You could argue though, that knowing the Jedi prophecy would only make them more apt to do it. I mean, it's possible that they knew in creating a child that he would be somewhat more likely to turn to the Sith, because he was created by Sith, and thus there might be some weird sci-fi stuff going on. Anyway, maybe they thought that they could fool the Jedi into thinking he was the Chosen one, so that when they turned him, the Jedi would be totally fucked.

    HHH's Motivation

So wait...because he managed to draw money during the WWF's hottest year, while wrestling some of the WWF's biggest draws, that somehow makes HHH a draw? I could have drawn money wrestling Austin or the Rock in 2000. HHH just happened to be there at the time. I wouldn't put too much credence in the WM XXI bit either. Yeah, the show did big numbers, but if you think those numbers are soley due to HHH, you're nuts. Question: Has HHH ever drawn big money based on his appearance alone? I mean, you can't give him the credit for drawing well with Austin and the Rock, because, like I said, anyone could have done that. Also, while not anyone could guarantee big WM numbers, the fact that it's WM does guarantee at least a decent number. So, was there ever a PPV built soley around HHH that actually did good in both ticket sales and buyrate? Because I really don't think you can consider him one of the best draws ever, considering he's not even in the same league as Hogan or the Rock. I mean, those guys are household names; does anyone who doesn't watch wrestling know/care who HHH is?

"Heaven and Hell" by Black Sabbath

I don't really think you need the qualifier "European". Most power metal is cheesy, and I'm saying that as a guy who loves power metal. Hell, even the name power metal sounds kinda cheesy. But like Slayer said, who gives a fuck? If it sounds good, I can forgive some silliness. And I own that Stratovarius CD.

    Intrigued

It is supposed to be three arm drops, but since these days matches need to be over in 3 minutes or less, they don't have that kind of time. They used to use that spot a fair bit, mostly for sleepers, but the only time I can recall someone winning with it was HHH getting a fall over the Rock in their Iron Man.

    HHH's Motivation

Except that when people like Hogan and Flair did it, it was worth a shitload of money. I don't like people comparing HHH to Hogan, because of the critical difference that Hogan was a face. Yeah, he won all the time, but SO WHAT? He's a FACE. Faces are supposed to win, because that's what makes the marks happy. Not saying it's bad for heels to win sometimes, but when you've got one like HHH, who wins all the time, despite the odds, then it really turns some people off. And it's totally contrary to basic wrestling booking logic; why have the guy no one wants to see go over go over ALL THE TIME? Besides, like I said before, Hogan = $$$.

    Spider-Man 3 Villian

Just steal the one from the cartoon. JJ's nephew (who's already been introduced; the astronaut) goes into space on some mission. While there, they somehow come across the symbiote. Then just make up some reason for Spider-Man to be there (maybe the ship could be in danger of crashing, or perhaps they found some new element that some villian wants) when the ship lands, crazy shit goes down, Spidey leaves with the symbiote. The only problem is, to do it that way, you really need to do one movie with a different villian which has the stuff I described, so they can end the movie with Spidey in the symbiote, then the next one can be dedicated to Venom.

And X-Men 3's Beast will be played by...

I suppose that would do for making him look like he's 6'10", but he's also about 900 pounds of muscle. I dunno, it almost seems like it would be more complicated to NOT CGI him.

And X-Men 3's Beast will be played by...

Honestly, I can't see them doing Juggernaught very well without using CGI. I mean, the guy is beyond fucking massive. I figure, if they could CGI the Hulk as well as they did a few years back (and I know not everyone thinks they did a good job), then they should be able to do a better job with Juggernaught, especially considering they wouldn't have to worry too much about his face (what with the mask and all).

    LOST

Ethan is, as far as anyone knows, one of the others. He wasn't on the plane.

    The Da Vinci Code

Yes; because you cannot make a movie unless you're filming it on location.

And X-Men 3's Beast will be played by...

So, is it gonna be furry blue Beast, or big hands and feet Beast?

I dunno that I'd even put Eddie in there. I mean, yeah, he's a good worker, but he can also cut some good promos and has charisma leaking out of his ears, it seems. So I'd say his overness isn't based soley on his in-ring work.

"Heaven and Hell" by Black Sabbath

You cannot judge the S/T in terms of individual songs, considering that most of the songs don't stop and just flow into the next one. Though I think I like Paranoid better anyway.

    The Da Vinci Code

Yeah, about the only mention of Angels and Demons in The Da Vinci Code is when they make some refrence to Langdon being a little bit of a celebrity, after the "incident at the Vatican". But I really don't think it matters which order they're put in, so they could make Angels and Demons and call it a sequel, and it wouldn't change anything. The only problem is that both books are written in literally the exact same style. It's like he had a Mad Lib Novel or something, and just switched around a few names. So movie-goers may be a bit cheesed.
  15. The Metal Maniac

    The Da Vinci Code

Well, if the stuff written in the novel was all factual, then it wouldn't be a novel; it'd be a book explaining the secret. It's fiction, though based somewhat in reality.

