Nah, personally I think they should hunt for the killer of Eddie Guerrero in the WWE. Have one of the wrestlers be the killer, that way MAJOR HEAT.

They shouldn't push him as the underdog. He has 17 years under his belt, have him dominate matches, trick people in the ring, have him work stiffer. There's quite a few ways to give people credibility, it's not like Rey doesn't have a big enough moveset to dominate matches. I mean wouldn't you be scared of a guy who could jump out and kick you at any angle or drop you on your head from the ringpost?? All it takes is a small touch of creative booking.
