That's not silly. What's silly is that if you say it out, it's World Wrestling Entertainment Champion. Yes, John Cena is the champion...of entertainment. THAT'S silly. Anyway, I always considered the WWF title better then the WCW title (I was much more of a fed mark), and I still consider the WWE title to be worth more then the World title.

Solution: stop starting threads. Better solution: Ban the view-spammers. I honestly can't believe he posted this almost an hour ago, and yet no one replied with: Best solution: Ban you. You people are slipping. For shame.

But then again, without Luke, Vader wouldn't have destroyed Palpatine. Hell, Luke's presence on that death star caused the deaths of both Palpatine and Vader. -

Well, yeah, but that doesn't mean they can't mention it. It just seems to me, from watching the OT, that Darth Vader was just another Jedi who happened to turn and kick some ass. They don't really mention the fact (to the best of my knowledge) that Vader was, at one point, the most powerful Jedi of all, or that there was anything special about him at all, from what I recall. But anyway....does that mean that Lucas never mentioned any of this chosen one business until TPM? -
Apparantly, the joke is that they used to make and sell rubber hands as pleasure devices for women - like a vibrator, only a rubber hand. SO Mae Young lost one up there one day. Yeah. It's still not funny.

Question: Before the prequels started being made, was it ever known/hinted at that Darth Vader was the Chosen one? Like, I can recall as a child reading that Darth Vader had to wear the suit because he was burned by lava, so obviously some of his backstory was known prior to the prequels. But was that bit of info ever out there, or was it never mentioned until TPM? -
I don't think it's fair to toss Batista in there. Orton and Brock both got huge pushes and were given the title pretty early on, Brock moreso then Orton. Whereas Batista was D-Von's lackey for a while, then he was some guy in Evolution, then once the fans warmed up to him, he started to get the big push to the title. It just seems to me that Brock and Orton were always going to be champions, whereas Batista just managed to get over with the fans and eventually get that spot.

I'd say Season 5, but it's my personal favourite.

I bought it in November. I haven't even made it to the third island yet. Not that I suck THAT bad, I just find it hard to concentrate on doing the actual missions when there's so much crap to do. Plus I don't even play that often.

I imagine it'd fuck with Luke's head a lot more if he actually had to look in his father's eyes as he fought, also. -

More like 7/8ths. He has his own eyes, spine, brain and some organs. I think that's it. Actually, speaking of how bad that book was, it points out Grevious' eyes, which are described as sullen and reptilian, but on the same page claims that only his brain, spine, and some other organs are still in there somewhere. -

There's a story behind it? Elaborate. -
I agree on the stats and cruisers, but I never experienced the same amount of trouble with the AI or anything like that. And the entrances and all that flash doesn't impress me. I like the fact that it's pretty simple to play, and you can do crazy-ass Elimination Chambers that involve Lesnar spearing Goldberg, only to stand up and get superkicked before hitting the SSP off the top of one of the cells for the finish. Again; not a great game, but I paid $20 for it, and it's a wrestling game. I can deal with that. It's no Fire Pro D though....*sigh*...

There's a scene in one of the cartoons where Grevious is being attacked by a Jedi on both sides, but since he's weilding a lightsaber in each hand, he's able to block both of their strikes. Then, while keeping their lightsabers blocked, his arms seperate in half, and his 3rd and 4th hands each grab a lightsaber of their own from his belt. That's right. THE GUY FIGHTS WITH FOUR FUCKING LIGHTSABERS AT ONCE. So, he's *almost* as cool as Fett. -

While his banning may be been a while in coming, I'm just curious - did mods think he had been extra-dickish lately, or was it a matter of "may as well do it sometime"? Like, was there a specific event that warranted this, or just past history? -

HOLD THE FUCK UP. http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showuser=636 When did Mike get banned? -
But HCTP is probably still the best wrestling game for current consoles, judging by all the negativity I hear about ever other game. I mean, it's not a great game and can be a real pain in the ass sometimes, but it's fun to play with some buddies, at least.

