If I had known Miss Hathaway was going to show her frannies, I wouldn't have rented that abysmal movie "Havoc", although seeing Bijou Phillips's brand spankin' new boobies almost made up for it. Almost.

It was either Jaws or Kramer v. Kramer (I can't remember… I was . My mom apparently wasn't concerned with the content of movies back then. The former made me afraid to go in our basement, and the latter made me leary of jungle gyms and naked women. Upon further research, it was probably Jaws, since the other one came out in 1979, and I'm sure I saw Star Wars in 1978.

Bucking tradition and putting the Rumble 3rd from the top was wrong. Bucking tradition and putting the Rumble 3rd from the top in order to give Under-fucking-Taker and his stupid sideshow theatrics the "real" main event slot was 13 shades of wrong. Between Cena winning, Henry in the main event, and the prospect of UT retiring at WM undefeated AND world champion, I don't think I've ever been this disappointed in a Royal Rumble PPV. Not even Rey Rey eliminating HHH was enough. Blech.

Agreed. He succeeded with Heather Graham*; he can definitely do it with Ms. Johannsen. In fact, I think he should cast the two of them in a sequel to Boogie Nights? Boobie Nights! I'd buy that for a dollar. * the nudity, not the statuette.

A Love Song For Bobby Long, with John Travolta. I thought it was a really good film. Incidentally, that scene was cut from the theatrical release. I hope Scarlett chooses to go the full monty before the aging process hits her, ala Kristy Swanson's Playboy appearance. She looked terrible in it. See also Carrera, Tia.

I don't know if this has been covered yet, but was there a reason given for the contract signing for the Big Show/HHH match? I only turned on RAW in bits and pieces, and when I saw that segment I couldn't understand why they did it. The match isn't for a title, so why bother doing it? I guess it was just an excuse to make HHH's match seem bigger than it really is, but really, how insecure is the Stay Puft marsHHHmallow man? Other than that, I can honestly say I paid more attention to that afterthought of a Monday Night Football game than I did to that boring episode of RAW. Don't even get me started on the whole HBK/Vince feud that seems to have started up. Ugh.

I agree, since they seem to be running away from the Rolling Stones. And technically, there are 74 band/artist names. Did anyone mention Cake? (above the Virgin logo, bottom left corner) And I can't believe no one caught the Pet Shop Boys. There are some dubious guesses in here. I think "Jefferson Airplane" is actually the B-52's and the Byrds are most likely the Eagles. I don't see Stone Roses, Queens of the Stone Age, Presidents of the Unites States, Manic Street Preachers (although they might be the white garbed background figures with their hands up), or the Carpenters. The pedestrian lines may be construed as White Stripes, but I doubt it. I do agree that the two posters to the left of Madonna are probably the Dead Kennedys. Some of these are really funny. And if you're getting a red X, go here. Oopsie, I see the Carpenters now.

My wife and I saw the play back when it opened, and loved it. Couldn't wait for the film when we first heard it was coming out. After seeing, I was definitely pleased. My wife was bawling about halfway through the second act all the way to the finale. If you don't like musicals, don't see it. If you like musicals, I highly recommend it. If you saw the musical and are expecting the same thing for the film, be warned. They are two different mediums, so concessions had to be made. I think they did a great job translating it to the silver screen. The one thing I really liked was their treatment of the title song. If you saw it you'll know what I mean. As for the whole AIDS/gay discussion, one person dies of AIDS, one other is on the verge, but doesn't. Three of the main characters are gay, and one is bi.

Uh oh. I think I tossed it out. D'oh!

