    So, "Ring of Hell"...

People who buy brand-new hardcover books. Seriously, the things can be fucking expensive. That's why I always wait for paperback.

    LOST

I think you're right - I've had a similar theory for a while, only I believe that the society was specifically Atlantis, and when they somehow originally unleashed the power of the island or whatever, that's what made Atlantis "sink" and destroyed much of their civilization (like the rest of that statue). I also think that some of the "immortal" others, like Richard, are direct descendants of the Atlanteans (or possibly Atlanteans themselves, if they are immortal) and that the special people they look for (like Walt or Locke) might have some of that bloodline themselves. Anyway, even knowing that Locke will still most likely be a prevalent character in the show, it still saddens me greatly to know he winds up dead. I'm really hoping for some fucked-up time paradox or something to save him, or at least a super wicked-awesome explanation of his death.

    Venture Bros. Season 3

So cannot wait for this, despite not actually having cable. My buddy downloaded seasons 1 and 2 a little while back on my recommendation; I watched the show now and again when I had cable, but I never really remembered when it was on so I'd always miss parts. I never appreciated just how fucking clever the show is until I sat down and watched it in order. Holy BALLS.

Former Bush Press Secretary writes "What Happened"

How is this an "explosive revelation"? Anyone who watched any TV before the war should be well aware of this. Cuz Saddam has WMD's, don'tcha know.

The Google SafeSearch Off Picture Thread

Mein cumpf is easily the funniest thing I've seen all day.

Though it still begs the question "how would Jack know?", I would not be surprised if Ben was buried in LA because whoever found his body checked the ID he was carrying, and it listed his home as LA. Anyway, I tried tracking through the thread for it, but I couldn't find it - does anyone remember back in season 2 or so, when the book The Third Policeman was mentioned as somehow being tied in to the show? I read it back then, and I think it gave me a good idea of where Locke is going - I'm going to spoilerize it so as not to give away the book, but I dunno if it'd count as a LOST spoiler (unless I'm right, I guess), since I realized this when thinking about the book and the show.

    LOST

I'd almost say there has to be, if only because I can't see why Jin wouldn't be named as one of the ones who survived for a while. Considering Sun's pregnancy and the timelines involved, why did they say he died on the day of the crash, and didn't survive to get Sun pregnant on the island? Just seems like that woulda been simpler.

Scientists: Same sex couples found in nature.

Who has said this? Nobody; the point I was trying to make was simply that I don't think that animals doing something instantly means it's 100% okay for humans to do, is all. And futhermore, You are my hero.

Scientists: Same sex couples found in nature.

I've never really understood why animals doing something means it's okay for people to do it too. If someone person was discovered to be a cannibal who ate their kids, do you really think anyone is gonna argue "No, it's okay, some animals do that!" Now, granted, that's something else entirely, but I'm just saying, I hate that logic. Gay people can go do whatever they want, but I don't think "some animal does it" should be the reason, you know?

The Things That Anger You Thread.

One day at work, someone put up signs for the Safety "Comitee". Before the day was out, someone had stuck up a piece of paper pointing out this typo. There was something else spelled wrong, but I can't remember exactly what...it was a work like, thinking, but they had written "thinnking", and the person who stuck up the paper also wrote "thinking has ONE n, not two". I simply could not resist the temptation to highlight both N's in the word, and add "Good job." By another day or two, they had removed all the signs, and replaced them with ones that had committee spelled properly. Before that week was out, someone actually CROSSED OUT one of the m's and one of the t's in committee every time it was used. I was flabbergasted. There's also a bunch of boxes labeled "Distroy". I don't understand why a company like Wal-Mart can't afford a few dictionaries.

What's your honest reaction to this?

Ten minutes? That has to include prep time and cleanup, right? From the time I decide it's time to shave my face until the time my face is washed. It's not like I ever actually timed it anyway, I just ballparked.

What's your honest reaction to this?

At 25 years of age, I cannot grow a full beard to save my life. I can grow a goatee and a mustache, and then random patches on my cheeks. I love it. Instead of wasting a bunch of time shaving, I take like, 10 minutes every few weeks.

Wait...You give her a heads-up on Barlow, (who actually doesn't shriek all the time, and drops his vocals low now and again) yet no warning for Tim Owens, who seems to do nothing but shriek his lungs out? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's a bad singer; but I am saying, that as a fan of power metal, his shrieks get on *my* nerves. I'm so glad Barlow is coming back.

