There's a big difference between being dumb and simply being unaware. Seeing as how your tastes run toward gay anime and effeminate boys yet to wear out their first razor, I figured you would be the most unaware of this as a followup to an Oscar winning, critically acclaimed film that helped launched the career of Richard Dreyfuss and revitalize that of Neil Simon's. Seems I was right. It was OctoberBlood who figured everyone would already know that so take up your presumed stupidity with him. I am quite aware that you should never over estimate what common knowledge is where pop culture is concerned. There are so many people out there where ten years ago is a brick wall to them they won't go past. Not saying you're one of those people though, just musing on the subject.

From the AP wire LOS ANGELES - Actor Ron O'Neal, best known for starring in two "Superfly" blaxploitation movies in the 1970s, has died. O'Neal, who was 66, died Wednesday night at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after a long battle with cancer, his wife said. O'Neal played a cocaine dealer named Youngblood Priest in "Superfly" and the sequel, "Superfly TNT," which he also directed. Though known for his work as a street tough character in the films, O'Neal also was a stage actor. In fact, it was his performance in Joseph Papp's Public Theater production of "No Place To Be Somebody" that brought O'Neal to the attention of the producers of "Superfly." Following the "Superfly" films, O'Neal had a long career as a character actor on television and in movies, appearing in low-budget films like "Mercenary Fighters" in 1987 and "Up Against the Wall" in 1991, which he also directed. In 1996, he joined Jim Brown (news), Fred Williamson, Richard Roundtree (news) and Pam Grier (news) in a reunion of blaxploitation superstars in the film "Original Gangstas." O'Neal capped his career two years ago with a performance in "On The Edge," teaming again with Fred Williamson and Ice-T.

Actually, I would put even money on the fact that Yuna, who started the thread, didn't.

I should probably tell you all that this is a remake of a movie from 1977 based on the original Neil Simon stage play. Richard Dreyfuss starred in the original and became the youngest person at that time to win the Oscar for best lead actor. The popular rumor is that the Academy gave him the award only to piss of Richard Burton.

Yamamoto used to compete in the Memphis area, where JERRY LAWLER used to run a feeder league to the WWE much what the HWA was.

He was the NWA rookie of the year, as was LES THATCHER.

Cuban owns the Dallas Mavericks and the biggest sport in Dallas for years was WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING. Link the fed.

A friend of mine used to have this beta tape with a preview for all the cartoons coming out on NBC that year, 1984 maybe? One was the Mr. T cartoon and the clip showed him punching out a shark. Classic shit.

Because it's so deliciously cheesy? Maybe that's it. I think they tried to do a similar thing with All Time High, but it was just too bad. And I personally don't find Die Another Day to be all that bad. I don't find it good, but All Time High is one of the gayest and generic songs I've ever heard.

who had FIDEL CASTRO wire him $10,000 to pony up as offer to get a rematch with the 1-2-3 Kid. Yeah, link Castro, amuse me.

Ok, just did some quick research. Apparently the theme in the movie and that appears on the soundtrack album is by a guy named Matt Munro, who sounds a lot like Sinatra. The place I got it from had it mislabeled and I never listened to it that closely. So my bad, thanks. I'd have to go back and try to find that site again to see what the cover of him is from, because I swear they had an album cover of Sinatra in the studio recording it with the song.

I thought we were talking about the the songs that plays in the opening credits. In From Russia With love there is a song that plays in the opening credits (after the pre title sequence) that is an intrumental that is still used today. The song you are talking about plays at the end of the movie. Oh, sorry about that. I thought we were just talking movie themes in general from the films. Thanks for the correction. And yes it is Sinatra, because I have it downloaded on my computer and I got it from a site that had the single cover of Sinatra in the studio recording it. And for some reason I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Moonraker theme too.

who was brought into the WWF by JIM ROSS.

You know what always drew insane heat right off the blocks every time. Nikolai Volkoff singing the Russian National Anthem. That's a great intro theme and gimmick that pissed people off back in the day.
-
There are words to From Russia with Love. Sinatra sings it. I love Thunderball by Tom Jones. The worst is All Time High from Octopussy.

Him and Andrew McCarthy made a movie around 1988 where they rob a bank, called Kansas. I haven't seen it in years, but I want to say they both get shot in the end.
-
That's actually not a bad cast for the most part.

Family Man off the WCW Slam Jam Album? That thing was a hunk of shit as was all the songs on there. Man Called Sting is tolerable and probably the best theme he ever had.

http://launch.yahoo.com/read/news.asp?contentID=214309 There's an article about it. And I was wrong, it was Dick Ebersole who got it for $50,000.

If memory serves, the winner was Brent Musberger of NBC sports who loosely knows Carly and bought the auction as a favor so she could tell someone she trusted. I have no idea whether she wound up telling him or not. I believed the auction prize was lunch with Carly, a private concert and her spilling the beans. Not sure how much Brent paid either, but it was a hefty sum.
