I don't think selling out is a myth, but I do think people use it in the wrong context a lot. People can sell out, but it'd take a producer actually telling them, in plain english, "change your musical style and you'll make a lot more money" for me to consider them a sell-out. It's one thing to want to make money for the art you produce - it's another thing to want to get money by producing art that someone else told you to.

Of the listed ones, I had to go with Somewhere in Time, though I've literally been sitting here for 10 minutes trying to figure this out. As far as nothing cheesy on Piece of Mind...I dunno about you, but Quest for Fire makes me cringe. It's not cheesy in the traditional sense, but there's something about the lyrics that just makes me switch the track every time. As for stuff that isn't listed...I think that Dance of Death beats Brave New World, but not by much.

Ok... To the person who said that Holly was teaching the TE kid a lesson that only Holly understood - Here's the lesson Holly was teaching him. Wrestling is not a motherfucking cakewalk. YOU WILL GET HURT. There's no easier way to impress that on someone then to beat the shit out of them. Is it a nice thing to do? No, but it's hella effective. Second, to Mearle - One, I wasn't generalizing anything about Morgan (unlike people who hear that someone got injured while wrestling Hardcore Holly, and, without knowing ANY OTHER FACTS instantly assume that Holly HAD to be at fault); I was simply stating that I don't like Matt Morgan, albeit in a somewhat vicious manner. Two, I'm gonna quote this part you evidently missed: I thought that was adequate enough to imply that I had been kidding (unlike some, I don't actually think anyone breaking their neck is cool) but it seems to have gone over the heads of some. Sorry about that. Also, Steph < Shane. Shane can at least be entertaining while trying to be a wrestler, if only because it's funny to see him trying to be a wrestler. -

As you said, Bob does have a record of stiffing rookies. However, this record goes beyond rookies, because Bob Holly is a stiff worker (As I believe Foley has stated, and I'll take his word on it). Thus, it stands to reason that he'd be stiffing rookies, because, well, he's wrestling them. That said: I have sincere doubts that Matt Morgan can do anything that a thousand other guys can't, and besides, if a guy his size can't take being roughed up a bit by a guy Bob Holly's size, then he NEEDS to not be in the fucking wrestling biz. Why? He can't take a potato? (I should note at this point that I don't even know how badly Morgan was injured - is this why he's not on TV?) Anyway, the bottom line is that my stance on this is thus: It's wrestling. People VERY RARELY set out to cause serious injury to others, because if they do, they will probably never get work again. But, being as it is a very physical form of entertainment, people do get hurt. Whether this is due to accident, or one worker's preference to allow for very little air between his punches, it happens. If one can't deal with it, they shouldn't be in the biz. Also, people shouldn't be casting blame on other people when they have little/no clue as to the circumstances - but that's more of a life in general thing, I guess. No, you'll just post what the mods let you post...otherwise, you won't be doing much posting. I have no qualms with debating this subject, and you have every right to defend your viewpoint - what I was trying to get at with my "this isn't the right spot" statement was just that - this isn't the right spot, as this thread was intended for something else, but has now de-railed into essentially two seperate threads. Going off-topic is nothing new for TSM, of course, but hey, I figured I'd at least mention it. -

Actually, I believe I've heard that much of the chemicals cows are injected with are somehow female...well, obviously, they're dealing with female cows (because all cows are female) so they'd wanna give them female hormones, I guess... Anyway, yeah, that's what I've heard - it doesn't affect guys so much because female hormones aren't supposed to, really. Though it could be argued that if all these additives are screwing with the chicks this much, it's gotta be doing SOMETHING to the guys... -

You know, injuries do just HAPPEN in wrestling. They don't have to be someone's fault. That's why they're often called "accidents". For all you know, the TE kid just fell on his face, because he's a stupid TE kid who doesn't know what he's doing. This really isn't he best place to be discussing this, what with it being off-topic and all, but lemme just say that you should probably know the circumstances surrounding an injury before going around spouting that Holly did it on purpose. As for Matt Morgan, who gives a fuck? One, it's Matt Morgan, so if Holly had broken his neck, I probably would've wanted to shake his hand. But seriously, it just looks dickish to be all like "Oooh, but he hurt this other loser too...so it MUST have been on purpose this time!" Seriously. People get hurt. Sometimes its someone's fault, sometimes its no one's fault. Don't assume that its someone's fault when you don't know. Thank you. -
Who exactly are you referring to with your first paragraph there, Bruiser? No one has yet made the claim that Keith ever tried to praise HHH - but the claim has been made, both by RHTITE (somewhat indirectly) and JasonX that Keith went out of his way to not badmouth them. Since then, I've been waiting for someone to show me where the fuck they're getting this from. I browsed through a few random old rants, and saw nothing but hhhatred.
-
I was looking for when he did it in 2002-2003, as some have claimed.

