Movies worth owning for just one part

Please spoil it. I have no desire to see the movie, but I love a good joke and payoff.
  3. The Cruiserweight Battle Royal was a golden opportunity to add at least one more match onto the PPV, and they blew it. They could have easily had one or more of the eliminations lead into a mini-feud between two of the combatants, and then have them fight at GAB. Nunzio and London are a perfect example. Nunzio cheated to eliminate London, so naturally, London wants revenge. Clean and simple. Johnny the Bull can provide outside interference. Hell, have Kidman be London's second, and there's four relatively talented guys on the PPV with a purpose. Instead, we get the New New Midnight Express in singles matches against the Green Goblins for no good reason. And where the fuck are the former tag champs Homo Superior? Don't tell me they'll be pulling Heat duty. In fact, they'll probably have Rico job to Jindrak before the PPV. Sigh. I think I'll stay home on Sunday.
  4. I just ordered a bunch of DVDs for $130, but unfortunately, Simpsons Season 4 and Trainspotting SE were out of stock. Oh well, for those prices, I'll wait a little longer for them. Thanks for the tip!

    Just saw Mystic River.......good film...

I thought the ending was a bit of a letdown. What was the point of Laura Linney doing that whole bitch routine? I think they tried to show how she was resentful of Penn's former marriage and how he much he loved the daughter that wasn't hers, and it was almost like she felt empowered by the death, that now she can claim Penn as all her own and not have to share him with the ghosts of his past. If so, that's all well and good, but she was barely in the movie, so suddenly giving her character something like that seems pretty tacked on. I also felt Penn did a better job in 21 Grams. Here, he was basically channeling DeNiro. Speaking of which, did anyone get a Sleepers feel to tht movie? It might just be because of Kevin Bacon being in it, but the basic premise reminded me a lot of it. Don't even get me started on Bacon's estranged wife and the crazy dealio with the phone calls...
  6. It's interesting how close "Tina" is to TNA. Just thought I'd point that out. My only hope is that the rumours about her wrestling skills isn't another case of Gail Kim hype.

I loved In The Company of Men. Neil Labute's follow-up Your Friends & Neighbors wasn't as good, but it was worth the rental. My favourite Tim Robbins film: Erik the Viking. Classic post-Python stuff with Terry Jones and John Cleese. Superawesome.

    Clerks X: 10th Anniversary DVD

Buy two different versions of the same movie. For example, buying both the theatrical and extended versions of the Lord of the Rings movies.

    Actors

I don't know what you mean by that. And I must strongly stress that I'm not gay. But sometimes when I see a picture of him......maybe I should just stop before I say something that might get misconstrued. Not that I'm one to throw around gossip, but a friend of mine in LA who does a lot of commercial work told me that Elijah Wood is gay. Take it for what it's worth. As for what commercials he's been in, the one most of you would have seen is the old Mitsubishi advert that used the Barenaked Ladies song "One Week" (I think that's what it's called). He's the guy in the passenger seat rambling off the lyrics, and ironically, he was the only one in the car who actually knew the lyrics. For reference, he kinda looks like Judd Nelson in Relentless. And if the rumours are true about Adam Sandler being in the remake of The Longest Yard, then double the hate I already have for him.
  13. I saw it for my Film Reviewing class when it first came out. It was okay, not too memorable. Maybe I'll check it out again if USA replays it in the future.

The OAO Raw Thread for 06/14/04

"...the most storied rivalry in the history of the WW_..." Technically, that's true, since WW_ has only been around for a couple of years. But I am truly amazed and appalled at all the manufactured drama they tried to attach to the Clique feud. What a ham-handed display of total shit. JR should be shot for feeding into this mockery of a feud. There was more believable intensity and hatred in the Bret/Austin story (as short as it was) than in this Mutual Admiration Society that HHH and HBK tried to fabricate. If it wasn't for the main event, I probably would have stopped watching the show after the first 15 minutes.

Got it. Got it. My selection: Human Radio - s/t Great eclectic mix of bluegrass, funk, and just plain rockin' fun.

    Clerks X: 10th Anniversary DVD

Patience and blind faith finally pay off... no need to double-dip for me since I heard the rumours about this DVD set so long ago that I opted not to buy the current disc. Damn, that's a hefty list of features. And the animated "lost scene" is supposedly what happens when Randall and Dante go to the funeral. Huzzah!!!

Rico, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas are the only ones that spring to mind. It sucks when I have to use them and then they can't do something simple like suplex Nash.

Two words: Joe Fuckin' Isuzu. Everything else falls short. Except for maybe some non-US commercials, like the "Joe Canadian" ads for Molson.

    Punk Essentals?

Their first two albums were really good, but then they started channeling a Clash cover band and it was all downhill from there. Not that they're terrible now, just that they've travelled too far from their roots. The same thing happened to Suicide Machines. They were all hepped-up punk-ska, then they went soft and boring. Really boring. I prefer Rancid's previous incarnation as OpIvy myself.

So where in the hell were Homo Superior? I would like to think that the tag champs haven't been exiled to Velocity for good.

    Actors who you beleive

She was also really good in The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, and I too count her as a reason to check out Saved!, even though the reviews haven't all been kind. FYI, she played the younger version of Jodie Foster in Contact, and both actresses were in the aforementioned ...Altar Boys. Another undeerrated actress I just thought of is Zooey Deschanel. She was great in both Almost Famous and All The Real Girls. I would also say Maggie Gyllenhaal, but she's been getting props since her turn in Mona Lisa Smile, a movie she probably shouldn't have done. As for actors, I would count Peter Sarsgaard and James Spader.

Too true. That guy adds nothing to the commentary but bluster and bullshit, much in the same way that Michael Irvin ruins NFL Countdown. I hope Byron Scott bitchslaps him.

The One and Only Smackdown! HCTP Thread

Yeah, I noticed that with my Ken Shamrock CAW. Any time I block a kick, I can transition straight into the anklelock, although I prefer his Special Anklelock, which starts out as an armbar, then he rolls into the anklelock. That gets an automatic tap out 9 times out of 10 if there's sufficient leg damage. No need to button mash or anything to get the submission. I noticed the same thing with the the Trailerhitch. Once you lock it on, your opponent more often than not taps out immediately. And thanks for the tips on the stances, IDRM. I will definitely be doing some tweaking on my CAWS tonight!
