Price is Right's Rod Roddy dies

What you guys are missing is that Johnny Olsen was the announcer for the Price is Right for years and years before Roddy took the reigns upon his passing. Roddy took a lot of shit from people, because he wasn't Olsen and that's who the fans wanted. Different generation now. It's nice to see an outpouring of love for Rod here.

    80's Strike Back

I could have sworn they covered A Christmas Story in the first series. I remember them doing teasers with the tongue on the flagpole bit. Could be wrong.

    80's Strike Back

I think the funniest segment this time around was when they were talking about the Gloria video. "Yeah, this set is kind of sparse. Go out and get four disco balls, but small ones. We don't want to blow the budget."

    80's Strike Back

Logue is a lot more in your face on this series than he was on the last one. I half thought he was on something when he came into the studio to film his segments. I think he just said to himself that he was going to cut loose and have a good time and not care what they did or didn't use. I do find him to be funny. If murder was made legal tomorrow, Michael Ian Black would be like 8th on my list of people to gun down. Dry sarcasm is one thing, but when you do it non-stop about every little thing he gets tired and annoying fast. He was even trying to poke fun of stuff that he knew nothing about and that the majority of people said ruled and he looked like an even bigger tool. One thing I do like about Sparks and Rocca in comparison to Black is that they sometimes can do straight commentary and insight and they will admit when they liked or still like something. One thing that totally cracked me up was when Rocca was singing "Poppa Can you Hear Me" to the Snausages jar. Of the lesser people, I did like Rich Eisen and Jericho. I bet the producers expected to get this wild and crazy wrestler, running everything down and instead they got regular old Chris Irvine. I also think it would have been interesting if they had gone more indepth with people who were big in the eighties like Boy George, David Lee Roth and Debbie Gibson and got their personal takes on their own celebrity at the time. And boy, isn't Debbie Gibson hot now. And who was that other smoking blonde they were talking too? Was that Candace Cameron or one of the Gold sisters?

"UNCUT" movies on TV piss me off

That's extremely rare from what I've heard and hard to figure out as it alters the running time and can cause the core of the film to be disjointed. I can't site a specific example of a film that does this on regular t.v., but would like to know of one. Many sites, such as imdb, lists the differences between versions and note what scenes or parts of scenes are cut completely or edited down. Mostly, it's cutting parts out.

"UNCUT" movies on TV piss me off

I wanted to throw in to say that Sturgis' explanation is correct. Uncut simply means that no scened have been left out. As mentioned, both Star Trek and the Simpsons have horribly cut versions in syndication as do most shows. The idea is that you can cram more commercials in with less show and make more money. For movies, they are mostly cut so they will fit in neat two hour blocks. In fact, some films have scenes added to stretch them out and some films have different scenes shown on television taking the place of what was shown in the theater do to either content or length.

    Actor Fred "Rerun" Berry dies

Kids today, don't know what Fraken Berry is. Hell, I think it's even still on the shelves. There are three main monster cereals, Count Chocula, Fraken Berry and Boo Berry. There was also Fruit Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy. Fraken Berry is pretty much like Count Chocula, but it's strawberry in flavor and appearance.

I guess I get to be the guy to point out that you're talking about Ken Berry, who is not dead but should probably be. And yes, I realize you're making a weak joke since Rico posted a picture of Rerun.

Character Actor Jack Elam dies at 84

By ANTHONY BREZNICAN, AP Entertainment Writer LOS ANGELES - Jack Elam, a character actor and favorite Western villain who menaced good-guy cowboys with his crazy grin, wild eyes and remorseless gunslinging in films such as "Rawhide" and "Wichita," has died, a family friend said Tuesday. Elam, who had been in declining health in recent years, died Monday afternoon at his home in Ashland, Ore., of unspecified illness, according to longtime friend Al Hassan. Most biographies list the actor as 86 years old, but Hassan said he was actually 84, having lied about his age as a youngster to get work. "He was cantankerous in a great way, in a funny way," Hassan said. "He smoked, drank, all that stuff. He lived one of the best lives I've ever seen." Elam worked as a Hollywood accountant in the 1940s and had bit parts, usually uncredited, in the films "Trailin' West" (1949), "Quicksand" (1950) and "One Way Street" (1950). He helped arrange financing for the Robert Preston (news) film "The Sundowners" in exchange for a larger role, as the husband of actress Cathy Downs. Then came a tough-guy part in 1951's "Rawhide," starring Tyrone Power (news), which helped make him a star. Elam, born in Miami, Ariz., didn't always play the mean old hombre — he also found himself cast as dirty old men and harmless drunks, sometimes with a humorous bent in comedies like "Support Your Local Sheriff" and "The Cockeyed Cowboys of Calico County." The actor's own cockeye was the result of a childhood fight in Phoenix. The way he told it, a fellow Boy Scout stabbed him in the left eye with a pencil during a scrape at a troop meeting. He remained blind in that eye, which wandered lazily around its socket. Elam continued working into his later years in such films as "Suburban Commando" (1991) and the TV reunion shows "Bonanza: The Return" (1993) and "Bonanza: Under Fire" (1995), his last screen credit. But he complained about the modern villains that evolved in the 1970s, who had shades of psychological problems behind their bad behavior. "The heavy today is usually not my kind of guy," he said in the Los Angeles Times in 1977. "In the old days, Rory Calhoun was the hero because he was the hero and I was the heavy because I was the heavy — and nobody cared what my problem was. And I didn't either," he added. "I robbed the bank because I wanted the money ... I've played all kinds of weirdos but I've never done the quiet, sick type. I never had a problem — other than the fact I was just bad."

Berry didn't make any movies. The Oscars aren't going to cover him if he didn't make any movies.

I just saw this and was about to post it. We already have two now with Jack Elam. One more to drop. I can't say much about Rerun, but he was funny and notable on What's Happening and seemed to enjoy being known for that role.

    SWF Fantasy Basketball

This weekend should be good for me, although I usually go out on Saturday nights. You don't need a big draft list with as few people that will probably be in the league. When in doubt, draft big white polish guys.

    SWF Fantasy Basketball

I used to dig basketball. Kiki Vanderweghe still playing? I'm in, because I just love fantasy sports. I would say do a points league, head to head doesn't work to well with day to day games and such. Also, we usually draft in the SWF chatroom, but an AIM draft can work too I suppose.
