ESPN is still on it's crusade to do away with the coaches poll. You'd think the coaches poll was just the worst thing ever. It all stems from the coaches voting Texas over Cal(which in the long run turned out to be the right thing to do). If ESPN had wanted Texas in that game and not Cal then they would still be supporting the poll. The thing that's funny is that when the computers put OU in the title game in 2004 they screamed "oh the computer element is wrong! get rid of the computer element!" So they made the human element more important and because of that human element Texas was put in over Cal. Then it was "Oh well SOME of the humans are wrong!" ESPN can't make up their damn minds. If it was up to ESPN then the writers and only the writers would determine the national champion and we all know they have their own prejudices and biasness as evidenced by the heisman voting every year.

Yeah but what if you move from like Philly to New York? Then it's not acceptable to take on the new team correct? What about my NBA situation? I'm love the Celtics and I want to see them win more titles. But now that the Hornets are in town I find myself rooting for them to do well despite the fact that I wouldn't if they went back to NO and I can't picture myself wearing any NO gear but my Tony Allen jersey is a frequent article of clothing.

But why? I want to know the secrets! Argh!

Where can I buy K1 DVDs? DO they have Heroes DVDs yet?

Ok? What and who is that pic of? -
Forgive me for not wanting to dig through the whole thread in case this has been mentioned but did Invasion get cancelled?

Is USC off this week? And for that matter was Alabama off last week?
-
Do you guys feel it's better to run a base 4-3 or a 3-4? I've been agonizing between both.
-
I'm pretty sure he was talking about if OU beat Texas because everyone knows the winner of that game will probably win the conference. Too bad OU isn't as good as projected(who knows they might end up being) because then the RRS would be HUGE this year.
-
Speaking of USC. A Nebraska fan called into the radio with the most redneck accent ever and it was just one of the funniest calls I'd hear. He said something like "What are you guys takes on the Nebraska vs. USC game?" "Well it won't be close." "So you think it won't be within single digits?" "No it'll be a double digit blowout. Like in the 21 point range." "So you think Nebraska will beat them by that much!?" "No! USC will win by 21 points or so!" "I dont' think so honestly. I think it'll be more like a 3 point game." "I'll be shocked if USC wins by only 3 points." "No Nebraska will win by 3 points! You guys need to realize that they beat a really really good Louisiana Tech team! That was one of the best teams they'll see all year!" "You're delusional. bye." That guy was pretty delusional and the redneck accent and sloooooow drawl made it even better.

So what are USC's huge flaws? You as a USC fan should know them. Because after saturday according to the national media they have no flaws!

Is this crappy competition that ESPN and the rest of the media created between Reggie Bush and Mario Williams still going on? I'm sure neither of them care or view any sort of competition but ESPN(especially sean salisbury) feels the need to constantly harp on it and compare them. Oh and does Rashaun Woods even still play in the NFL?
-
They do have the best player in the country(Peterson) and one of the best defensive players in the country(Rufus Alexander) but those two players do not a team make. However it's pretty apparent that if Peterson went down OU would be fucked hard. I mean they might've won some of those games they lost last season(TCU and maybe UCLA) if Peterson had been healthy.
-
From what I've seen the ESPN guys aren't questioning if Texas is the real deal, they're questioning Ohio State.
-
We do have a decent receiver. His name is Malcom Kelly and Herbstreit even picked him on the list of "Names which will be household names by the end of the season." And Manuel Johnson was our other awesome receiver but he was hurt. Finley's a good pass catching tight end. Obviously he caught one of the TDs and he was Bomar's first 2 TDs last season. How about the block Finley laid on the Peterson swing pass? The big knock on him last year was that he couldn't block. He was basically a 6'7" slow WR playing tight end. Of course nothing will match the Peterson run against Texas Tech two years ago where Mark Clayton up ended a DB and landed the guy on his head. That's one thing OU is missing. That nasty physical hurt and embarass you mentality. Peterson has it but the rest don't. Teams like Ohio State, Texas, and USC seem to not only want to win but humiliate their opponents in the process.

Yeah there's some interesting shit on there. I was reading about alien abductions and what not. Maybe WP needs to get abducted and raped by a female alien like that Boa dude in the 50's.

In the original poll. You're right about the ten though. I think that: Ohio State, Texas, USC, Auburn, LSU, West Virginia would all beat OU handidly. I think they would have trouble with Iowa, Notre Dame, Louisville, FSU, Miami, Michigan, Florida, and Georgia. We'll find out about Miami next year. Hopefully OU isn't breaking in a redshirt freshman at QB. Maybe they can pick up a good JUCO transfer. Putting a freshman against Miami? yikes. And of course I mentioned it out loud after I thought it. And Leena defending OU? What's up with that? When I'm down on OU everyone is defending them(even 909 defended there performance last week) but when I'm high on them everyone is down on them hardcore.
-
I'm kind of glad OU was moved down to 15. I mean after watching them Saturday I thought to myself "could they beat any other team in the top 10?" and my answer was an emphatic "no" and my best friend who is a big OU homer agreed with me. His exact words were "they'd get their asses stomped by every other top 10 team. It wouldn't be close."
-
Yeah most people thought the same thing last year and they proved everyone wrong. Then again this year they don't have super man running the offense but still....you consistently underrate Big XII teams and I see nothing so far to not think Texas isn't a top 3 team. They had about the same performance as every other team in the top 5!

Man I just read some crazy fucking theories on wikipedia. Stuff about reptilian men and the faking of the moon landing. The reptilian men one was paticuarly funny because it talked about how they've had a hand in society since the beginning of time and ruled in ancient africa and stuff like that. I seem to remember that being a plot line from Ultimate Avengers.

Oh yeah. The government hates black people? I dunno. Some of the stuff I read said that the virus couldn't occur naturally. I've always heard rumors and stuff about Hitler's obsession with the occult and how there was something more mystical and occult related going on with Nazi experiements and what not. How many people here believe in the super natural and things of that nature? is the world just as we see it or is there another layer to things? or has fiction and TV and what not just influenced us to believe that there must be more to the world than what we see?

I just decided to bring this back up(even though it was full of silliness) because I'm just interested in conspiracy theories and alien theories and all that other crap. I don't believe in any of them but it makes for good reading when I'm at work bored. So I figured there might be others that I can look up that people can bring to my attention aside from Kennedy, Area 51, Men in Black, Bigfoot, and the Loch Ness monster. all the theories on AIDs are kind of interesting.

Texas not in the top 5? Crazy. If they beat Ohio State then it's pretty much smooth sailing to the national title game for them. I do think the writers dropped ND so far just so they could write about a 1 vs. 2 match though.
-
If the game was on FSN or TBS OU would be ranked #10. ABC or ESPN #15. I hate the dual poll system. Anyway things may be bad for OU this week unless the defense figures out what's up. Washington's QB is a hell of a lot more mobile than UAB's QB. OU still has the best player in the country though at RB so he will keep them in the game.

I still think USC may have trouble when they get into one of those close games where the poise and talent of Leinart or Bush got them the win. You think they could face another incident like they did at Notre Dame last year without Leinart and Bush? That being said they'll still win 10-11 games and even possibly be undefeated. But why is everyone so high on the defense? I mean Arkansas isn't any great shakes on offense and the last time we saw the defense before that they were being flat out embarassed by just one guy. I'd like to see them against a Pac 10 offense first.