Bought the DVD last night at FYE in NJ, and Bret signed it for me. I was toward the back of the line, and when I got to him, he looked really tired (he must have signed about 400 DVDs), but he was really nice, and he perked up when I mentioned the word "hero". Apart from Benoit, Bret's probably the only wrestler I would have wanted to meet, and I'm glad I did. What pissed me off, though, was that in order to get the $5 rebate, you have to cut out the UPC code on the DVD case and send it in. Most DVDs have little tear-away Proofs of Purchase inside the case, but this DVD didn't. I think they did that on purpose so people would shy away from claiming the rebate. Damn. Anyhow, the main feature was great. Lots of older footage, really touching moments whenever he mentioned Owen and the rest of the family. And I could see how much he was biting his tongue when he called Shawn Michaels a "little bastard". Can't wait to sit down tonight and watch the rest of the DVDs.

Much better than Exciter. "Suffer Well" is my favourite song on the album, and "Precious" and "Damaged People" also stood out for me.

I loved ONS. That said, I hope they don't do another one, even though it seems to be slated for next year. It just won't have the same feel. I mean, how many times can the "anti-establishment underground wrestling movement" pop back up on a WW_-sanctioned PPV and still feel authentic? Who will lead the "anti-ECW" group this time… Chris Masters and The Boogeyman? Will Rey Mysterio get booed again for doing the 619? How much insurance will they buy when they finally sign New Jack to do the show? The first time will always be the best. Better to just enjoy the memories of that one night than to try to rehash them, which WW_ has the worst track record in doing.

Memo to V1: never come where you eat. And stop comparing Ashley to trannies. That would be insulting… to the trannies.

I have been a wrestling fan since I first saw Orndorff turn on Hogan with the big clothesline. I stopped watching around 1992-ish when college actually gave me a big enough social calendar to avoid TV altogether. I started up again around 1996-ish with the widespread explosion of the IntraWeb. Reading about the changing wrestling landscape got me interested again in the WWF (but only slightly in wCw, considering all the WWF castaways they had). By then my parents had cable, so every Monday I'd leave my apartment and watch RAW at their place. By the time I moved in with my future wife, I got my own cable hook up and started watching RAW and ordering PPVs every time they were on. By mid '97, I hooked up with an old college buddy of mine who hosted PPV parties every month, and we watched them religiously, as there were a multitude of our friends who were interested in wrestling at the time. Now it's 2005. I have been quite apathetic about WW_ for a long time, still watching out of habit, but yearning for something to spark my interest again. My hopes were built around Benoit and Eddy's simultaneous championship runs, but silly me, those hopes were dasHHHed quite quickly. Now I watch MNF without fail (thanks to my induction into my friend's Fantasy Football league), with RAW on picture-in-picture, only changing when an interesting match is on, which is becoming very few and far between. SD! gets taped and fast-forwarded through, although the show seems to be a little bit more interesting than RAW. The death of Velocity has pretty much killed any hopes of regaining my diehard interest in WW_, unless those "lesser" stars start showing up more on SD! What really sucks is for some reason I can't even watch the web shows. As for the PPV parties, our wrestling fan friends have slowly crawled away, and now we're a small ragtag crew of diehards who only show up for a few WW_ PPVs. I've even got my buddy (a long time WWF fan) to order the Bound For Glory PPV, hoping that the alternative wrestling action will downplay the presence of all those lousy WW_ castoffs. If/when my interest in WW_ completely fades away, I will say goodbye without a single thought. I have been down that road before, and I don't mind the view.

Is there a downloadable version of it (and the tag team match from Heat)? I can't seem to get it to play on my computer. Sounds like must-see stuff.

For a show that was overhyped as a homecoming supershow, it fell way short of the mark. Too many old-timer segments when they really should be building on the guys that are actually going to wrestle week after week. Not to nitpick any further than everyone else has, but during the Ironman match, after every pin, the guy should have immediately went for another pin. That didn't happen once, as far as I can remember. Just seems like logic would dictate doing that, especially considering how long the guy on the mat stayed down after the other one rolled off him. In fact, why roll off him? Is that a rule no one ever talks about? Just saying. And the look on that little girl's face after HHH's "heel turn" was priceless. Is everyone in Dallas that naive? "Ohmigod! Triple H hit Flair! Why would he do that to his best friend? He's never done anything like that before!" Un-fucking-believable. The rest of the show (apart from the ladder match) was utterly forgetable. And did anyone else get a lot of pixelation and interference during the show? Quite annoying. Not a good way to usher in a new era of the "same-old same-old". And not for nothing, but if they tease another RAW v. SD! feud and don't follow up... what am I saying? Of course this is what will happen. Plus ça change, plus c'est la meme chose.