Today at work, I was browsing through a book called something like...A Photographic Dictionary of Star Wars III or something along those lines. You know those books where it'll have mostly pictures, with notes about specific details of the pictures? It was like that, like, they'd have a picture of Grevious and little captions that said like "Grevious has six fingers on each hand, with two opposable thumbs" or "this part of Grevious' armour keeps his remaining organs from falling out." Anyway, I thought it was interesting until I came across a picture of Anakin Skywalker, looking an awful lot like he does in Kotz's sig. There was one caption that said "Hood raised for stealth". I couldn't look at the book anymore. -
If you really wanna get technical, in order to be science fiction (most authors of the genre don't like the term sci-fi, as it has connotations with bad movies and such), the main premise of the book has to revolve around something that is scientifically probable, but not necessairily possible. What I mean is, it's not possible to travel faster then the speed of light. However, in most science fiction books, they do exactly that, because the authors come up with an explanation that sounds at least somewhat probable (IE: They go through a wormhole or something like that). That's not the best example, but I think you see my point. The genre is stories that have some degree of scientific possibility, and of course that does expand on to aliens and whatnot. I wouldn't say fantasy overlaps with science fiction too much though (though it does happen) because the two are kind of opposites: Science fiction is probable, while fantasy is wholly impossible. This is why Star Wars isn't science fiction, or at least, not very GOOD science fiction. I mean, swords made out of LIGHT, that can cut through everything in the universe except another beam of light? I'd say it's more of a fantasy with science fiction elements. Anyways... We're both talking about the exact same thing, Jingus, only what I read came from the intro to Speaker for the Dead (which was included in the "author's definitive edition"). Basically, Card wrote "Ender's Game" as a short story a few years prior, then he came up with "Speaker for the Dead". As you said, he then realized that Ender would be the perfect lead for the book, and so he decided to use Ender. BUT, then he realized that in order to write "Speaker for the Dead" and have it make any sense, a huge chunk of the first part of the book would have to be just about what Ender did in the three thousand years between the books, finding the hive queen and all that other jazz. So he figured it would make more sense to just write "Ender's Game" as a book in and of itself, so that when he wrote "Speaker for the Dead", all those things would be addressed to some degree, so he could just write Speaker without having to worry about it. Plus it fleshed out Ender's character a hell of a lot more (he's not nearly as interesting in the short story) so things worked out for the better. So yeah, "Ender's Game" was always supposed to have a sequel, but only because it had to be written first in order for "Speaker for the Dead" to make much sense. And while we're on the subject, he never intended to write a third or fourth book - but his publisher got him a deal for three books, and he figured he may as well write the third, since then he'd be able to tie up the loose ends of "Speaker for the Dead". And then, in the process of writing "Xenocide", the story just kept getting bigger until he figured he'd need another book to finish it all off.

But we already knew that he wanted to come after us, after he conquered Europe and Asia. Of course he said he didn't want anything to do with us, cuz he planning to sneak attack us. Of course he wouldn't want to announce it. Which is different from Iraq --- how? Well, for starters, Saddam never invaded Europe and Asia.

I know. But someone else made a comment earlier about how it would help protect against teeth. No dice.

I have. Dutch once flipped on me because I asked him who filmed the moon landing. And no, maybe it's not a disrespect to the dead, but it is to a lot of other, still living. Anyway, I see the point you're trying to make, and to an extent I do agree; I just can't see how you'd be surprised that people who get riled up about anything political are getting riled up because people are insinuating that the president is a murderer. Oh come on. People around here do that when they're in a GOOD mood.
-
To be fair, he had always intended on Ender's Game having at least one sequel, since Speaker for the Dead was the book he really wanted to write, but he felt it'd be better if he fleshed out one of his old short stories so he could use the same main character and all that jazz.

If you guys haven't, you should check out some of the new Clone Wars cartoons. Grevious kicks some motherfucking ASS in those. 4 of them came on TV the other day here, so we got to see quite a fair bit of Grevious kicking ass.
