HHH can't touch any of those guys (Austin, Rock, Hogan) in terms of being a household name.

I think you missed the point of that altogether. Nah, I think you did. Why would a cult leader be drinking his own Kool-Aid? The whole Kool-Aid thing is usually used to denote that someone else is "drinking the Kool-Aid" of some nutcase. But why would the nutcase drink his own Kool-Aid? He's already psycho. Unless Heyman somehow managed to brainwash himself. When was it said that Heyman was drinking his own Kool-aid? I've never heard that. I know it has been promoted as people have been drinking Heyman's kool-aid, thats why their fans of ECW and of Heyman but I have never heard it any other way. Yeah. Remember how this came up in the first place? I've heard JR say it too.

Avi Arad talks upcoming Marvel movies
The Metal Maniac replied to SuperJerk's topic in Television & Film
The problem with the Hulk movie was that they tried to pretend that the Hulk character has depth. He gets mad then smashes everything. That's not depth, that's a perfect excuse to make a movie that's just about stuff getting blown up. Hopefully that's what they're gonna do this time. -
I once knew a guy who I thought was named Bracey; I didn't learn until months afterwards that Bracey wasn't even his name; it was his last name. But we knew like, 5 other people with that name so it was legit easier that way. Hell, 2 of my best friends are named Chris, and I don't call either of them that. Retail stuff...I second "Load that up in my car". Also, "You're gonna come home with me and bring that in the house too, right?" Har-de-har-har. It wasn't funny the first million times I heard it, it's not funny now. I also hate cashiers who bitch too much. You don't know how often I see some cashier crying out back because some customer yelled at them. CRYING. Because someone was just being a douche. Jesus, QUIT if it's that hard.

That's "Good Old Days". Do you remember sweet Michelle? She was my high school romance She was fun to talk to and nice to smell So I took her to the homecoming dance Then I tied her to a chair and I shaved off all her hair And I left her in the desert all alone Sometimes in my dreams I can still hear her screams Oh I wonder if she ever made it home

First time that I tried it Got a big sugar buzz Nothing gets me high as that sandwich cookie does But I love the filling most I rub it on my roast Mix it in with my coffee and spread it on my toast Dammit, that's gonna be stuck in my head all night. Shit, I just remembered one of my favourite Weird Al songs..."When I Was Your Age" There were seventy-three of us, living in a cardboard box All I got for Christmas was a lousy bag of rocks Ever night for dinner, we had a big ol' chunk of dirt If we were really good, we didn't get dessert Good times. Shit, what was that other one..."The Good Old Days" Do you remember good ol' Mr. Fender Who ran the corner grocery store? Well he'd stroll down the aisle with a big friendly smile And he'd say howdy when you walked in the door Always treated me nice, gave me kindly advice I don't know why I set fire to his place Oh, I'll never forget the day I bashed in his head You shoulda seen the look on his face Yes, I spent a sad amount of my life listening to Weird Al. Shut up.

OAO "WWE .VS. ECW Special" Thread - June/7th/06.

I actually kind of like that idea. Doesn't make Cena look like such a pussy as refusing to accept that he lost would. -

While a clean RVD win would be better, I really can't imagine them doing that, since it makes Cena and Vince both heels, when ECW is supposed to be the heel promotion, from what I can tell. -
OAO "WWE .VS. ECW Special" Thread - June/7th/06.
The Metal Maniac replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
They can do both. Ref bump, ECW ref runs in, double-pin, he counts Cena's shoulders as down, RVD is presented the belt and everyone goes home happy. The next night on RAW the dispute comes in, with Vince saying that HIS ref counted RVD down, so the belt is still Cena's. I'm not saying it's a good idea, I just think that's what they'll do, since they want an ECW champ, but they prolly don't want to turn the ACTUAL WWE title into the ECW belt, and leave RAW with no title. -