    The Da Vinci Code

In a nutshell, it's about this guy, Robert Langdon, who is called in to help when the Curator of the Lovure is killed. The Curator, however, leaves behind a few clues which lead Robert Langdon and the Curator's daughter on a quest to uncover a powerful truth about the world. Anyway, I hope this movie makes a trillion dollars, so that they'll make Angels and Demons next. I think that would make for a much better movie, as there's a lot more action, and some scenes which, if done well, would be amazing, like "Upon this Rock I shall build my Church!"

And all those RAWs which still seemed to be the HHH show. Honestly now; how many times did he wrestle in meaningless tag matches while he was champ? I seem to remember at least a few, and I didn't even watch RAW that much. Yes. HHH should never win a match again, because that is honestly what it would take for me to get really excited about that belt. I really can't give a shit about a belt that I *know* HHH is going to win back shortly.
  18. The Metal Maniac

    That Geico commercial

Holy fuck, that really is Flesh? Does the other guy wrestle under any other names, do you know? He looks like a guy who worked around here, named Kowboy or something.

It is when you're the fucking WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION. No, it's HHH winning, which is the problem.

Are you denying that Arquette is a former champion? What? You're not? Hmmm.

The OAO RAW Thread - 5/16/05

I don't consider Benoit being a former champ a big deal because, like I said, the whole thing to me seemed like just another political move on HHH's part, only done more intelligently. Besides, even if you're a former champ, that doesn't mean you can't be jobbed out. Not saying that Benoit is, but still.

I'm under the impression that anyone can use a lightsaber. If you're not Jedi/Sith, then you won't be very skilled in doing so, but it won't prevent you from using one. Just to toss it out: On that thing someone posted a few pages back about how Lightsabers work, it says that in order to properly construct a lightsaber, you have to arrange some crystals in a very specific way; if you fuck it up, then your lightsaber will explode and kill you as soon as you turn it on. The only way to properly place the crystals is to have some mastery over the Force, so it can guide you to putting them in the right place, or something. So, while anyone could use a lightsaber (though they probably wouldn't want to; your average person isn't quick enough to use one to deflect blaster shots) only a Jedi/Sith can actually BUILD one.

    1. He jobbed at Summerslam. To Randy Orton. 2. M-A-V-E-N was in the main event at SurSer too. 3. Bringing up NYR is really silly, considering that HHH won that friggin' match. 4. The month after Benoit dropped the title, he was in the OPENING MATCH, while HHH was winning back the world title. Bottom line: Benoit's positioning on PPV cards since dropping the title is not a good way to convince me that HHH put him over. Hell, his positioning WHILE he was champ wouldn't convince me HHH put him over. I am still of the belief that HHH only put over Benoit so that when people said he never put anyone over, he could say "that's not true, I put over Benoit!" even though Benoit was already over in the first place, and didn't seem to move very far up the card at all. I mean, did it not seem strange to anyone else that Benoit lost the title to Orton, then never really seemed to care about winning it back (save the rematch the very next night) as Orton went on to drop it to HHH? Basically, it seems to me that HHH is exactly where he was before, and Benoit is exactly where he was before (except he now gets to be called a former champ), only HHH gets to take credit for "putting over" Benoit.

Not really. Luke directly caused the deaths of both Palpatine and Vader. It was Luke who convinced Vader to kill Palpatine, which, in turn, killed Vader. Granted, Vader did commit the act itself, but it was Luke who caused the act to happen. Thus, I think he could arguably be the chosen one. Also... You know, I wondered about this the other day. I mean, at the end of RotJ, we see Anakin, Yoda and Obi-Wan all nice and happy. Do you *really* think Obi-Wan would be so happy hanging out with the guy who not only killed him, but also a number of Jedi, and helped usher in the reign of the emperor. I dunno. It seems akin to shooting someone, then rushing them to the hospital so you can take credit for saving their life. Also: I've read that, in the next movie, it'll somehow come out that Qui-Gon was the first Jedi who learned how to become one with the Force. If this is so...how does Anakin do it? Is he just so good that he doesn't even need to be told how to do it, it just kinda happens? Like, I assume that Qui-Gon teaches the trick to Yoda and Obi-Wan, but who in their right mind would show it to Darth fucking Vader? And on what Kotz was saying; I think it'd be neat if, in the movie, they mention that the prophecy says something along the lines of "And he who is without a father will rise up . . . etc", which would make them think of Anakin, since he has no father. But then, near the end of the movie, have Yoda or someone re-read the original prophecy (which would be in some bizarre language) and he realizes that there's a chance they mis-interpreted the prophecy, and it was more like "And he who never knew his father will rise up", which of course points to Luke. I dunno, I think something along those lines, that would make it more likely that Luke was the chosen one (or at least blur the lines a bit) would be neat.
