Pfft.....I don't care if they are 3-0. They've been doing it against JV squads. I think they might make some noise in the Big XII like they did a few years back when they went like 9-3 but I don't see a title or anything in it. Maybe they'll finally get over the Texas hump now that Vince Young isn't there to bring them back anymore.

You said at least not right now. Well it's going to be that way for a long time because it'll take a couple of years of both OU and Texas being down for any of the other teams in the conference to develop a marquee name and be seen as anything except the after thought to OU,Texas, and maybe Nebraska. Maybe if one of them like a Texas Tech can break out and win a national title? Will that make them an instant marquee name? One year with a national title? Or will they have to sustain that level of success to surpass those other 3 teams?

I think he was saying that the possiblity of having a marquee matchup with Big XII #3 vs. Pac 10 #2 is slim because OU and Texas are the only marquee schools(maybe Nebraska but not so much anymore) in the Big XII therefore they'll probably always be 1 and 2 in the conference meaning they'll play in the BCS and the Cotton Bowl leaving a team the caliber of Texas Tech to play in the Holiday Bowl. He's saying to get that marquee matchup against the Big XII's big names they have to count on one of those two teams being down like OU was last year. Am I right? On top of that if OU AND Texas are in the BCS which may happen more often than not then they'll have to move down the rung to the #4 or 5 team in the Big XII making it even worse as far as the name matchup.

There was nothing snide about it. Both Cal and Oregon bitched they deserved a better bowl and then went out and got romped on by "inferior" competition thus proving they didn't deserve a BCS bowl. Don't give me any crap about getting up for it and what not. At the end of the day it's still a bowl game and you still have to get motivated and play it. Nobody's going to feel sorry for you. That's neither here nor there though. We were talking about the Pac 10 deserving a better bowl. Maybe they should start working on getting a better one. I don't know how well fans of Pac 10 schools travel though. Would they travel somewhere far out to watch their #2 team face a big time school in Florida or Texas?
  5. Most of us as sports fans view sports as something important or almost sacred. We take it seriously and we take the teams wins/losses seriously. We believe that winning a championship and doing well is what is important. Conversely we think that all athletes are supposed to be trying their hardest and are supposed to love the sport. They play because they want to win and they care about what they're doing. But are there athletes(and we know there are) that think it's just a job? That when the game or practice is over shut it off like any other job and go home not caring? All they care about is that they're getting paid? What does that do for us as fans? We've made an emotional investment in this team and then you find out one of the central figures in the game doesn't give a damn one way or another? Who are some notable athletes that are just doing a job and don't care? It just hit me the other day while watching OU play football. I just thought "how many of these guys really like and care about football? and how many are just here to get to the NFL to get paid or to be someone famous?" And that's antoher issue. Are there players playing these sports that don't even like the sport? I remember I had a friend in HS. He was really good at football. He played tight end and he was a damn good receiving TE. However he hated football. He couldn't stand to watch it and he didn't really care about the advancement or the sport as a whole, he just wanted to play because he was competitive and it was something he was good at competing at. I dunno. It's hard to put in words but basically if they're just there to get paid and they don't care about the sport then I don't want to see them. And I was just wondering how many of them there were and if any of you felt as strongly or stronger than I do. or maybe you don't care if they're trying there hardest or not?

Teke why do you keep saying the #4 Big XII team goes to the Holiday Bowl when I keep telling you that's not true? The #2 Big XII team goes to the Cotton Bowl.....so where does #3 go if they're not going to the Holiday Bowl? And why then was OU Big XII #3 last year and in the Holiday Bowl? I'm pretty sure Big XII #4 goes to the Alamo Bowl.

Ok I got this story off of an OU news website. I didn't even know this was in the realm of possibilities and if it were to happen it'd be like the worst thing ever. I wanted to see what the political guru's here think of this since it's becoming a political issue.

You're making the Pac 10 sound worse than it is with this Big XII #4 stuff. It's Big XII #3. #1 goes to the Fiesta, #2 goes to the Cotton, and #3 goes Holiday. OU was the #3 team in the conference last season. The reason that #4 Texas Tech went to play Cal was because OU was #1 and in the Orange Bowl, Texas was #2 and in the Rose Bowl. So that meant instead of #2 going to the Cotton #3 had to go and it moved it down.

There's nothing wrong with the Holiday Bowl. It's actually against Big XII #3 not 4. #1 goes to the Fiesta if it's available and they aren't in the national title game and Big XII #2 goes to the Cotton Bowl to play SEC #3. So see not every bowl is going to match up the #1 vs. #1 and #2 vs. #2. There's just too many bowls and too many teams to do that. But a New Year's bowl for the #2 team would be nice but King is right about the perception. I don't want to see East Coast Bias because I think there's a bias for both coasts and the state of Texas but yeah.....the conference is usually perceived as weak fairly or unfairly. It is a one team show usually though. But most conferences aside from the SEC end up being 1 or 2 team shows. And about last year's Oregon team. They proved they deserve the Holiday Bowl when that off the radar OU team outplayed and beat them. Just like Cal the year before. If you're going to bitch you deserved a better bowl then you should win the bowl you get put in against "lesser" competition. Auburn did it. They didn't complain about being disappointed and upset they weren't playing for the national title. They just went out and proved why they should've played for it.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

At least the Pancrase question! And was Shamrock/Ortiz any good? Frank Shamrock that is. Pancrase; depends on whether you mean old or new. Old has modified MMA rules: no closed fist strikes, standing or on the ground. Many fighters such as Bas Rutten, Masakatsu Funaki, Minoru Suzuki, the Shamrocks, Guy Mezger, Yuki Kondo, and Maurice Smith fought in it. IIRC, Jushin Liger and TAKA Michinoku fought once a piece in it. New is more or less Pride rules, with maybe a few tweaks, though I haven't watched a show since Barnett fought Yuki Kondo. Shamrock against Ortiz was great, pretty legendary fight. So what about Shamrock showing up at the first UFC as the King of Pancrase? Did that really mean much? So Pancrase was MMA before MMA? UFC always acts like they invented MMA but that's not true is it? Is it worth checking out? Oh and I said waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay earlier in this thread that I liked Arona. This was after only seeing one fight of him where he was very vicious. Now after viewing more Arona matches I suddenly HATE him.