It'll be a double-pin. Both guys pin each other at the same time, the ECW ref gives the belt to RVD, and Vince is all "ties go to the champion!" so the belt essentially splits. -
"Smells Like Nirvana" is his most bang-on parody, I think. Because I'm a nerd, here are the lyrics. What is this song all about? Can't figure any lyrics out How do the words to it go? I wish you'd tell me I don't know Now I'm mumbling, and I'm screaming! And I don't know, what I'm singing Crank the volume, ears are bleeding I still don't know, what I'm signing We're so loud and incoherent Boy this outta bug your parents It's unintelligible I just can't get it through my skull It's hard to bargle nawdle zouss With all these marbles in my mouth Well we don't sound like Madonna Here we are now; we're Nirvana! Sing distictintly? We don't wanna Buy our album - we're Nirvana! A garage band from Seattle Well it sure beats raising cattle And I forgot the next verse Oh well, I guess it pays to rehearse The lyric sheets, so hard to find What are the words? Oh nevermind Well I'm yelling and we're playing And I don't know what I'm saying What's the message I'm conveying? Can you tell me what I'm saying? So if you've got some idea Didn't think so; well, I'll see ya! Good stuff. You know, off the top of my head, I can't even think of any other parodies he did that were making fun of the song itself, and not just using the song to make fun of something else.

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread
The Metal Maniac replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film
I think Vader/Luke from RotJ is the best duel in the series. I'm not a huge fan of the final Anakin/Obi-Wan duel in RotS though; it's too flashy and choreographed, I think. Like, there's at least a 30-second span where Obi-Wan and Anakin are just twirling their lightsabers around, not making contact with anyone or anything. WTF? Luke's attack in RotJ makes him look like he's actually trying to kill Vader. He just charges in, swinging away, until he beats Vader down. In RotS, it looks like they're just showing off to each other. I don't get quite the same "he wants him so dead" vibe, when it really shoulda been there. I don't think they'll change the Obi-Wan/Vader duel though, since I don't think Obi-Wan was really trying to fight back; he knew he was more useful to Luke as a force ghost. -
One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread
The Metal Maniac replied to Black Lushus's topic in Television & Film
I still would've preferred if Anakin just got really, really pissed at Padme, and fried her with Force Lightning bolts without even meaning to. I mean, he is supposed to be the most powerful Jedi ever, so I can believe that he might be able to access powers he wasn't even trained in, especially where the Dark Side is all hate and rage and stuff. Plus it'd be a neat parallel to Luke being zapped, and you could easily imagine that being the moment where Vader is like "Oh shit, not again, I have to stop this". I totally agree. As weird as this sounds, I don't think the special effects of the new trilogy will hold up as well as the old. I mean, I watch Episode III now and everything looks so glossly and fake and plastic...it's like it was nothing but a few actors in front of blue screens for two hours. I'm not saying the effects of the old trilogy are better, but at least when I watch the OT, I'm not being constantly distracted by how fake *everything* looks. -
Who is the defining artist of this generation?

So, heavy metal ceased to exist in the 90's? I must've missed that. -
Heavy Metal Band Tournament: Nomination Thread
The Metal Maniac replied to AboveAverage484's topic in Music
I know Spine joking, but the phrases "bizkit" "black" and "metal" should never be used in the same sentence, unless it's to say something like "Fred Durst wouldn't know Black Metal if Count Grishnack stabbed him in the head". Anyway... Iron Maiden Iced Earth Blind Guardian Suicidal Tendencies Elvenking Anthrax Black Sabbath Clutch -
Yeah, this has gotta be my favourite Anthrax album. "Burst" is an awesome song.

Cuz it's from a magazine which focuses on rock/metal?

It almost seemed like she wasn't trying very hard to stop Wolverine, since she probably realized what was going on...didn't she tell Wolverine to kill her, or say words to that effect?
-
Yeah, within the "rules" of this list, Maiden is an easy number one. They've been pretty consistently one of the best metal bands there is since 1980, are still putting out great albums, and they influenced a *lot* of other bands within their genre. My main complaint is that Motorhead should be higher.

A thought occured to me about the Wolverine/Phoenix scene near the end. Someone was saying earlier about how Wolverine couldn't have used a needle, because only his healing factor allowed him to get that close. While I understand that his flesh was growing back as she was ripping it apart, how does him having a healing factor prevent Phoenix from just tossing him a thousand miles away? Like, she's the most powerful psychic there is, and she can't even summon up the telekenisis to knock Wolverine off of Alcatraz?
-
This really shoulda been two movies. One movie about the Phoenix, where they can actually introduce Kitty Pryde and Colossus and Beast (and others) as characters instead of them just suddently being on the X-Men for some reason, and then one about the Cure, where the actions of the Phoenix has caused many to feel even more strongly against mutants. It really, really bugged me that for like, half this movie, Storm and Wolverine were the only X-Men. WTF was that?