I have to second Slayer's later Anthrax recommendation. I was actually going to point that out, until I saw that he already did. Also, have you tried any older Pantera? You may have already, but if not, check out Vulgar Display of Power...I actually prefer Cowboys From Hell, but it has Phil doing some screams you may not appreciate. Also, maybe try some Suicidal Tendencies. They've had a few different styles over the years, but right around How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today and Lights...Camera...Revolution they were pretty metal.

    LOST

It also occurred to me that, if Jacob is able to manipulate events off-island (not a stretch), then maybe Locke's paralysis was caused, in a way, by Jacob, to force Locke into following the path of a thinker, a pacifist, and not the path of violence. Hard to stomp things when you're in a wheelchair. Yes, of course, he eventually was able to walk again, but I don't think Jacob would have been punishing him or anything...just trying to teach him, show him the way.

Man, that was a mindfuck of an episode. I'm starting to think that Locke is actually potentially one of the "prizes" up for grabs here. Notice that Richard seemed to desire Locke following a path of peace and thoughtfulness...Locke taking the knife (showing aggression) was seen as very bad to him. Then later he wanted him to join Science camp, to be a geek. Yet later still, there's Abbadon, telling Locke, essentially, to go be violent. Go hunt and kill. Remember too, he seemed very focused on finding out if anyone survived the plane crash...maybe Locke is the only one he's really after. I think that Locke's state of mind is going to play a big part in the coming events, and both sides here want Locke to be on theirs for unknown reasons. If Locke has decided to be a thinker and a leader, then things will go one way, but if he has decided to be the hunter, then things will go another. Also, Locke being important since birth makes me think he has more in common with Aaron and Walt then previously known.

I don't like that they're going to be changing up the Clone Wars storyline. I hope they at least keep the sweet battles with Grevious.

From the basics of what recall, Charles Widmore and his company are all somehow tangled up in the big mess of companies that somehow funded/supported DHARMA. It's my personal belief that he learned of the nature of the Island through this, and is now attempting to claim it for his own, though I could easily be wrong. Have you tried Lostpedia.com? Also, I'm so glad they finally told Jack they weren't coming for them. I really wanted to hit Jack for that. Like, I'm sorry, but if I'd been on creepy shithole Island for 3 months, and someone comes over in a helicopter and doesn't immediately answer "are you going to rescue me" with a yes, then I'm shooting them in the face. Jack is a fool. Further, awesome to hear what I've been suspecting...Ben and Jacob are back on the same page now, due to the attempted invasion, and as a result, Ben seems like he going to help Locke "learn" about his potential Island powers or whatnot, by taking him to Jacob. Also, I'll bet this is why Hurley apologized for going with Locke; well, not why I suppose, but I figure after this little cabin adventure, we'll know what Hurley was so sorry about. That said, holy shit what an episode. So much happened it didn't even feel like LOST at times.

Of course it isn't. Being a 16-time champ means you LOST the belt 16 times.

    Parents fight over gang ties...

K, so wait. In order for me to have control of my own finances, I have to pass high-level, SAT math. Like, really hard stuff. Just so I can decide whether I want to spend $50 on food or power this week. Just to be able to decide how I spend the money that someone gave me for doing work for them. But to raise kids, I only have to pass the sped Psychology class from first-year university? I think you've got things backwards here. You said that parents should need a license to raise kids, now you say that getting said license should be really easy? That doesn't make any sense to me.

8 teens arrested in beating of girl

6 on 1. Even if she fought back, and landed a perfect punch that dropped the first girl instantly, she'd still have to do that 5 more times. And those other 5 would now be way more pissed off, and would beat her worse.

    WWE Folder sucks dick

It "somehow" led to the creation of WDI cuz all the people that got banned still wanted to post somewhere, so they made a new board. I can't for the life of me recall what led to the Hitler pics though...wait...hadn't they started changing various things (member titles, post counts) and some people freaked? Memory is hazy.

    The OaO Gwar Thread

Meat Sandwich has one of the best videos around. GWAR stomping around a city, trying to read a map, cannibalism, Jesus getting schooled. I love it. Also, I'm not sure, but I think the song TCIMF was thinking of is Saddam-A-Go-Go, which JWest mentioned in the next post, but not in a "that song you're thinking of is..." kinda way. Odd.

"When you watch them struggle with a question, knowing that you have the information that could easily resolve their dilemma; when you see them come very near the truth and then for lack of your information retreat from their correct conclusions and return to error - you would not be human if it didn't cause you great anguish. You must remind yourself, always: It is their law, their choice. They are the ones who built the wall between themselves and the truth, and they would only punish us if we let them know how easily and thoroughly that wall has been breached."