I would have some SmackDown! thoughts... ... if they hadn't pre-empted it for baseball again. Fuckin' baseball.
-
Which will never happen. And SD! moving to Friday is bullshit. Already, I've yet to see the show on a Friday. It's always being pre-empted by baseball. As for RAW, it definitely took a backseat to the MNF doubleheader, even though they were two games that were pretty boring. When I'm willing to sit through a dog like Washington v. Dallas (two teams that I hate), that says a lot about the quality of WW_. Can't wait for Oct. 3rd... to see what Spike TV has in store.

So I need a little help with a 3rd WR. These are my guys: Michael Clayton (v. GB) Brandon Stokley (v. CLE) Keyshawn Johnson (v. SF) Travis Taylor (v. NO) Greg Lewis (v. OAK) I plan on starting Clayton and Stokley, but I don't know who my third should be. All three look like favourable matchups, but I'm still not sold on Lewis because of the TO factor. So it's down to Taylor and Johnson. Who should I start? Or should I start them both and bench Stokley? I also have Mewelde Moore as a 4th RB to backup Edge James and Clinton Portis. (My 3rd RB is Marcel Shipp.) Should I bother keeping him? I still kinda have faith that he'll eventually start, but the way Minnesota's offense has been sputtering, that faith is being shaken on a daily basis. Should I keep him? One other thing: I have TE Courtney Anderson against PHI. Should I stick with him or pick up one of these two: Ben Troupe (v. STL) Jermaine Wiggins (v. NO) Thanks in advance for all your input.
-
So, Javon Walker is out. Should I pick up Robert Ferguson, or one of these guys? Keenan McCardell Keyshawn Johnson Marty Booker Also, should I keep TE Eric Johnson and hope he plays next week, or pick up one of these guys: Courtney Anderson OAK Alex Smith TB Chris Baker NYJ

Like what? His mic work is horrible, his ringwork is below pedestrian, his finisher is boring, he's not good looking nor is he charismatic… what could you possibly give him to cover up his seemingly endless string of adequacies? Shawn Daivari as his manager?!?!? The only thing that might get a real pop is if he transitioned his full nelson into a dragon suplex. It would not only increase his arsenal by 50%, it's a believable finisher after the "devastation" of a full nelson. Of course, I don't trust his ability to pull it off safely or even moderately convincingly. I don't think his opponents would either. Why?
-
Okay, so I picked up Eric Johnson, only to find out he's questionable for Week 1. Should I pick up Miller again (and suffer the slings and arrows of my fellow league owners), or pick up one of the following: Jeb Putzier (DEN) Brandon Manumaleuna (STL) Chris Cooley (WAS) Jerramy Stevens (SEA) Matt Schobel (CIN) And I just read that Stokley may end up starting anyway for Week 1. But I'll keep tabs on this situation and, if need be, start Calico.
-
So, with Brandon Stokley injured and most likely not playing in Week 1, these are my options: Tyrone Calico (Tenn) v. Pittsburgh Samie Parker (KC) v. NY Jets Some WRs available on the wire: Justin McCareins (NY Jets) Keyshawn Johsnon and Terry Glenn (Dallas) Travis Taylor and Marcus Robinson (Minn) Greg Lewis (Phil) Any suggestions? Also, should I drop Heath Miller (Pitt) and pick up Eric Johnson (SF)? I picked up Johnson off waivers last year and he did pretty okay for me, but I'm not high on SF's offense. But I have a feeling he'll do way better than Miller. Thanks, gents.
