They only managed to find the Flame using the compass bearing that Locke got from Mr. Eko's stick.

I actually was looking into that at one point; I dropped a resume off at the Public Archives, and in response, got this thing detailing all the various jobs currently available in the city I could apply for. I also learned that most of these jobs have certain unions as top-priority hirings, so you're kinda fucked unless you're in it. I dunno, it seemed like the kind of thing I could get into, but the problem is getting into it, you know? I did consider taking a course in how to be a librarian, but people tend to hold on to those jobs until they die, and there's not many available as a result. Friend of a friend got the same degree I was looking at, and they still don't have a job. Meanwhile, my buddy, who has the same trade I'm getting, literally sat on his ass for months, unemployed (not because he didn't have a job; he's really lazy and didn't need money) until a buddy of his said "You know, I hear ***** is hiring." He sent a resume and had the job the very next day. That's the thing with trades, at least around here: They're NEEDED. Like, Leena said earlier, how many electricians how jobs like that? Well, how many buildings have electricity? Around here, at least, I think what happened is a lot of people starting taking computer science and things of that nature, and kind of forgot about trades, so they're starting to get short in the numbers of people they have. Plus I know that with this trade, if I'm lucky I can score a job at the waterfront, and then I never need to move out of Nova Scotia.

The person who's job it is to teach the kids something. Really hard to do that if he's got an iPod in his ears. I will point out though, that I don't see a need to ban music devices unless they're actually causing problems; I carried my CD player everywhere I went in high school, but I never turned it on between bells.

I went to college. I got a BA in history. Then I learned exactly what that was worth. I'm planning on going to trade school next year. Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning...that's the ticket.

Okay, there's something about this whole thing that I don't understand. How is it that Captain America, who was created by the US Government, and who worked for the Avengers, a team which, if I'm not mistaken, acted with the authority of the US government, was the main anti-registration guy? That seems backwards, to me. But maybe I'm just dumb.

Well, maybe not something YOU'RE chomping at the bit to know. I dunno about you, but the two episodes of no Others had made me more curious about the Others then the 6 with them.
-
But what about the fact that we now know that they're not regular people? They lived on the island BEFORE Dharma, as we have now learned. I don't see how they've lost their mystery; sure, they're less mysterious, but we still don't know where these people came from, why they're doing what they're doing, etc. I mean, I can see just not liking what they're doing with the Others, but I don't see how you can say they're not mysterious, when we don't really know that much about them. That said, this week's episode was another good one, I think. Less talking, more roaming through the jungle looking for stuff. This is exactly what the show has been lacking thus far this season - people actually going out and trying to figure out what in the hell is going on. Also, I'm really really hoping that they're done with Jack & the Others for now, so that when the rescue party shows up, there can be something really fucked with Jack (maybe him joining the Others or something) and then that episode can be a flashback to Jack and the Others - condense it all into one episode.

You need to pay closer attention.

Comments that don't warrant a thread

Um....why? What's wrong with it basically being the same game every time? They found a system that people like, so they're sticking with it, and just adding to it as they release new games. Worked for Mega Man. And Tony Hawk. -
Anyone who misses Anglesault doesn't properly remember Anglesault.

It's think it's because, for reasons I don't fathom, fish is not considered meat in the same sense that a cow is, at least not from a religous standpoint.

There's not many Muslims on this board? This drive me bananas. When I was young, I always assumed it was symbolic. It HAD to be, I thought. I mean, I know what a cracker tastes like, and while I don't know what human flesh tastes like, I bet it doesn't taste like a cracker. I can't fathom how people could take Jesus so *literally* when he said "This is my body, which is given up for you." I mean, Jesus spoke in parables and told stories all the freaking time, didn't he? Also, if I'm not mistaken, he never said "I have actually transformed this bread into my flesh, which is why it's started bleeding", but he did say to do it in rememberance of him. So how the fuck did it get taken so literally? He wanted to be remembered by it; I don't think he wanted people beliving that what looks like wine and tastes like wine and IS wine is somehow the blood of someone who died 2000 years ago. Why would he even want us to drink his blood? That doesn't even make sense. Transubstantiation is one of my big issues with the religon, as you may have guessed.

Quintessential. It's the quintessential big word.

Did they change the meaning of asinine when I wasn't paying attention?

Jack got a tattoo that basically says "outsider". Her marking almost certainly designates her as the same: an outsider, not one to be trusted, etc.

They should do like, year in review DVD sets. Like, a DVD that's just matches from 1996, with someone explaining the storylines of the day, important bits from RAW and PPV's, basically just sum up the year and make it into a DVD.

I don't think the downloading analogy works unless you assume that one is downloading those movies for the specific purpose of playing them in a theater and charging people money for it.

1. You don't see a difference between someone having a song written for them, by a writer they (or someone else working for them) probably hired, and someone listening to someone else's song, thinking it's good, then going out and playing it and giving no credit where credit is due? Claiming that you wrote the thing? 2. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention to the video, but it seems to me that Mencia sure as hell didn't agree with Rogan when he claimed he stole jokes. In fact, I'm pretty sure he said he didn't steal jokes, and that was what the whole thing was about. Unless there was an odd occurance where Rogan said "You're a thief" and Mencia said "yes I am" and they somehow argued about agreeing with each other for ten minutes. That, to me, is the central issue here. If he wants to steal jokes, fine, go ahead. Go on tour as "Carlos Menica performs your favourite jokes from past comedians". Just be up-front about it. Like R&B and Hip-hop is. They have to give credit on samples, as far as I know. So why can't he just admit it? Also, the whole changing his name thing and claiming to be Mexican when he's apparantly not; I'm reasonably certain that if I was a comedian, and I painted my face black and changed my name to Tyrone Biggums so I could tell jokes about black people, I'd get shot. That also bugs me.

Would you listen to a band that didn't write their own songs, they just played other people's songs and claimed they were their own? Like, if Metallica went out and played an old Deep Purple track, and said "No no, we wrote that", don't you think that would be just a little fucking absurd?

FOX News planning right-leaning show similar to Daily Show

As far as I know, it's not just about the ignorance of Americans, but it also has to deal with Canadian political issues of the day. I don't watch it very often. -
Um, rape? What happened? Is it gone already? I hope so.

You know, I never noticed the murderous glint in that little bastard's eye until right now.

What really scares me is that I'm sure that there are people who actually want the bombs to fall, just so they can wander about aimlessly with a shotgun firing at anyone who ever pissed them off for any reason.
-
I'd find somewhere where the bombs were going to land. I'm talking ground zero. I mean, why go to all the effort of trying to survive when you're probably just gonna eventually die of radiation poisoning? Or starve to death? Or get shot by some half-crazy, radioactive redneck? Screw the slow and drawn-out method. I'm gonna instantly get vaporized and leave my shadow burned into the concrete. But for the record, if the bombs were in the air, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have 7 hours. Just being picky.

Kinda neat I guess, but the original is better. Oh Lord, this totally did NOT need Hetfield's voice. That just killed it for me. Gross. And wait; they do a whole friggin' CD of originals without one single solo, and they cram one into here? Jesus.
