire Hulk story drama from issue #34 to #76. More than likely the Leader will come back again but this time the Hulk finished him off this time and doesn't look like he'll be able to come back any time soon. He got pretty trashed in this last fight (with Iron Man, Doc Samson and a bevy of beauties helping the Hulk out). You can't kill big brain.

    Stephen Davis out 2-5 weeks

Hater. You're right though in regards to how poor the D is. The Raiders don't have any any great players on the defensive side but their offense has been solid, sans Gannon reverting back to his old form from '03. The Raiders collapse from last season could be mainly attributed to injuries and penalty points. The Panthers aren't going to suffer for losing Davis. They have depth on their bench, which is something not a lot of other teams have like this team does. Their back-up RB and WR's are legit starters and Coach Fox seems really high on using DeShaun Foster.
  21. Would this make Bush a Jedi Master or a Sith Lord? Staying on topic, Rather is a senile old fool who jumped the gun and appears to have bitten off more than he can chew. Good riddance.

    Yeah, Kerry do THIS!

That article doesn't slam Edwards in the least but it does question whether his "everyman" motto was genuine. That's a fair question to ask since Edwards did become one of the richest trial lawyers ever. Picking cases he knew he could win isn't something I'd rake Edwards over the coals for or being "belligerent" towards the medical profession since that sounds like sour grapes to me from some folks he beat in court. Other than that, the article did a nice job of presenting whether or not infant balls palsy is a legit medical condition. The article in Time or Newsweek gives a great background look at Edward's life growing up and that put things into perspective for me about John Edwards who I do believe is a pretty stand-up guy overall. Context is a wonderful thing and I strongly recommend everyone here check out the magazine articles on Edwards. He could probably convince a village of eskimos to buy some ice (pretending he's a dead baby seal would be a great ice breaker).

    Yeah, Kerry do THIS!

Edwards is good people. He is one meticulous and plan-laying out mother and is a really smart guy. Really, really smart guy. He's several steps above the blood suckers his profession houses and was one of *the* best trial lawyers ever. There's a good article on him in Time (or Newsweek) that discusses his life and other assorted things and really does give you some good background on what carved him out as a boy and how he handled the poor mill worker life he lived with his parents. His wife Elizabeth seems like a really cool lady too and is probably a great mom with her kids. She's alright in my book. At least you can also understand what she says unlike Heinz who sounds like she has cotton balls stuck in her mouth. I hope Edwards does make another bid for President if things with the Kerry camp don't pan out in November. He's got some moxy. I like that.

    NFL's top 100 players

Pfft. Deuce is the quiet RB that no one seems to talk about but manages to work his ass off in every game he's in and puts up good numbers. I agree, the dude got shafted here (along with several other guys).
