I second Night of the Comet, if only for that blonde hotty who plays the younger sister. Does The Doom Generation count? If so, that's my pick. I also nominate Niagara Niagara and The Young Poisoner's Handbook. Neither of them are available on DVD, and hardly anyone I know saw them when they came out except for my wife and me.

Cool. I hope they play in the Northeast some time soon.

Yes. If you notice, the scene at the end was merely cuts from the opener. I really liked how they resolved the little things, like the dent in Jim Carrey's car, Elijah Wood's presence in front of Kate Winslet's apartment, etc. Quite masterful.

In case anyone was wondering, I started Trent Green over Ben Rothschild '67 and it worked out great for me. Between him, Ravens WR Randy Hymes, and the Ravens D, I got enough points Monday night to win by one point. T And for this week, I dropped Big Ben and picked up Kerry Collins against the Colts. Was that a good move? I guess we'll find out on Sunday...

What's to "love" about C3(PO)? I don't recall him doing any actual wrestling moves (apart from the Greco-Roman steel chain to the head). Does he even have a finisher? His promos are serviceable but not distinguishing, and he talks way too slow at times, like he can't think of anything to say other than "...cool". It's an interesting character and the hair helps, but unless his wrestling catches up with the novelty, I sense a faux HTM reign (and a low-midcard career) for Tha New Bad Guy. Ditto on the Cena disappointment. Not that I was too high on him to begin with.

Finally saw it last week. Fantastic film. Definitely in my Top 20 all-time. Funny story... watching the credits, the song that was playing ("Light and Day") sounded eerily familiar. At first I thought it was the one they used in the adverts, but when the music credits came on, that's when I realized why it sounded so familiar. The group who performed the song, The Polyphonic Spree, had performed at a record store in Edison, NJ a few years ago, and me and my then-girlfriend/now-wife had seen them, and listening to the song brought me back to how good I time I had that day. The group was about 20 strong, dressed in choir robes, and they were absolutely amazing. If you liked "Light and Day", the rest of their stuff is just as good. (I think they're from Utah.) I also liked how Kate Winslet was able to conceal her English accent so perfectly. Her Americanese sounds almost exactly like Helena Bonham-Carter in Fight Club and Rachel Weisz in The Shape of Things. Not a fan of Jim Carrey at all, but his performance did for me what Adam Sandler's did in Punch-Drunk Love, another of my faves. For at least one movie, my mind was totally changed about the actor. As for whether or not it's a happy ending, I say happy with a caveat. Once they agreed to stick it out at the end of the movie, they basically said, "Yeah, we'll probably end up in the same rut, and probably end up with the same resentment and loathing, and probably want to erase each other from our memories again, but for now, who cares? We're happy, and that's all that matters right now." And not for nothing, but I thoroughly enjoyed that side shot of Kirsten Dunst's naked boobie. She sure has come along way from Interview with a Vampire.

At this point, I'm just gonna wait for the inevitable Star Wars sextology box set and be done with it. No sense buying the Holy Trilogy now if they're just gonna bundle it with the Hayden Christiansen saga in a year or so. Besides, Lucas will probably add/subtract/rearrange/rewrite even more stuff to the HT, rendering the current box set obsolete and pissing off that many more SW superfans.

I read that post sorta like that scene in Blazing Saddles when the town was waiting for the new sheriff. "The sheriff is a ni... BONG!!!"

The OAO Raw is Snitsky in MSG Thread
notJames replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
Yeah, he had that shoulder-length Dutch Boy cut last week. Ultra fey. Get a real haircut, you expatriate hippy! -
It was bad, but the DDP stalking of Taker's wife in 2001 was much more tasteless, and of course it killed DDP of ever being a taken seriously star in the WWE. It never would have happened anyway. Remember, in HappyVinceLaLaLand, wCw = inferior. DDP would still have ended up feuding with pre-Capt. Charisma Christian (if he was lucky). Besides, I think people overestimate just how good the guy was. Take away his long-standing "friendship" with Bischoff, and I doubt his wrestling skill would have taken him far. But yeah, the stalker angle was just horrendous on so many levels.

"Crying" - Roy Orbison

High school football movies begin and end with Wildcats. And maybe Lucas. I will not be seeing this movie. For many many many more reasons than Crono's.

Hypocrisy is the word you're looking for. And since this is WW_ we're talking about, don't look for any deep thought to be put into this guy's character. Remember in HappyVinceLalaLand, foreign = bad. Sadly, the average crowd probably couldn't process anything more complex than that.