Oh, for fuck's sake... It says the dude got a concussion in a match with Bob Holly. So of course, it HAS to be ALL Holly's fault, right? No, it couldn't possibly have been an acident, no sir, because that certainly never happens... For the record, I don't know either way, so it'd be nice to be filled in - but it's still annoying as hell to see people make such generalizations based on the fact that they don't like Holly. -
Again, can someone show me where Keith stopped bad-mouthing HHH? Cuz I'm browsing through these rants and I don't see it.
-
First off, who the fuck cares? He's tired of watching the show; if it doesn't get better, he's gonna stop. Hell, I feel the same way - who gives a fuck? Secondly... I'd like to see these rants, because I sure as hell don't see SK going "out of his way" to put over how great HHH/Steiner or HHH/Booker T was.

Would you meet someone from the board in person?

Goddammit, the Eastern Border of Canada isn't in Quebec! There's four more fucking provinces over here, two of which you probably couldn't find anyone French in, one in which they speak another language altogether (Jaeet Yet?) and one, ONE in which there's actually a number of French people. If you're on the ACTUAL East Coast of Canada, not the imaginary one that Americans think exists in Quebec, your chances of finding a frenchie are not good. -
Canadians I have a question for you
The Metal Maniac replied to razazteca's topic in No Holds Barred
IDRM - Yes, if it's just fries and gravy, it's just called fries and gravy - if there's cheese, it's called poutine. I don't often see people skipping the cheese though - people like their poutine; not me though, never had the stuff. And... You'd be surprised. You know that McChicken sauce that's essentially mayo with a little more flavouring in it that you get at McDonalds? I see people put that on their fries...and not like, just spraying it all over their fires - very carefully fitting as much mayo as they can on each individual fry. I've heard the McDonald's guys complain that they get all these people coming in, ordering a small fries, and asking for like, 10 bags of sauce. It sickens me. -
Mega Man down in the first round? FOOLS~! You cannot beat the Blue Bomber! You can't even kill him! Well, you can, but he'll just be back in 2 minutes, so there's no point. That said, the ultimate "Who would win?" question is still Lemmy or God.

Are you recalling this from Ed's Night Party, as I am? Excellent show. I noticed the eels thing...but I was too scared to click on the links, so I didn't know what, if any, the significance of it was.

Ok, I gotta ask....WHY? Go look at the recent SD games. Is there anything WRONG with them, graphically? I mean, video games can only look so good; that's why they're video games, and not real life. When they can make video games that look like real life, go right ahead, but until then...why bother trying? All they're doing is wasting time trying to make a good thing better, when they should be making a shitty thing not fucking shitty. Honestly, I don't know if I've ever played a wrestling game that I would even remotely call "good" that DIDN'T do this.

Ok, so like, I turned my PC on today, and literally half the icons that were on my desktop are gone. It was all junk I never use anyway, but I'm curious if it's just something that XP is programmed to do, or what-have-you. Also, there's a bunch of icons on my desktop that I have no idea where they came from, nor what they are. They appear to be logs of Javascript, or something...and one is just called "~". Do these kinds of things need to be on my desktop, or can I feel reasonably safe in deleting them?

I do. It was like Coke and Orange mixed together. But the cans were fun to read.

There were only two possible ways for that match to have been booked: 1. Sting gets in the ring, beats the shit outta Hogan and pins him in under five minutes, clean. 2. Sting gets into the ring, beats the shit out of Hogan, but Hogan cheats to make the comeback, dominating the rest of the match until Sting makes his comeback and pins Hogan, clean. What do we get? The world's slowest fast count, a ref who was more biased then Nick Patrick (remember, earlier in the night, Bret Hart had ended the match between Bischoff and Zybsyco for no real reason, and if memory serves, when the nWo hits the ring, not only does he not DQ Hogan, but he tells Sting that he's about to get jumped) and the single stupidest finish I've ever seen. PUT THE FACE OVER STRONG. It's not that tricky of a concept.

How many episodes has it been used in? I know of exactly two, which is not near enough to consider something a running gag, especially when there was a few years between the gag being used. I know it was in the Beer Baron one and another recent one, probably of this season...but I've never heard it used on the show outside of that. Of course, these days I miss the show a whole lot more then I ever used to, so I suppose it's possible...but I would like to know exactly how many times they use this "running gag".

Like...Karova, moloko, devochka...just random Russian words the author felt like using.
-
Yes, the slang is all in the book, and yes, the author essentially made it all up by combing Russian terms with God-knows what. Something makes me want to say it has a name...nadsat? I've been told it can make the book pretty hard to read at first, but you eventually get used to it.

I don't even think I know who he is. Was he in the Star Wars prequels?

Eh - possibly an overstatement, but I think my point stands.