Wait. The impression I got from reading it was that you could get charged by your internet service provider for certain content and it'd be like having cable TV and some sites just might not be available to you at all.

Edited for accuracy. And it's funny that Leena gets a free pass trolling me. It's obvious that's what she was doing even saying Oregon was undefeated in that sentence. But no it's always Dama's fault in this forum. Everyone else is allowed to come down on him, call him names, flame, and troll him all they want. But the moment he says "Hey that's not right. Shut up." Then it's ALL his fault and we gotta warn him!

N-O. If people keep saying new things about it then I'm going to have to bring it up. What they said on PTI today needed to be mentioned. Plus Leena trolled me. So I was obviously going to respond to that. Or you could not be a prick and let it slide. Or you guys could not be pricks and not troll me. I'm right about the whole OU/Oregon thing. Everyone else in the country aside from Oregon fans agree. I shouldn't be trolled and flamed for being right. My team was screwed. Of course I'm going to be loud about it. And Lushus yes the screwing was last week but all the proceeding action was this week.

It looks like OU will be 3-0 and Oregon will be 2-1 according to the writers and polls if the movement gets enough steam. And Leena do you mean congrats to the officials? Because you know Oregon's own conference admitted OU should've won the game. What are we giving congratulations to Oregon for? Being given the ball when they shouldn't have had it? Being given 15 extra yards on a pass interference calls when they shouldn't have? And this isn't the mad rambling of fans. The Pac 10 even says those calls were wrong and Oregon shouldn't have had the ball. Which means OU would've kneeled and won the game. That simple. After the bad call yeah Oregon beat OU. But it should've never come to that. So they didn't actually win the game.

Hmm....all the writers on PTI just said they're going to pretend OU is 3-0 and that the voters should vote OU as 3-0. I hope that happens. It'll still be on the record as a loss but if they're voted as 3-0 that'd be the best way to work at overturning the decision which every writer in the country obviously thinks should be overturned. Good for them. They don't hate OU afterall.

I probably wouldn't ever do it but it just annoys me that they can't fucking change lanes without getting on my ass and easing over nearly hitting me in the process! Hmmm there's an idea. "Ring this up." *jedi wave of two fingers* "With no questions asked."

I can never let it go! *throws his computer through a window and runs off into a field naked and screaming about Ducks* Anyway what was that PSU/??? game a few years ago that consisted of like two safeties and a field goal? I can't remember who they played but I just remember it being really shitty.

If that's even remotely true, Sooners fans are one sorry group of individuals. That's disgusting and shouldn't even be joked about. I'm basing it off what's happened so far. I personally think it's absurd because it is just a game at the end of the day. But as was said in the other thread. Fans of every team pull this shit as far as the death threats go.

It's been closed and they should be 3-0 according to just about everyone and their mother so it will be mentioned when discussing their record. I can post the sham record and the real record. I actually hope now they lose another game. Because if they don't then things are going to be really fucked up. You think that guys getting death threats now? I guarantee they'll go up 10x if he turns out to be the reason why OU isn't in the national title game.

It's not that I have to say no thank you. It's that I have to say it about 5 times because they won't stop offering me things. And then even after I say no they continue to hammer it home and ask me to buy more things or try to keep selling me something I said no to. I wasn't expecting it to total it out. I probably wouldn't get a new car but it'd make me feel good to get one of those fuckers. Maybe I can be involved in a road rage incident where he's pissed and comes after me and I whip his ass in traffic(or get mine whipped). Either way it's a good story.

Well my 2-1, should be 3-0 according to everyone in the country except Oregon fans, Sooners will luckily get to play at home against a shitty team to give themselves a break. Middle Tennessee State will come to Norman and then 2 weeks later it's time for the Cotton Bowl showdown with the Longhorns. If OU beats the Longhorns then they'll probably win the Big XII and hopefully they can rediscover some killer instinct against Middle Tennessee. It sucks that the game is on PPV though. I'll just go to the bar and watch it. Watch OU improve their record to 3-1(4-0 according to the PTI guys).

Yeah not to mention if we went organic we wouldn't be able to grow enough food to feed the people we are feeding now. So there would be even more starving people in the world! Hit them with that. As mentioned earlier in this thread the people that feel they have to get right up on your ass before passing you. I usually slam on my brakes when they do that and it causes them to wildly swerve into the next lane. I know one day they'll probably hit me but I need a new car anyway and I wonder if I can get away with "I saw a cat run out into the street!!! Did nobody else see that cat!?" Oh and I hate it when I go to the counter at Gamestop and they try to offer me 100 different things. I mean it's ok if that's what you're required to do but don't push me after I've said no. They do that a lot at Gamestop. Just keep going on and on. I'd like to go up to the counter with a game and say "This is what I want. This is all I want. I don't want to buy or consider buying anything else. And I don't have a Gamestop card. And I don't want one." Then if they proceed to offer me anything after my protest I'll say "nevermind" and leave.