No Mercy PPV.. Looks Good/Bad?.. Discuss It Here.
notJames replied to natey2k4's topic in The WWE Folder
I might be in the minority here, but I actually liked the Dudleyz/Dawn Marie vs. Homo Superior/Miss Jackie match. Loads of fun and decent wrestling action to boot. Imagine... a watchable popcorn match that outshined the stultifyingly boring main event. Will wonders never cease? And not for nothing, but one would think that a tombstone piledriver would cause injury to the top of one's head, and not the forehead. Unless the impact cause a blood vessel in JBL's forehead to explode, I'm not buying it. And damn, if everyone and their mother didn't call The Genius John Heidenreich interfering in the match. And I would definitely recommend the London/Kidman match to everyone. Amazing that the crowd would actually cheer like crazy after Kidman won. And the SSP onto a stretchered London was brilliant. Can't wait for the return of a newly-face-turned Chavito. -
What Spiff said. In fact, I wouldn't bother with another defense since the Jets' bye week has already passed. Use the extra roster spot to shore up the really important positions, especially RB since so many of them seem to be the walking wounded lately. If you must have another D, stick with the Pack for now. The rest of them suck and don't match up well within their divisions.

Sorry to derail a bit but... Should I start Trent Green against the Ravens, or Ben Rothschildrosensteinkleineburgher against the Bengals? Bear in mind, I have the Ravens defense. Should I play it safe and go with Green even though he might not perform well, or risk putting in the rookie who might not even throw that much? Thanks in advance, gents.

I like Big Drill Car's cover a little better, but this one's okay. Of course, the song's such an easy pop song to cover that you'd have to either be god-awful or change it to an R-and-B song to make it suck outright. The original by Cheap Trick is, natually, the best version.

D'oh! I completely forgot that Anakin had a last name. Shows how much I liked Episodes 1 and 2, no?
-
Regarding the sequence of events and the viewer knowing about the Vader/Luke lineage, we don't know for sure that the name "Luke" will even pop up in Episode 3. Take if from the POV of someone new to the entire Star Wars series. Say in Episode 3, Padme gives birth to twins. If their names are never announced before the end of the movie, the viewer would never know that the skinny desert kid in Episode 4 is related to either Leia or Vader. Sure, there will be subtle (or not so subtle) hints for all the viewers in the know, but if its not spelled in Episode 3, then there might not be any overt clues connecting Vader to Luke (and by extension Leia). This is all speculation of course, and won't really be finalized until Revenge of the Sith is released. And for all the anti-Lucas sentiment, I for one am excited about both the final chapter of the series and my eventual purchase of the OT DVD set.

I get your point, Graph. But from the few memories I have of Sunny, her "charisma" was more tied into her looks than anything. So she's lost half of her draw already. And her "look at me" primadonna schtick wasn't all that great either. Now that no one wants to look at her, what does she left to offer? Granted, WW_'s continual use of Moolah and Mae Young flies in the face of my "looks are everything with the Divas" argument, but they're the exception to the rule, given their status in the wrestling pantheon.

Hear hear, Sledge. As big a fan of Owen Hart as I am, even I find it a stretch to find the references to death disrespectful or upsetting. The whole point of the story is that Kane lost a child due to the actions of Snitsky. A father lost a child. How else should he react? It's just a passion play. It's over-the-top drama. So Kane's response naturally should be of exacting the ultimate revenge. Is he really going to kill Snitsky? No. Slow news day x2.

"Despite the way she looks now... "?!? No way would they bring her in at this point. If Stephanie complained about how "fat" Nidia was, I seriously doubt they'd let Large Marge through the door. Not that she'd fit through it anyway...
-
Carmella's "promo" was horrible. She was obviously reading a cue card, and her delivery was flat, uninspired and totally lacking in conviction. Her attempt at "attitude" was laughable. I daresay her only attribute is that she's willing to show off the beef curtains in her Playboy spreads. Something I can see without horning in on my wrestling time.
-
More like "rolling" her around the locker room. As for Simon Dean getting Tammy back in shape, it would take stapling her stomach to the size of a change purse or getting her back on the sweet slimming crack. Nothing like spending all your grocery money on drugs to chase the pounds away.

New Jack retires from pro wrestling
notJames replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in General Wrestling
Correction: the only entertainment derived from a New Jack "wrestling" match was the theme music that they always forgot to turn off. If I wanted to see uncoordinated morons throwing garbage at each other, I'll watch the drunken hobos under a bridge. Oh, and Nash sucks a bag of soggy dicks, too.
